They were awesome! When I was in college (about the same time as the performance above) concerts were very affordable. I saw them at the Dane County Coliseum in Madison, WI.
This is one of those films you probably don’t want your puppies to watch. At a minimum, doggy parents should confer over the matter of the pups ability to handle such adult themes. Liz Howler and Pauly Newhound – and Burl Wags, for that matter – are no innocents among the laundry.
Today, CBC radio replayed an interview that I missed the first time around:
Tom Power of “Q” interviewed Cassandra Peterson; Elvira – Mistress of the Dark. It was during her book tour after the release of her book ” YOURS CRUELLY, ELVIRA: MEMOIRS OF THE MISTRESS OF THE DARK” released in September of 2021.
If you’re any kind of fan of the character “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark” the 22 minutes and 43 seconds is well worth the time.
There’s a library branch about half an hour away from me that has a copy on the shelf so I’ll be getting that today. INTERVIEW LINK: TOM POWER/CASSANDRA PETERSON (ELVIRA) She comes across to be as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.
Side note: “The Oak Ridge Boys” song was inspired by a street sign in Nashville.
Thanks for the link! We used to have Elvira hosting the Saturday night B grade horror movies. And when I was a kid in New Jersey we had Zacharly, who played the role fairly straight. Now we have Svengoolie, who plays it more for laughs. Wish we had Elvira!

And now this year’s version.

8 servings
2 pounds veal knuckle
1/4 pound fresh tripe, diced
1 teaspoon peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon whole cloves
3 quarts water (U.S. quarts / 2.84 litres for cooking)
3 medium sized onions, diced
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
5 tablespoons butter
2 green peppers, diced
3 medium sized beets, peeled and diced
2 sprigs parsley
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon marjoram
1/3 cup rice
1 can (16 ounces) whole tomatoes
Instructions
1. Place the veal knuckle and tripe in a large pot. Tie the peppercorns and cloves
together in a piece of cheesecloth and add them to the pot, along with 3 quarts
of water, and one of the onions. Bring to a boil. Add the salt, cover, reduse the
heat and simmer for 2 hours.
2. In a skillet, heat the butter. Add the remaining onions, green peppers and beets
Sauté the vegetables for about 10 minutes, or until they are lightly browned.
3. Add the vegetables to the soup along with the parsley, herbs and rice. Cover and
cook for 30 minutes
4. Break up the tomatoes and add them, together with their juices, to the soup pot.
Cook for 10 minutes more.
5. Remove the spice bag and the veal knuckle from the pot. Skim the fat from the
soup and taste for seasoning.
6. Cut the meat from the bone, dice it and return it to the soup, reheat and serve.
Notes from me:
In case you’ve forgotten, tripe is the edible portion of the stomach lining of cattle, sheep, pigs, etc.
A medium onion is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
A medium beet is is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
1/3 cup of rice will be 1 cup after cooking.
I love that series! That top one looks new to me! Woo Hoo!
Quite a performance. I wish I had had a chance to see them.

I have the vinyl; unfortunately my turntable is missing its needle (how it got lost I have no idea).

Text adventures, anyone?
I think I can save some money by buying a new one here rather than travelling to Romania.

They look ready for a round on the links.

Nether was Ohio Clifford.
Ooooh, Maggie!
That’s one hot vixen!
It’s my understanding that Tennessee Willams was a certifiable genius, but some kind of hot mess.
I think i saw that in an interview with Taylor.

,
I never liked the character of Bluto-cum-Brutus. He was, in my opinion, never written properly – right down to his name.
agreed!

Long-grain rice then.
And – even being of Swabian heritage – I can’t stand tripes. I love lungs, properly prepared and most other intestines.
“year’s”, not “years”.
Corrected.
