Hmmmm…… originally written as a song for, in translation,”Sweden, Heaven and Hell” an Italian (very racy, for the time) sort of “documentary” in 1968.
It was written by film composer Piero Umiliani.
Its title’s meaning is, in spirit, tra la la.

George C. Scott played Beast in a movie.
It was not Disney.

Found it on YouTube. It’s a very early Hallmark. I think it said 76.

Darkish and rainy here all day… with even more ferocious rain as the genuine darkness approached.

We desperately need water, four years into extreme drought, so I won’t complain, except for wishing it would skip the flooding and downed trees and such…

Just saying it’s a good night for a dreamy poster, like Stel’s somehow somber fairytale one for this beautiful, but rather mysterious, film.

Jean Cockerspaniel was a French dog…. one of the originators and foremost creators of the avant-garde, in literature, art and film.

He always called himself a poet, and even his films, which were later in his career, he labeled poems.

This one is from 1946, but looks older, with its ancient setting, the scenes gauzy, but lavish, with baroque interiors, heavy costumes, gold and jewels…. touched with magical camera trickery.

The dialogue is barked in French, and subtitled.

Josette Dog is the Beauty….. inside and out… as close to a delicate wisp as a basset can be.

The handsome Jean Mongrel plays multiple roles. He is both Beast, in extra layers of fur…. and smirking Beast antagonist.

(Rumored to be Cockerspaniels’ lover, and extravagantly costumed, he appears in several of his films.)

The whole is an enchanted painting, come to life.

The original advertising recommended it for puppies… but I doubt Cockerspaniel would have approved of branding his avant-garde fantasy a children’s tale.

When I saw it as a young adult, the dark foreboding of some scenes overcame the fairytale nature…

I think all but the most intrepid puppy would be terrified.

I’m not afraid of it any more… but I wouldn’t bring the youngsters, human or canine.

BTW, the humans tried with this film too…

in Stel’s post, you can see that the female human doesn’t quite have Josette’s delicacy…. nor does the beast project the opening menace of Jean Mongrel.

Ahh…. you did post a picture….(moving my comment down)….
It’s whipped cream day today.
Mother didn’t put this in her cookbook, but this is her method.

1 cup whipping cream (35% milk fat)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (real not artificial)

Put all the ingredients into a bowl (cool the bowl in the refrigerator before putting them in it if you like) and then use an electric hand beater or stand beater to whip (I’ve never used more than 1/3 speed. I tried using a handheld blender once, it only sort of worked.
You can also whip it by hand, but it takes a while.
Once it’s whipped to the thickness you want, lick the beaters and top whatever you’re going to top with the rest.

GoComics is apparently clearing house.
They have now set to invisible all of the commenters whose jokes I sometimes brought over.
It’s their site, but some of their decisions seem driven by pettiness rather than a policy violation; and as for the banned words list; as I said, try “spices”.

I wonder how …

we are planning updates to the site to enhance the user reading experience.

…is coming along, and why we have to wait through the rest of winter, spring, summer, and, at least a portion of fall before we see them.

except that sage, rosemary, and thyme are herbs!

For spices you want cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, black pepper, etc

I apologize for the multiple comments about Plods, but I wasn’t sure how to make sure that the folks asking about him all would see the message if I replied just once

Don’t worry, just do it once…

Everybody’s comments stay open as you read down the page, unlike some forums where you have to click to read nested replies.

If you see what other people have said to someone else, chances are those other people will also see what you said.

Or say it in the main comment thread, instead of as a reply, and then it will clearly be for everyone to read.
