Huskies have attitude. And, watching mine trying to catch chipmunks, I can say they are not agile either. LOL, that border colie is amazing (and looks so happy).
Some people find it incredibly interesting and exciting! Surely you’re not suggesting that watching cars go 386 kph (which is amazing, considering that anyone would be even able to control a vehicle at that speed!) is boring! Maybe you posted that strip simply because it was about today’s race?
[side fact to everybody: Nighthawks is most likely THE no. 1 Indy 500 and hasn’t missed a race in decades!! And, there are other enthusiastic Cleo/Indy fans here as well, like MontanaLady and her MMM! You don’t have to like racing…but, WOW!!!… it’s hard to ignore their infectious enthusiasm for the sport.]
it’s simply a case of each to his own….in reading the comments on that strip today, virtually every single one agreed that watching the ‘500’ was akin to watching paint dry….
when a reporter comments to him about his name with
something lame like “well, to win you needed willpower”
it’s met with a rolling of the eyes and a comment back
along the lines of “you’re really going there with that?
I suppose the Australian has been hearing it all his life
if that were the case, the professor left out the all-important decimal point.
not thinking he’d do that…
so, until he explains his mysterious comment….
My Boring Sunday bit (come on, you needed something to calm your heart rate after the big race): Starting weight: 184 lbs. / Goal weight: 145 lbs. (-39 lbs.) 31.0078125 in.³/lb. butter × 39 lbs. = 1,209.3046875 in. ³ of me to lose in total Weight lost to last week: 9.8 lbs. (29.2 lbs. left)
31.0078125 in.³/lb. butter × 9.8 lbs. = 303.8765625 in.³ of me lost to Sunday, May 22, 2022
1,209.3046875 in³ – 303.8765625 in.³ = 905.428125in. ³ of me left to lose.
Last week’s weight: 174.2 lbs. / Goal weight today:172.7lbs.
I am now 172.0 lbs.
174.2 lbs. – 172.0 lbs. = 2.2 lbs.
29.2 lbs. – 2.2 lbs. = 27.0 lbs. (balance of desired loss to reach 145 lbs.)
31.0078125 in.³/lb. butter × 2.2 lbs. = 68.2171875 in.³ of me lost this week.
303.8765625 in.³ + 68.2171875 in.³ = 372.09375 in.³ of me lost to date
1,209.3046875 in.³ – 372.09375 in.³ = 837.2109375 in.³ to go
172.0 lbs. lbs. – 1.5 lbs. = 170.5 lbs. (next Sunday’s goal weight)
Hey ! I’m on the downward trend again.
My step count is again inaccurate because I forgot to wear the counter Wednesday, and forgot to record Thursday’s value. For what it’s worth, the total of what I have is 16,018 this week.
I still haven’t managed to break the plateau, so for week eleven ( third in a row) the regimen remains unchanged. While I’m blatting on, I had to order cheques so I’d have enough to fill out for my lease renewal. One hundred duplicate cheques $69.91 including taxes and shipping to my mail box. They’re supposed to be in by Friday, June 3 ( I don’t give anyone except the bank itself permission to withdraw money directly from my account )
“Duplicate” simply means there’s a copy made on a backing paper as I write out the cheque.
I just wanted to comment about the first Black&White Cleo strip that, at least, I can recall (other than the extended Sam Spade “film noir” series). I rather liked the simplicity of today’s strip. Remember when the only color strips were on Sunday? And, during the week, everything was in B&W??
Yes, I know that there are still other B&W strips being produced, but I did a double-take when I saw this one!
Kudos to Nighthawks for trying something new for Cleo. Looking back over the past 8 years, from the old Sherpa days to now, there have been a lot of changes and new techniques for Cleo, and I’ve enjoyed them all !!! (and, Cleo has, too !!!)
There is something to be said for simple black lifework that has it’s own charm.
I couldn’t imagine Citizen Dog colorized.
It could be done, but it would take away some of the charm.
On a somber note, counting May 30, 2021 as day one, if Katina Cooper makes no comment here or on GoComics today it will be a full 365 days since her last comment on May 29, 2021.
Her avatar is still active on GoComics, but here, WordPress has reverted her status to “guest,” with a stock avatar.
I’m pretty sure it was she who gave us “The evil white cat.”
And any post of Peter Green must include…

DINNER-time?

Apparently by German photographer Friedrich Seidenstücker in 1930 Berlin.
Just two little girls. Any two girlfriends, anywhere in time. 🙂
Chinese culinary school
I would be overcome by the fumes.
They are having a hot time. I hope there is a fire extinguisher handy.
Fit for burning fat…

love this one!
Watch it all the way. Hilarious!

ha ha
not in this household!!

I simply thought it was funny.
No criticism intended whatsoever.
That’s what I thought!
(And, as much as I normally enjoy ‘Daddy’s Home’, I guess I missed the humor in that particular strip.)
it’s simply a case of each to his own….in reading the comments on that strip today, virtually every single one agreed that watching the ‘500’ was akin to watching paint dry….
But I do love the name of #12 (Row 4; 11th).

you’re back. how was your day?
I wasn’t planning to interview him. I just love the name.
Way better than “Axel Schweiss”. (Yes; that one’s real.)
it’s all the pagentry combined. and then the race, and then the ‘breathing problem’ that i get in the last 25 laps!!! a really fun day!
Elliot being a little too mature for his age?
When I was a teen “submarine race watching” was an expression for making out on the beach.
Thus “too mature”…

Sorry, typed that in the wrong place.

P.S. ,
is the new date format permanent?
nein! I had some trouble posting last night and was forced to use an alternative date
to get it posted.
BTW, everyone:

I fear she is no longer with us.
Sadly, I think you are right. I enjoyed her comments.
thanks for your observation! sad to know it’s been a year.
gad. I forgot all about the mysterious (Rotifer’s adjective) Katina….
hope her being ‘no longer with us’ just means she doesn’t comment anymore
Her last comment was that she wasn’t feeling well……
😥
He said it is supposed to taste really good, Cleo. He didn’t say anything about the smell.
You could at least try it.
