I knew the idyllic life usually pictured for the mutineers was not real, but I had no idea until listening to “The History Guy” (Lance Geiger) that it was as violent as it was either.
Apropos of nothing:
I was reading a book (more once I’ve finished it) and the author referred to “the woman” in the painting “The Scream.”
I’ve found a copy online, and it is indeed a woman screaming.
The things I never thought about are legion, and that was one of them. If I was given a true/false test I’d have got the answer wrong no matter what way the question was phrased because had you asked me prior to today, I’d have said the screamer was male.
LOL… I remember telling StelBel a long time ago that it was in this movie that I finally decided Bark Bagle was handsome….
and NO, I didn’t see it in 1935, thank you!
My sister and I used to argue over the relative handsomeness of Bagle and my favorite, Cary Growl…
She was a devoted “Howl with the Wind” fan… I loved that movie,_ but didn’t get the allure of Bagle.
Especially compared to Cary Growl… sigh…
….
Mind you, I was about 10, and she was 8, and while we knew the films were old, neither of us really got that both of the actors we sighed over were a decade and then some older than our parents.
We had no real idea about allure… and I’m sure Bark Bagel didn’t give any more of damn about what schoolgirls thought of his old movies, than he did about Scarlett O’Hounda.
….
Charlie Laughbasset wasn’t a barrel of ha-has in this one, was he?
Evil Captain indeed!
I mean …. leashes, chains, tight collars….
I hear he even used rolled up newspapers on those poor basset sailors.
…
But we’d all happily follow the dashing Bark Bagle,
as he leads the pack in taking over the ship….
and they sail away to settle on Pitcairn Terrier Island.
Where they mated with the wild female dogs….
and their great great great great great great (is that enough?) grandpuppies still live there today!
sigh!
Have you been fallowing me? I just watched that one a few days ago. 😀
Funny!

…my kind of fun ! ! !

The History Guy is one channel i like to watch on YouTube.
He makes listening to history fun.

I never thought about the gender of the screamer.

It’s a place that lives in every dog’s fantasy,
like a giant dog park, far out at sea.
what a terrific poster this morning, stel !!! no need for the scarried cat row for me. i want to enjoy bark bagel in glorious black ‘n white! sigh…
..
sounds good to me!
Honestly, when was the last time you saw someone shooting up pot?
I’ve seen this movie, and, while it’s overblown to the point of campy nonsense, it has nothing to do with these sensationalistic images.
This is the “clickbait” of its day… from way before there were clicks, or anything to click on.
That may explain why I got such a little rush from smoking it.
