Lindbergh was extremely lucky he didn’t run into headwinds. When he landed in Paris he had just over an hour’s fuel left; and that’s if everything in the engine worked as designed.

The table below was copied from     HERE.

As a side note, the air foil shape for the aircraft was used (inverted) as the spoiler for the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird.

I was there sometime in the 70’s with my husband and two little ones. I was very impressed. All I can remember is seeing the plane.

The flight was all about the fuel.
Not just how much to have, but managing how much was coming out of what tank and when and for how long. So as to keep the plane balanced.
Do that when you are seeing ghosts in the cabin.

nighthawks first posted a gif (pronounced “jiff” by the late Stephen Wilhite, creator of the GIF) of Buster Keaton in “The General”      ON THIS DATE.

The link to the full film I posted is no longer operative.

Just to clarify, though: not the exact same GIF.

I think I would be saying what Claude said. ‘Confound it’ wouldn’t quite do it.

Glad to see some Polish music! Is it only in Krakow that woodwinds are a woman-only instrument?

I’d say that the young ladies outnumber the guys by about 2 to 1 in the orchestra as a hole.

I heard you would be getting some snow. There was some in North Idaho in isolated spots. Here we just got rain. They are saying we will be getting one day in the 70’s next week………but they have said that before and it didn’t happen. Your last chance for making a snowman ~ get out there!

Thanks to all of you for your concern and good wishes this past week!! While I’m not 100% back to “normal”, I’m on the way and a heck of a lot better than I was a week ago! I can’t tell you how much I appreciated all your messages and “healing vibes”!! You are the greatest group of friends!!!

A special “thank you” to Nighthawks for filling in for me this week, and for making the effort to include themes relating to the poster! I know how much you hate to do themes, Nighthawks, so you went above and beyond the call of duty!!!!
