That is a reminder I’d rather do without.
One of my first jobs was working at the “White Lunch” as a busboy.
I didn’t last long.
I quit after maybe two weeks. Its clientele (even in the one on Georgia Street, where I worked) were pretty much all of the two percent of the public that make service jobs difficult.
I’m not going to officially disagree with the caption, but before I saw it the background said “Granville Street” to me.
A short article, with a wider view photograph of the street, (and an “advertising” photograph too) about Kappabashi Street in Tokyo, Japan. LINK The article says it’s the 35th most visited place in Tokyo on a list of 80.
You can see why the basset keeps him around. Very handy for when you’re called upon to ascend a steep set of steps.
Also, the lady sitting quietly in the background is wondering if it is her turn next?

I consider myself fortunate to have found six thus far – maybe 20 minutes. You eagle-eyed puzzle solvers will no doubt do far better.
I love Harry Chapin live. The first time I went to one of his concerts I liked Taxi, but it wasn’t enough to make me a huge fan. But he engages the audience, he tells stories, and really brings you into his life, the life behind the songs. After that I bought all the albums and saw him again when came through again.
Looks like GoComics is changing things again.
I can’t get on. “The requested service is temporarily unavailable. It is either overloaded or under maintenance. Please try later.”
If you can’t connect to a site, and not sure if the problem is with the site or just your device, a good site to use is one like this https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ (Other site checking services are available via your favourite search engine). Put in the site you’re trying to get to, and it will tell you if the site is down for everyone or not.
Dilbert and The Far Side sites are also unobtanium as I suspect they are hosted by GC.
I went to a couple of Andrews McMeel sites, where you can find another route to puzzles and Dear Abby, but the links to all of their comics sites return errors.
Yeah….I meant to post about it last night, but I went to bed earlier than I usually manage to do.
I tried GoComics right after I opened Cleo, before I wrote my comment about the puzzle, which I posted about 11pm PST, or 2am EST, and got the same message.
I have bookmarks for a couple of the sites like those mentioned by More_Cats_etc. I tried both, every hour or so, and it was still down.
I just checked now… Nothing has changed.
…..
It used to mean an actual server problem or sometimes a DNS error, but in the last 5 years or so, on GoComics it has meant an “upgrade”….
Which I have afterward generally regarded as a downgrade.
They did this when they took away our images and links, as well as when they “froze” Ballard Street after Jerry VanA’s retirement… and several times when they tweaked the forums to add the “featured comment”, disallow long posts, change the thumbs, etc.
…
Sigh….. so when I find the site down, my usual question is “OK, what fresh H≠|| is this?”
She is a superb performer, very accomplished both vocally and instrumentally. It’s an unusual, but not unprecedented, combination.
As for the original Threepenny Opera, by Brecht & Kurt Weill, I have performed it at the university level as 1st (and 2nd) trumpet in the pit, and it is a lot of fun to perform. But it is in no way a swinging, danceable, Dixieland-band, type of song. Mack the Knife is a murderous thug in the story, not some happy-go-lucky rebel. He is pretty much the bottom of the barrel. The song graphically describes how you can tell that he is “back in town.”
guy from Insurance commercial
The guy’s expression is fantastic. It’s like he’s thinking he’s doing humanity a favor in this instance.
It’s a funny commercial. This guy is like, “This is too easy,”
I don’t watch TV.
Anybody got a YouTube link, or who can tell me what the commercial is for?
Yeah yeah… “insurance”… but what company?
Thank you!
hahahaha!
Lombard and Gable
.
One cuppa, coming right up.
We used to have one of those in Vancouver…

Cool….
Is that one fully round, as well, not just a flat image of a teacup??
Yup fully round with the cartoon waiters endlessly circling. (Alexikakos can probably sympathize…)

They should plant flowers in those.
Are thy balconies, or is it an art installation?
I get the feeling these are balconies, as Happy³ surmises.
If so, how cool, to be able to walk out a door, to sit or stand in your own colorful teacup.
Like living in the Disneyland wild teacup ride, except hopefully not moving… and also very securely attached to the walls.
…
It looks like each saucer might be ringed with lights, as well… would they shine upwards onto your faces at night?
What a portrait that would make!

Is this a crosswalk?
A picture link through another of his works to an article about Iranian cartoonist Alireza Karimi Moghaddam.
it took a minute to see all the Van Gogh touches, but zowie!
My first thought too, a Van Gogh, from his “Sunflowers Series”.
Basset and friend

I found all six also. I’m so proud of myself! We did good!!
I don’t consider myself eagle-eyed. I was stuck at six myself and found two more while looking for other possibilities. I’m at eight, now.
I found # 9.
I’m stuck at six. I’ll look again in the morning.
Slept on it and still only 6 this morning.
Seven…
Dang! The ramp has become a park!
Here I am, Cleo pals and puzzle people….
Hope you’ll all keep trying, if you haven’t found all nine yet… they are all in there, I promise!
Do your best… and then feel free to compare with
…
There are a couple of differences in this one that prompt me to post another reminder…
for anybody, especially, who started doing these puzzles since I last said it:
…
That is…. there are often differences I really can’t circle (or square?) without partially obscuring them…
Not unless I make the circle so big you can’t tell which bit I’m trying to point out.
I do my best to center the difference… but it’s really only meant to point out the location.
if you can’t make it out completely, please look at the original puzzle in that spot, in both panels. You should see it then.
Forgot to check those dang word balloons.
I checked it, missed the change though 🙁
OK; got all of those, too.
Nice that the picture was pretty large to begin with.
How I missed the one I did….
i only got 6 also. no more time today….
Missed two huge ones!!!
I ended up with seven.
Seven today
Love the Harry Chapin song.
didn’t Frankie Avalon do the original?
Don’t think so, Taxi was written by Harry, no mention that Frankie did a cover…

I can’t get on.
“The requested service is temporarily unavailable. It is either overloaded or under maintenance. Please try later.”
It started at 9 AM CEST today. Precisely. (3 AM EST.)
Same goes for thefarside.com – the site can’t be reached.
thanks, I came here to see if anyone else is having this problem, glad it;s not me! I even rebooted, ok, on to the puzzle!
ya, me too!

Still down. Over 24 hours by now.
Wikipedia on “Thomas Wayne…“
It’s squash month.
Andrews McMeel’s “rah-rah-we-are-great” site is still up …LINK… at 11:51 hrs. E.S.T..
Why i like YouTube. Where else would i find gems like this?
She answered my question — was this the original Bertolt Brecht “Three Penny Opera” version of the song?
I always imagine my trumpet playing is going to sound like that. I’m always disappointed.
