I don’t want to prompt any rash behavior, but – – – – doesn’t that image contain a fair amount of the color-that-shall-not-be-named?

From yesterday.
Here is Disney’s “Casey Bats Again” from 1954.
I had never heard of it before you mentioned it, and I’m unhappy that I forced myself to watch to the end. I put it in a spoiler box because in my opinion it’s terrible; no imagination, no coherent story line, no proper character development, and an ending that would stretch the credibility of any bad cartoon you would care to name.
About the only thing that’s right, is the animation.

Casey Bats Again (7 minutes 42 seconds / not recommended)

OK..… what??!
I mean WHAT??!!

Sam Basset is holding out on us!

And amazingly enough, the Midnight Express keeps clickety-clacking along, through yet a 12th episode on the mystery train!

So Sam doesn’t think the big guy did it… well, as I said, neither did I. But who DID?

It COULD have been the porter… he certainly had reason to want to be rid of that complaining jerk.

He also conveniently forgot to mention the throw rug and the door gap….

And maybe now, he’s trying to frame poor little Vlad..
Ok, poor big Vlad… by making him look suspicious.

….

But I tell you from experience… people who work as porters… and waiters and retail clerks …even (cough) hair stylists… (and I’ve been all of those but a porter) …

are all faced with some nasty customers, among the nice ones….

And to last at those jobs, they usually learn how to shrug them off.

I can promise you that the FANTASY of murder, indeed, exists… but the realisation would be exceedingly rare.

A lifetime in jail to get rid of someone who will soon leave anyway just isn’t worth it.

Grace snarls, and tries to sound dangerous, making her too obvious… yet the other two seem pretty unlikely.
Who the &@¿¥! dunnit??

And HOW?
Saaay…. where were YOU that night??

You look kinda suspicious….

Anyway if it wasn’t you… and you’re thinking about someone sneaking in through that slash in the wall… it seems Sam doesn’t think so.

Besides… I believe I said last time…. the window, thus the curtain, and the slash “behind” it…. are in a (probably quite thin) outside wall on a moving train.

It’s coming down to the wire for Sam Basset and his fellow passengers on the murder train. Will there be a dramatic confrontation, perhaps on top of the speeding iron horse? A fight to the finish? A duel of destinies? How many more cliffhangers can we stand?

Melanie is one of a kind. This video shows exactly who she is. I love her! Thanks for posting this.

She became something of an emblem of 60’s counterculture. Her presence at Woodstock had a lot to do with that. You gotta give props to the people who performed and kept it running. Jimi Hendrix became a legend at Woodstock. I have never heard a more heartfelt Star Spangled Banner.
As for Melanie, she was cute, and sweet, and brave, and genuine, and tough. But if I could have talked with her then and knowing what I know now, I’d urge her to take some basic voice coaching/training/lessons. The way she sang was destroying her vocal chords the whole time. If only she could have learned how to stop injuring herself.

I very much like the effect of the blurred, speeding train racing past at the grade crossing.

I been thinking’….

Yeah yeah…I know… it’s pretty dangerous with such rusty equipment…. but every now and then I take it out for a run.

So I thought… ok… the rug-pulling might explain the murder… but why isn’t Sam ready to spill all the beans?

I’ll tell you why… sleuth that I am, myself… (blows on fingernails) ,… I have figured out several reasons.

….

1) Sam Basset isn’t in the strip on a regular basis… so he demands to star in his arcs for as long as he can.

And we know from reading “Cleo and Company” that nobody around here ever says “NO” to any doggy demands.

2) We, the faithful audience, love reading Sam’s arcs for as long as we can…. as long as we know we’ll get back to Cleo at some point.

And while I can’t say nobody ever says “No” to audience demands….

3) Nighthawks goes along with that one, because he really really likes drawing that train.

Now if only he could remember the number of cars the train is made up of.…. 🙄     🙂

I’ll say only that I’m getting better at making crêpes thanks to Susan’s help a couple of months ago. I still haven’t gotten them completely consistent, I’m still working on the bottoms, but I can get them to fall out of the pan now instead of tearing them up with a lifter.
There’s all kinds of them too.

From:
“EGGS TODAY (Light, fast, and easy meal solutions for today’s busy life!)”
Published (and co-published) by: Canadian Egg Marketing Agency
Place de Ville, Suite 1900
320 Queen Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1R 5A3
Numbered as: CKMT-350M-2/93   (All 10 provincial egg boards are listed as well.)

“Crêpes with Fruit”

“This elegant dessert can be served in just a few minutes when you make the crêpes ahead and freeze.”
4 eggs
1 Cup milk
1 tbsp melted butter or margarine (use butter)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
Dash Salt

1.  Whisk or process all ingredients together until smooth.
Let stand 1/2 hour to let bubbles escape; stir before using.
2.  Lightly oil crêpe pan and heat over medium-high heat.
Pour 1/4 cup batter into hot pan and immediately tip to coat entire bottom.
Place on burner and cook until edges begin to brown and batter loses its shine.
3.  Transfer crêpe to cooling rack.
Repeat until all batter is used.
Crêpes can be stacked if being used immediately: layer with waxed paper if refrigerating or freezing.
Makes 12 crêpes.

Notes from me:
Milk is whole milk.
A “dash” is defined as 1/16 teaspoon in some cookbooks.

“Raspberry Coulis”

2 Cups unsweetened fresh or frozen raspberries
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp raspberry liqueur or juice

1.  In small saucepan cook raspberries over medium heat until soft.
Combine sugar and cornstarch; stir into raspberries, mixing well.
Cook over medium heat about 5 minutes or until thickened and bubbly, stirring constantly.
2.  Strain sauce through sieve; stir in raspberry liqueur.
Makes 3/4 cup sauce.
