Aunt Bee!! Don’t let the children see this.

Yes, in fact, I’ve read that during the series run, she was very touchy… she resented her role as Aunt Bee, and the fact that by age 50, she was typecast, always playing women older than she was.

She was a New York stage actress who didn’t like playing a “hillbilly”, and refused to socialize with Andy Griffith.

Yet years later, she apologised to him, and spoke gratefully to others about the opportunity to play a beloved character..

She even asked to have the words “Aunt Bee” one day included on her gravestone.

I have no idea why I read, much less remember, all that stuff… I’ve hardly seen half a dozen whole episodes of “Andy Griffith.”

I’m not either. I’ve drawn the lines of sight on the picture in the box. The dog’s appears to be nowhere near the squirrel.

He is looking at where the squirrel WAS. Those things are pretty fast.

Thanks all of you….

Yeah… I think the dog is either looking right at the squirrel, or trying to see where it went.

You can’t tell which direction his eyes are pointing by looking at the back of his head

The problem was that I missed seeing it.

My eyes aren’t good at focusing in the middle of the night… I wouldn’t make a good sighthound.

That’s why I asked for help!

Don Doggo puts on a good show. But I bet the senoritas bassetas will love him more as Perro.

The Drifters drifted from Under the Boardwalk to Up On The Roof. I like how they worked the pigeons into the video.

Reading and catching up….:

The spoiler box contains the original photograph (Coca Cola Man 3) by Russian photographer Vladimir Zotov which inspired the artwork posted by nighthawks.
I came across the name Rishiraj Singh Shekhawat in association with it, but like Susan with Fabien, I’m skeptical. The painting is dated November 27, 2018; zooming up the signature I get “Topal”. There are several artists named Topal, but none that directly link to the painting.
That’s all I came up with.

This      LINK      takes you back to August 12, 2021 (the first publication of “Meteor Basset”). The link I posted there to the human “Meteor Man” is still valid.
I stand by “pathetic” as a review.

An interview with Stephen Hanson, who used a computer program called “Painter” to portray Toby in “Space Invaded.” Sadly for us humans, Toby is in doggie heaven. The red ball features in some form in all renditions of Toby because it was his favourite toy.

I heard a compilation episode of ”Quirks and Quarks” today, and I thought you might find it interesting.
“Quirks and Quarks” is C.B.C. radio’s science show. Its format is interviews with the actual scientists doing the work on what’s being covered.
The link will take you to the list of episodes. The one I think you may be interested in is the August 13 episode (the show initially airs Saturdays and repeats on Thursdays).
This one covers putting sun-screen on the Great Barrier Reef, how whales eat underwater without choking, how they fertilize the ocean, and sweet sea-grass meadows and improving oyster fisheries and car tires and their effect on water.
The full show is 54 minutes, but you can break that into time bites that suit you.      “QUIRKS AND QUARKS” LINK

Ooh, mis amigos…. Don Doggo is back!

Acting the fool, playing the inocente… he pretends to care not a bit, while inside, his heart burns in a way no Tums™ can assuage.

Especially now that they stopped making wintergreen ones.

Is he really such a peacock? Is he actually so vain?

I have to say yes, posing in his fancy charro suit, and even bragging quietly to Fernando about his prowess with the sword,

and his grand plans to save the silenced and downtrodden.

But some dogs deserve their braggadocio….

and I think this will prove to be true of El Doggo, when we see him in action, as Perro!

(Hmmm… Part three and and that hasn’t happened.

I’m going to go out on a limb, and predict that this won’t be just a 4-part adventure.)

I love Fernando’s eye-roll in Panel 3…

A smart dog who nonetheless plays the comic foil… an skilled actor, who knows how to ad lib a bit of anachronistic humor.

Meanwhile, the beautiful California desert plays a role in Panel 4…

Somewhere just “outside of Los Angeles” … before it was paved with orange groves or little bungalows or freeways.

Picture that spot today…. facing left, so of course they must be heading West out of LA…

(Hmmm… maybe somewhere on Sepulveda… cos to an infrequent visitor, it seems you’re always somewhere on Sepulveda… even if you don’t know where you are.)

Do you think… just maybe… with diligence… one might find something yet standing, that carries an old, faint, carved P”?

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Fortunately, cook 1 potato / cook 100 potatoes, as long as they’re individual with an even heat, the cooking time remains the same.
1 1/2 pounds at 4 ounces per serving is 6 meals; too much to cook at once for one.
The recipe says salt and pepper to taste. These are definitely over-salted.
It’s a “company” recipe (Marzetti) and its drizzles have not yet been brought to Canada by Kraft. But sour cream and chives will still work well.

Be wary of peacocks……be very wary!! You have time Fernando~~ explain Clark Kent to him. I’m sure he will like it.
