Few people are aware of the AKC breed standards for this dog:

Coat and Color: Short, smooth coat comes in black, rust, merle, or (rare) fawn with smoky lace markings.

I get the attachment for extra three.
Here’s one that worked for me.

If searched “PLACYDE” comes up with confusion.
So much so that I’m not going to even try to credit an artist.
The creature itself may or may not be a fan’s rendition of “Siren Head” or “Car Eater”, and on one site the caption reads: “Did you also just hear a car honking?”

Here’s a radio play by writers for “X Minus one” that pretty closely follows the plot of the short science fiction story it is based on.
The story by Katherine Maclean was darkly funny; with a few word twists and light acting, the adapters made it simply funny.
I left the YouTube recording set up at full time, so there is a 1952 radio commercial.

There was a nostalgic video on Facebook of people inspecting brussel sprouts like that. I said I bet they aren’t stuffing those in their mouths like Lucy and Ethel.

I have “The More Than Complete Hitchhiker’s Guide” on my bookshelf (ISBN 0-517-69311-9 / 7th edition) .

From Douglas Adams’ introduction (page vi 2nd paragraph):…
…Some unhelpful remarks
   from the author

The idea for the title first cropped up while I was lying drunk in a field
in Innsbruck, Austria, in 1971.  Not particularly drunk, just the sort of
drunk you get when you have a couple of stiff Gössers after not having
eaten for two days straight, on account of being a penniless hitchhiker. We
are talking of a mild inability to stand up.

Gösser is an Austrian beer made by the Göss Brewery (currently 5.2% alcohol by volume).

Glad to see Cleo is prepared…. for what, I’m not certain.

If Claude ever did what we assume Cleo is going to do on one of their walks, you can’t convince me that she would be about to bag it up and carry it home…

and we already know she’s not cleaning up after herself, hence Claude’s bag.

So will she be collecting specimens from other dogs?

Looking for the perfect one to hang on her wall?

Or merely looking for treats and hand-outs, lost bones dropped by fellow canines… anything that fortuitously falls her way?

I think I know what the answer is…

Cleo is looking for… a chance to be a wise-a$$.

Meanwhile… I think those are the special jeans that Claude ordered from the Space-Time Continuum Store on Proxima b in the Alpha Centauri system.

He usually only wears them in Find-The-Differences puzzles.

Well, that or the cheap jeans he buys at K-Mart are incredibly poorly sewn in Sri Lanka.

In a few hours we may get the answer to all our speculating yesterday on the GoComics shutdown…

or not… if they have to drag it on for a few more days.

That reminds me… I answered you there, More_Cats… and probably some others cos I lost track of who came back there when.

When it does come back, don’t forget to backtrack and read your missed days.

The strips don’t get paused in the interim, because, as we online readers may almost forget, they’re still being printed every day in the newspapers… which is how Andrews McMeel actually make their money.

Sometimes I wonder for how long… and if print newspapers die out, will we be faced with more stringent paywalls to keep them going online?

I’m so used to the forums, it never occurred to me till now to check…

but yeah, the ones that overlap with that site are also available on Arcamax, if you really need your Luann or BCN fix…. but not Ballard Street, or a lot of my other ones, including the Charlie Podrebarac ones.

Maybe some are on Comics Kingdom, too, if there’s overlap there as well.

Before Comics.com I read my strips on newspaper sites, but I think most of those have dropped their comics pages, and also started limiting access without a subscription.

Remember when some people assumed that everything on the web would always be free?

Hah.

If they’re saying, “Systems are down” as opposed to “Servers are down” then it could still be something broken external to them, and they’re trying to patch round the problem.

Alternatively, it could be they were just doing a routine update/patch, and it’s had a catastrophic effect on their systems. For those who dabble in computers, think along the lines of the carnage you would cause to the system by running ‘Deltree C:\ /y’ instead of ‘Deltree C:\temp010 /y’ by mistake when wanting to delete the Directory C:\temp010 and its four subdirectories! (And yes, I once did just that on my Dos6.0/Win3.1 machine back in the early ’90s….. Whoops!). It must have been something unexpected as they would have put a message on either their front page, or on social media warning about a short system outage.

I just tried to telephone Andrews McMeel Universal.
I double checked the number I was dialing and dialed again.
My phone line makes the usual connection type clicks, and then I get a dial tone, and only a dial tone.
I’ve called that number before in the past, and it has connected; while Andrews McMeel may not be the sharpest corporation on the planet, I’m reasonably sure it’s smart enough to keep its telephone number current.
There’s more going on here than we know.
I’m leaning more strongly to cyber attack now.

Sounds something like that could be right. If they’re using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephonic systems (A lot of companies do these days), then a catastrophic outage/attack could bring all that down as well.

Re: the “GoComics announcement that perkycat posted at 20:40 hrs. E.S.T. yesterday.
Do you agree that it may be missing a comma? (Andrews McMeel is a publishing house, remember).
We’re sorry our systems are down!…. versus….We’re sorry, our systems are down!.…
You may recall the old internet meme along the same lines:
“Let’s eat Grandpa….”versus “Let’s eat, Grandpa….”
Incidentally, it’s still down at 05:45 hrs. E.S.T.

This is when I have to say that I am so glad we don’t have a dog. I would hate to have to yell after my husband asking if he had a ‘poopie bag’.
Cleo likes to be prepared ~ you never know what might happen on those walks.
We have a small dog park across the street from us and they provide ‘poopie bags’, thankfully. I have watched people dutifully doing their duty!

I’m not that fond of spinach; I’ll eat it if served, but I don’t buy it.
It is, however, its month.

Took the car for annual inspection today. Had to get new brakes front and rear to pass. Ugh. Then, the guys who put the new tires last year cross threaded a lug nut and broke a stem. That added $144 to the cost. Went back to the tire place, showed them the receipt and they paid! I was amazed it was that easy. Discount Tire may have screwed up, but they made it right.
