The raindrop animation is great… but what are the moving white lines?
I know it’s late, and I’m sleepy… But I’m mesmerized…
I first thought rivulets of rain, but they’re mostly inside the room.
Then I thought they might be the edges of some very sheer curtains…
But there’s no bottom edge….
and though most of the way down, they’re inside the window, they seem to be outside the bottom of the wooden frame…. yet magically extending over the edge of the coffee cup?
They don’t show though the clear glass vase… or rather, pitcher… of flowers, either… But that was probably just too difficult to animate.
The animation done to the song It Happens Every Spring was wonderful. It’s wise to keep in mind, as you watch these old cartoons, that each frame had to be drawn and colored by hand.

See the Apr. 14 comic from Off the Mark over at GC. There’s been a basset sighting.
The different version of the human version poster is a link to the sadly inferior human version of the film, but, like Beethoven’s Fifth played on a kazoo, you know there’s a better version of it somewhere in the infinite number of universes (1 hour 26 minutes 41 seconds) .
You will have to click through some minor clutter, but the movie is all there.
Throw in the nut type of your choice, and this will still be good.

“Pecan Pie”
1 cup dark corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla (real not artificial)
1 cup coarsely broken pecans
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Combine syrup, sugar, and salt in saucepan.
Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Boil 2 minutes.
Pour slowly over eggs, stirring constantly.
Add butter, vanilla, and pecans, stirring to mix well.
Pour into unbaked pie shell.
Bake in moderate oven (375° F.) for 50 minutes, or until done. (Pie should be completely puffed across top and firm.)
Cool.
Spread with sweetened whipped cream or dessert topping mix before serving if desired.
Note: Filling may be baked in 8 to 10 unbaked 3 1/2 inch tart shells. Reduce baking time to about 35 minutes.
Nuts may be toasted slightly for rich flavor. For this, simply heat nuts in a teaspoonful of butter in skillet over low heat. Stir until nuts are lightly browned.
every year our company would rent a luxury bus. we road in great comfort. they also sprung for great sub sandwiches, and we sang the ball game song over and over. all the way down to Dodger Stadium. i hear they did that until covid struck.

I was watching a Hallmark movie last night ~ ~ Curious Caterer Mysteries – Dying For Chocolate ~ ~ and it said it was in association with Basset Hound Distribution. What’s Cleo and Nighthawks gotten into now??

i see that the left window is open a crack. the sheer curtains get pushed around in the breeze. don’t know where the bottom of the left one is.

A new bassetball movie, that is —
ever since the days when this one came out.
It’s been a long time…. but I remember this being a funny one, though.
Some sort of impossible chemical reaction creates a kind of rubber that’s repelled by wood….
perfect for “hitting” bassetballs amazing distances, of course…
and that turns a nerdy professor into a bassetball star.

Seems like an obvious precursor to the “Flubber” created in a much later Dogsney comedy….
which may have kinda sorta borrowed the idea…
Not that the inventions worked the same way, but the bookish professor invents a super goo that changes the game… and IIRC, helps nerd win fair lady.

Doesn’t Jeanie look adorable in her little blue skirt, and purply eye shadow?
Makes you wonder if it was hard to get the basset boys to chase anything but her when she was on set.
Still … they ARE dogs… and a ball is a magnet for a dog, even a slow-wobbling basset, when Jeanie leaves the room.

Just imagine humans thinking they should copy a movie where THEY have to chase balls on foot!
All humans know how to do with those balls is hit them with those big sticks and wait around for everything to come to them.
Not half the action of a bassetball game.
