I’m curious about the Dodie Stevens “video”, cos AFAIK nobody had made any music videos in 1959.
In fact analog videotape may have been invented but was barely in use… digital was years away..
This was probably a TV performance, preserved on film or Kinescope.

I went to the YouTube site but saw nothing about what program this was on.
But Dodie is singing live, with a band behind her, hence the bulky mic around her neck…
And she’s only 13 years old!
She was still 12 when it was recorded, and became a huge hit, earlier that year.

Which does leave one to wonder why she’d be dating a guy who went into in the service, and owns a limo, a submarine, a helicopter, and a yacht… though it is only a 12 foot yacht.
gad, I’ve known and sang the words to this little tune since it was new and I never put together that a 12 foot yacht isn’t much of a yacht……also, why would they go deep sea fishing in a submarine when you have that yacht?….
additionally, watching her turn and and twist around with that cumbersome wired microphone makes me think she had to do a little rehearsed choreography to do that right every time without tripping over it or getting it tangled and twisted

AAAAA Buy preserving jars with rings and lids (wide mouth ones are best, but it’s preserver’s choice) of a size to hold a serving and its expansion when frozen. Either thaw the jars at room temperature, or remove the lid assembly and put the jars on a metal tray and put in a preheated 200° F. oven until thawed (from past experience do not microwave even at low power / I’ve lost jars). Heating pot to soup bowl from there . I still haven’t gotten around to asking for reinstatement at GoComics. There’s no guarantee I would be anyway; the third user survey has come and gone, and still nothing changes).
P.S. I cut and pasted the relevant paragraph, beginning after AAAAA, of this directly to a GoComics comment box and it was accepted (although formatting was lost). I can see me, but no one else can, as you no doubt know.

I’m glad I gave little thought to lyrics growing up. I always liked that song. Nice melody, pretty voice.
I love Van Gogh’s paintings, and have always appreciated his innovations in brush strokes depicting color, texture and light.
But that one self portrait, above the music videos, to my mind, makes him look like a wolfman, maybe even a werewolf, though it seems more benign.

I’ve always wondered whether that was on purpose… did he want to look rather furry?
I sort of doubt it… but who knows. After all, his mental state was always changing.
I’ve never seen it discussed… but then, I haven’t really looked.

so far i only use the wheelchair when i go somewhere.
