This (odd) video was done for the 50th anniversary of the song. A lot of celebrities appeared in it (many of which I recognized, and many that I didn’t) and a list of everyone who did appear is at the end of the video in the order in which they were shown. I recommend that you enlarge the screen to at least YouTube size, if not the whole size of your monitor.
As it says in the video, dogs think it’s a squeaky toy. Max woke up and got right out of bed when he heard it. He still can’t figure out where it’s coming from and is staring out the sliding glass door.
The body of Annie Chapman, a victim of Jack the Ripper, was found near here on Saturday, September 8, 1888.
Oh, and the original mural has been around, if it still exists, since at least 2013. It was done by Puerto Rican street artist Alexis Diaz (I don’t know if he and the Cincinnati Reds’ pitcher of the same name are related).
This is the picture Dennis was trying to post yesterday…
He put it in a reply to Nighthawks, who had posted a (slightly creepy, IMHO) animated New Yorker cover with what seems to be a patient-eye view of four female surgeons.
He said: “I love this small painting, but my wife finds it creepy. So it stays in my office.”
Apropos of nothing, I had to pay 142.75 ¢/litre for milk the other day. (I do get back 6.25¢ of that back because of the 25¢ deposit on the 4-litre jug but with the few bottles and jugs I return at a time, I’m not gaining anything)
Today, I’ll be paying 148.9 ¢/litre for gasoline.
563.6478 (trnc) ¢/U.S. gallon
“Help! Help! I’m being repressed!”

Hope you enjoy it!
I did. Thanks.
That list is missing the two “main” characters, the duo sent to investigate, who are credited on a previous screen.
Fred Armisen, who is that face you always recognise but can never identify …
And Vanessa Bayer, who looks vaguely familiar to me.. I think… maybe.

Look out for that angry frog!
Ugly~mugly!!
Cute!
It still does not provide a cure! What about a muscle relaxant in the diaphragm?
Too much of that and you could stop breathing.
Cthulhu Vista is not just a city in Southern California.

to Alexikakos:
I missed looking at the additional info of the dogs in the bone-shaped pool yesterday. Thanks for steering me straight!
Also, thanks for including the rice and sausage recipe! Sounds good!
🙂 🙂

Thanks to you and Dennis.
I’m with Dennis’ wife.
Thanks Susan!
You’re welcome!
I did go back and add a comment to you yesterday, after posting this, about my possibly incorrect guess as to why it was forbidden…
But I had no problem.
…
BTW… I wouldn’t call it a favorite, exactly, but I like it well enough…
She’s got a slight, shy smile, so I don’t find it creepy.

That’s a little less than I’m paying for gas right now, at Costco.
Cheapest in town… but I think California has the highest price in the country, due to environmental regulations.
Some stations were charging well over $6/gal but the price has dropped a bit, so I’m not sure now.
Ours jumped to $1.94 per liter in Vancouver. It was $1.82 yesterday…
Ooooh … it’s Basselot!
Aaahh…. that extravagant fantasy, of castles and knights, full of music… and forbidden love… in days of yore….
BASSELOT!
I start humming when I think of it!
….
With the beautiful, somewhat ethereal (for a basset hound) Pawnessa Redgrrrave … (I never can remember how many rr’s)…
having to choose between her ever-steady royal mate, played by that handsome hound, Dickie Hairies….
And her illicit love for the dashing French knight, played by the equally handsome (though actually Italian), basset, Franco Fur-o.
…
Especially for Montana Lady, who likes to know these things….
some juicy and not-so-juicy tidbits…
Many wondered how Redgrrrrave could give up the delightfully eager and attractive Hairies, for the interloper, Fur-O…
Some surmise it was the latter’s huge brown eyes… but, you know… dogs… who can say…
…
What we do know is that it was the start of a long, off-screen relationship between them, as well…. which produced a real life puppy.
It ended after a few years, and in the fashion of Howlywood dogs, they went on to other matings.
But… in an even more Howlywood fantasy ending… they met again, many years later… got married … and are still together.
Their pup is now a film director, and long past puppyhood.
…
Another bit… Fur-o’s songs, we now know, were actually howled by a similarly Italian-named basset…
but one born in the US, Gino Furry-no… who could howl more passably in French.
His voice can still be heard, as well, as one of the howlers of the theme song, in reruns of “Bassegan’s Island”!
…
Anyway…. Bassalot was a mixed success…. at first panned by the doggy critics…. and a bit of a failure in theaters…
it nonetheless won THREE Golden Biscuits… for the score, the art direction, and the glorious costumes!
you know me well, miss susan. i love all the tidbits!
I always like the tiny basset images at the bottom of the poster.
I left them for you to comment on. LOL

In the dentist’s office waiting to get stabbed with a needle a lot.
y’all have a better day than me. (((((HuGz!)))))
Have a nice day.
The Cleo site went down in the wee hours, right after I posted about Basselot.
Nothing but error messages.
I feel asleep before it came back, so this is the first chance I’ve had to reply since then, or catch up on “likes.”
I’m having a busy week, as well, which is very very unusual for me… but I’m around!
Just sometimes late. 🙂
