Research says the dog was played by J.J. and he was actually a a happy-go-lucky yellow Labrador.
Julia Roberts met her husband on that set and they are parents to three children.
While I think that does happen in some places, sadly….
My friend’s husband, who got his dinner way ahead of the rest of us, IS Black. He’s a friend, too, but she and I were a little closer.
(BTW… He objects to the term “African American”, because he says it’s a skin color, not a nationality, and his family is not only somewhat mixed, but many more generations American than those of us with immigrant great grandparents.)
…
I don’t think this time it had anything to do with his race…
Our ever so talented waitress finally brought one plate to the table, after we’d already waited a long time, and said “Who had the ____?”
I don’t remember what it was, but none of us had ordered it.
It was similar to what he ordered, so it could have been meant to be his, incorrectly… or it was supposed to go to another table.
He was hungry, so he just said “Me.”
He never got the salad that was supposed to be first, but at least he got food, and the dinner he did order never came, so who knows.
….
To be overly fair… we were there very late, after an event, in a city about 25 miles from here.
It was about one in the morning, so we presumably didn’t have the first-string wait staff.
Since leaving my comment, I remembered that another couple was with us… making seven people.
We decided to eat together before parting company, but ordered different types and amounts of food, which may have thrown off the timing.
I think it was a Denny’s many many moons ago, after waiting for a half hour and no even acknowledged that we existed, we left!, I have been to others since then, just not that often
All kidding aside, I will look for a Waffle House when I’m travelling. In and out quicker than Denny’s, and the portions can be more suited to our aging dietary requirements.
hello C & C Family…. just stopping by for a quick message. i fell on Friday morning. spent 2 days in the hospital. no broken bones just REALLY sore. xoxo
How unfortunate! Sorry to learn you had to spend time in the medicine cabinet, but glad to hear you’re still in one piece and home now.
You just can’t trust floors these days. They come with carpet chameleons, linoleum lizards, wood whippets, even (in northern climes such as yours) snow snakes.
btw….the hospital food was GREAT!!! they actually have a chef come in. cooked to order! . and it is served when you want it. charbroiled chicken. charbroiled burger. too bad i wasn’t starving!
.
Quite the little story. I like it!
agreed! Kept me looking while listening to the Blue Danube.
Poor robot… it looks like the fancy kitty is rejecting his fish dinner…
…in spite of the pretty flower, and the fact that he climbed all the way up there.
Sniffle.

Kinda scary… electricity a little too close to water.
S’OK. It’s a ground-fault circuit. That means the shock is a short one.
NO, really, your thought was my first one, also.

I will watch out for this one, Happy.

Sorry, Cleo… that’s only good enough to work at Denny’s.
Yeah yeah… I know.
Some Denny’s have great wait staff.
Somewhere.

Not like the one who brought my pancakes and forgot my eggs…
which I had to ask for about three times.
They were just sitting on a counter getting cold, on a small plate with a little pitcher of fake maple syrup.
I had asked for no syrup.
…
She finally brought me the completely cold eggs, spilling the syrup all over them, filling the plate.
They were sunny-side up, when I’d asked for over medium…
Two yellow, half raw yolks poking up out of a sticky brown lake.
When I said “Please, I didn’t want syrup,” she tried to scrape it off… with a fork… and broke the yolks. Then handed me the plate.
Everyone was through eating anyway.
…
Meanwhile, she’d brought one of my friends the wrong sandwich, and spilled coffee all over her.
Her husband had eaten his dinner by the time the rest of us got any part of our food.
There were five of us all together and not one order was completely right.
…
It was like a bad comedy movie… but the poor waitress didn’t get it.
We actually felt kind of sorry for her. She was not exactly brilliant… and the manager had bawled her out in front of us.
Then she brought our check… she’d added it wrong.
We were charged for my eggs, which I couldn’t eat… but the check total was IIRC $20.00 short.
…
One of the guys told her about the check mistake, not wanting her to get in more trouble.
But she couldn’t figure it out, so she called the same manager over, and they got in a huge, loud argument, ignoring us.
We just put some money on the table and left, and they didn’t say anything to us.
I haven’t been to a Denny’s since then.
Just imagine if any of your group had been African-American. They probably would have called the cops on you.
Funny that you brought that up….

We had a bad experience at a Denny’s years ago ~~ nothing as bad as yours. We haven’t been to a Denny’s since. There are too many good restaurants.
I think it was a Denny’s many many moons ago, after waiting for a half hour and no even acknowledged that we existed, we left!, I have been to others since then, just not that often
Waffle House?
All kidding aside, I will look for a Waffle House when I’m travelling. In and out quicker than Denny’s, and the portions can be more suited to our aging dietary requirements.
But that’s if I can’t spot a Mom-&-Pop.
But are you saying they give you smaller portions, for the same money?
People often mention Waffle House, but I’ve never seen one.
I guess we don’t have any here.
,.
Technically, that’s not a merry-go-round. Those have only horses. The ones with other critters are carousels.
hot fudge sundae
Cleo gets second breakfast? elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper?
Good morning Cleo phans! I know. 2 days in a row…right?
National free hot fudge sundae day? I’m all in!
Y’all have a great day. (((((HuGz!)))))
hello C & C Family…. just stopping by for a quick message. i fell on Friday morning. spent 2 days in the hospital. no broken bones just REALLY sore. xoxo
ouch!
gravity. the bane of us all, from time to time
how was that Montana hospital food?
Always thinking about the food, huh??? Sounds like my husband.
Sorry to hear that. Glad no bones were broken in that experience. Falling is scary! Hope you are doing okay.
If there’s a next time, remember to fall up not down. 🙂
Glad to hear there are no broken bones though.
Ouch. Get well ASAP!
And be more careful on that scooter next time…
It wasn’t the scooter that was the problem. Trying to ride it on the high wire was.
Now where’s a smiley face?
😉
Thank goodness!
Any fall scares the heck out of me any more.
Bad Rita!
You’re not supposed to fall down!
What have I told you?
…
Oh… Maybe I forgot. Sorry.
But from now on:
Don’t Fall Down.
And of course, get better NOW.
Glad to hear that there were no breaks.
Get well soon!
Dorothea
Ow! Glad it was a good fall. Feel better soon!
Ouch. Glad you bounced (sort of) instead of broke. Hope you feel better soon.
How unfortunate! Sorry to learn you had to spend time in the medicine cabinet, but glad to hear you’re still in one piece and home now.
