I know I have seen this photo previously, probably in this very forum, and that someone responded with the names of all the individuals in it. I don’t remember all of them, but be encouraged whoever you are with the ID. I definitely know more of them than I did last time. Your efforts are not entirely wasted.
I don’t think it was me… so if I had to guess i’d say probably Alexikakos.
I recognized all but three, and needed confirmation for a fourth, so I searched the image…
Here’s the caption from one site that finally let me copy it:

Bottom: Janet Leigh, Rhonda Fleming, Bob Hope, and Shirley MacLaine.
Someone commented that it was Jean Simmons sitting on the stage behind Shirley Jones. Hard to tell.
(I only recognised Shirley Jones cos I’d recently watched clips from Oklahoma. I didn’t recognise Rhonda Fleming or the Champions, and I wasn’t sure that was Janet Leigh, cos she looks different.)

Another pair of iconic roles for Orshound Welles and Joey Mutten.
I know StelBel has mocked me, for saying that even in my teens, I was a Joey Mutten fan.
I thought he was attractive, much to the consternation of my friends. After all, he played the murderous uncle in “Shadow of A Dachshund.”
But he also played Pupediah Leland, in “Citizen Canine” … One of my favorite characters in one of the best movies ever made (IMHO).

Here, he’s cast as a writer, of sorts, searching for the truth about his old friend Welles…
while making his way through the half-lit streets and alleyways of Vienna, in this British film, which helped define classic noir.
Welles didn’t direct this one… and neither did Hitchdog…
though it has some of the flavor of both their oeuvres.
Instead, it was the great English director, Carly Feed-me.

Tense, involving… though to me, a bit hard to follow at times… it’s a journey into its time and place…
as the mystery deepens and finally starts to unravel,
disentangling the plot bit by bit from a dark but ethereal vision of postwar Vienna, as it gets torn apart by the haunting enigma.
The city, the carnival, the shadowy corners, are actually central characters in the film.

Much as I like Mutten, and the story… um… mumble mumble years later, the things that stick in my memory are mostly the picturesque flashes of unusual places and deep shadows.
Also bits of the music… which on its own sounds incongruous for a mystery, as though the soundtrack got mixed up with a much later Fellini movie…
until you remember the Ferris wheel.
Suddenly, bright carnival music sounds just a little ominous.
