Everybody of a certain age seems to remember the song….

Sadly, nobody in the US seems to remember one-hit wonder Mungo Jerry… which BTW is the name of the band, not a person.

….

I only remembered that the lead singer looked like a ringer for an old friend of mine… though he didn’t wear those horrid muttonchops.

I didn’t remember the name, Mungo Jerry, till I saw them on YouTube a couple of years ago.

I just now finally looked them up…
and though they don’t sound like it, they’re British.

They actually had several hits in the UK… and of all things, 52 years after this song…. they’re still touring.

These two images blend together so seamlessly. It’s remarkable.

The impossible dream…. indeed!

Two disparate works, which have somehow come together as one…

A late 19th century oil, by the great post-impressionist painter, Van Gogh….

And a mid-20th century sketch by the renowned Picasso…

(which, BTW, was long thought to be a simple pen and black ink drawing….

but a possible original copy has been unearthed, in blue, and has thrown its presumed provenance into question.)

Have now joined, in a third version… 21st century reworking, put together by the Queen of Tampering… our own StelBel.

It really seems to fit.

Love the clips… which are, of course, from yet a fourth rendering of the Dog Quixote story…

the human version of the basset musical, “Hound of Las Munchies.”

It was called “The Man of La Mancha” whatever that is.

The Petey O’Drool part was played here by human actor Peter O’Toole… who admittedly can’t sing, so his voice was dubbed by a human singer.

I’m told that O’Drool, however, did his own howling… do see the basset version, if you get a chance.

….

Funny side note… well, to me, but I’m easily amused….

A little watermelon I bought a few years ago had a rather pretty sticker on the rind that said “Dulcinea”.

It featured a very nice looking sun face, so I stuck it on my fridge.

I kept trying to place the name, till one day, pondering, I thought “Dulcinea… Dulcinea… ” and the double rendition apparently made my brain cells kick in.

That sticker is long gone… but when I see those melons in the store, “The Impossible Dream” starts up in the earworm compartment of my brain.

Our latest rendition of ‘Man of La Mancha’ just wrapped up on Sunday. I was in the last one, 30 years ago. I wasn’t involved with this one, but I did just land a part in the next, ‘Spamalot’.

Looks like something that came out of an ox’s nose. Good though. (paraphrasing Jack Elam in Support Your Local Sheriff)

Y’all have a good day. (((((HuGz!)))))

We call them Oreo cows. There’s also a brown and white variant. Quite a few farms with them in southeast Michigan.

If you have them on your farm, you should also have Hampshire pigs!

And pandas. Don’t forget pandas.
Put some stairs around to fence them and don’t let the bamboo overgrow your property or the other livestock may get lost in those woods.
