Well, you have to remember, it’s De Pig’s living room. They are probably much more comfortable with the cows than they would be with the bunnies.

I love Sandra Boynton’s illustrations… but for this puzzle we have insufficient information.

By making an assumption or two,

I counted…
nineteen “cows”

BUT I don’t know whether I was supposed to ALSO count a few pictures of “cows”, cos they’re not really hiding in the room… so I left them out.

I also didn’t count one animal whose eyes were the only part visible… it’s probably a bovine but it could be a pig.

And, making it even harder… I ‘ve been saying “cows” because I live in dairy country.

And around here, we know that COWS are female.

If it has udders it’s a cow.

If it doesn’t, it’s a bull or a steer…

but if I can’t see any udders, I don’t know whether they’re just hidden, or it’s not a cow.

Retro SF art is another favorite of mine.

Whenever I see “SF” my first thought isn’t “sci-fi”…

My brain has to process “San Francisco art??”

I do the same thing. Growing up in NorCal and all.
I did a google on sf art and got the Museum in San Francisco. 🙂

If I Googled that, I’d probably be looking for San Francisco museums…

And startled to get science fiction.

….

It’s like when you say “The City”.

Whether you’re 15 or 60 miles from Santa Rosa, or San Rafael, or Oakland…

And you tell someone you’re going to the City… they know you mean San Francisco.

I forget that they don’t when you’re online… and in fact they laugh at you.

They might even think you mean that dinky little town, New York City.

This is the same sort of facial expression seen on the face of the young boy Kwei Chang Caine from the TV series Kung Fu. David Carradine played the character as a grown man, but in flashbacks to his childhood he is seen being trained as a priest and as a martial artist by monks of the Shao Lin order. That boy would often look just like that when addressing one of the monks.

Chapter 11 of this riveting saga. Sam has a scent, but no positive ID yet. But Sam, being the hard-bitten basset private-eye that he is, never lets go of a case once he has sunk his teeth into it. And he has a firm grasp on this one. So … … … … whodunit?

Let’s not forget that, as Liverlips points out…

we’re still clickety clacking along the tracks of the Midnight Express!

As they stretch into the distance from where we’re standing… those rails may look like they’re going to meet.

But like my thoughts about “whodunnit”… they never do quite come together.

….

A slot under the door?

So a person(?) with incredibly long arms and skinny fingers could reach in….

pull the rug out from under Mr. G.C. ’s feet… and all the way out the door?

And bam!! (or is that ka-bam!) the victim would fall back, and hit the back of his head on the floor?

Well… maybe….

But nobody has arms that thin!
I didn’t take any of our suspects for a shape-shifter…did you?

Some sort of tool?
Right… a tool… say… a loog thin hook… to slide under the door?

But I’m not sure that would provide a strong enough jerking motion.

And how do you plan for the right moment, when your victim is standing still, and squarely on the rug, in the perfect position…

not walking across the floor too quickly to catch?

Falling down might just bruise an elbow… or give him a headache.

Or he might fall face forward.

And where, pray tell, is the rug now?

Even if the evidence was hidden by being thrown out a window… and not Mr. GC’s window, if the killer were outside the door….

and you found it on the tracks….

that certainly isn’t a surefire or provable method of killing someone.

“A guy is dead. I found a rug.” So?

….

And surely it couldn’t explain that gash in the wall.

it’s hard to imagine that a person would be thrown back far enough… and hard enough, by that method to hit the wall and be killed.

Or that his head would be pointy enough to “gash” it.. especially “behind the curtains”.

And if the rug theory is wrong, and instead, the killer cut the wall from outside, and reached in through that gash, rather than the compartment door…

How was he or she standing outside a moving train car?

This train has some more clickety-clacking to do.

Just how far is the next station?

Love them.

Especially dark chocolate covered ones….

But most of the places that used to sell those don’t any more.

And if they do, or used to in the last 20 years or so, they lied…

the “peels” became strips of gummy orange flavored candy.
