This is nothing… wait till they’re scaling tall buildings, jumping on dangerous bridges, and running up the to the peaks of unusually shaped museums and the Sydney Opera House.
I know we had this gif here recently, cos I posted a video in response… But it was later in the day and I don’t know how many saw it.
This guy is doing “parkour”, terrifying to me, but fascinating, where very athletic types run, jump, climb, and balance their way through precarious obstacles of the urban landscape.
I used to watch a lot of videos of parkour and the related practice of freerunning, which sometimes is not quite so urban.
I wonder when that post was, so I can find the video again… might be easier than a new search.
I miss camping. Having a van or pickup with a shell on retirement was a semi goal for a long time. At my age sleeping on a cot or air mattress isn’t much of an option. A real mattress in the back of a van is the only way to camp. Even if it’s not a camper van.
Yeah, it was already a while ago, but I remember when I realized that sleeping on the floor of the tent in nothing but a sleeping bag was no longer viable.
Neither is the floor of a house, but I happened to be camping when it struck me that I couldn’t easily get down on the ground, and that the bumpy ground itself, under the tent floor, felt a lot harder at 55 than it did at 35.
Especially with nothing soft enough for my arthritic knees to land on.
…
Yes, I know. A very “first world” problem..
I’m truly lucky to have a life where I’m able to make that choice, and not have to sleep on rocks in my old age….
For our first camping trip, my husband and I threw a couple of sleeping bags in the car and went to the desert. Put the sleeping bags on the sand and it wasn’t until we were settled that we wondered what might be creeping around on the sand. It all went well, though, and we enjoyed looking up at the stars and the beautiful morning. Next we did tent camping which I loved. Then we got a trailer and did that for many years.
The reason Cleo gets a standing ovation, I believe, is that the audience at this venue has previously been “treated” to some of her other performances.
This one may be a sticky mess, but at least it’s not horribly loud, or life threatening.
I meant to mention tonight’s videos… I can’t help thinking this is an extension of my birthday entertainment.
Three “Sunshine” songs in a row, all of which, but especially the first two, have been sung at me, ok right sung to me, but sometimes it feels like at me, most of my life.
Only the first was around when I was little,, but it started back then… No, my real last name isn’t Sunshine, but it’s very close.
…
I think the first song I was teased with was when other kids changed “Here Comes Susie Snowflake” to “Susie Sunshine”…
One of the things that contributed to my forever dislike of being called Susie.
But “You Are My Sunshine” was not far behind. Even the 4th grade music teacher thought it was funny to sing it to me.
Later, of course, came Donovan, and the Beatles with “Good Day Sunshine” and even “Here Comes the Sun.”
There are zillions more.
Every person who sings one to me as a joke thinks it’s the first time I’ve ever heard it.
…
In the 70’s people who couldn’t spell my last name started calling me Susan Sunshine and I hated it…
Especially cos I tend to be upbeat and so many said it was a good name for me or even thought I made it up.
I wanted to bite them.
….
But you know what?
Eventually I embraced it.
When I got online 20ish years ago, I started using the name myself.
I love it now, and I know I’m darn lucky if people think I’m sunny.
I’m happy when someone plays “Ain’t No Sunshine.”
I even really like tonight’s version of “You Are My Sunshine” … A song I once dreaded.
.
Yes you are a beauty.
What is that? A red-breasted fluffball?
pink robin (southeastern Australia and Tasmania resident)
Thank you!
I’m not sure that color is even possible….
where are you from, little birdie?
maybe it’s supposed to be …… PURPLIEEEEEEEEEEE
Idiot.
This is nothing… wait till they’re scaling tall buildings, jumping on dangerous bridges, and running up the to the peaks of unusually shaped museums and the Sydney Opera House.
Gulp.

And I’m grateful.
the things i miss most in camping are the evening bonfires, and that first breathe of air when we unzipped the tent in the a.m.

Looks ominous to me, as if the fog is taking over.
What is the fire? Is the valley burning?
And what about the strange isolated building(?) off to the left in the aqua fog, in the middle distance?
It could be a tall building, or a much shorter one encased in a huge, transparent enclosure.
looks a lot like SMOG!
…
The proper way to say hi to a cat. A little sniff first.
Or pretty much any animal willing to say hi. If they’re not willing, my advice is to not force the issue.
pretty kitty!
You can’t play Bubble Gum on a horn!
That is quite the embouchure Cleo has. Puts me in mind of the sort of demands PDQ Bach was wont to place on his orchestra members.
Before I post about anything else, I want to thank everybody… especially StelBel and Nighthawks, of course… for the great birthday party yesterday!
I love that birthday strip… It never gets old. And Cleo and I have our little routine worked out perfectly by now.
A gorgeous announcement with beautiful dogs… And speaking of dogs…
wow, I swear I heard dogs saying “happy birthday” to me!
Did I dream that?
And Schipperke puppies! I could watch them all day.
…
And there were other great videos, a beeootiful fancy cake from Stel, wonderful little pastries…
And I’d like to thank everybody who brought birthday greetings, more cakes, other food, and more videos!
Hope I’m not forgetting anything, cos I loved it all.
Thanks, actually, to all of you just for showing up…
And I hope yesterday’s special visitors will keep coming to Cleo!
….
Um… say… now that it’s over…. can I give back the extra year I got, or do I have to keep it?
Just wondering….
What extra year?
The one I seem to get every year when the calendar decides it’s my birthday.
I never should have told it.
I was getting along perfectly fine with the age I had last week…
though I’ve unfairly been getting an extra year every April 16th for years.
The age I had in 1998 or so would be even better, but I do realize that there might be a time limit on returns, so that probably won’t be possible.
I just tried to pay you a compliment….
Ah… Thanks.
It reads like a question, so I answered.
Hard to get inflection in typing.
Hi, dear Susan!
I am in!
Thank you so very much for your help! ♥

It’s a standing ovation of pure relief.

Thanks Nighthawks…. Bring on the sunshine songs!
I think the name Susan Sunshine is great. It could be a lot worse – people being people.
i sure do like cleo’s attempt to entertain us. i get a kick at the bubble gum. real classy.
wow! more susan sunshine videos!
I’d stand and clap for that Cleo performance!
Sorry! I’m running a bit late tonight. I’m just finishing up on my taxes, so I should be posted here within the half hour.
Thanks for your patience!!
