I cannot say I wasn’t influenced by my mother’s almost disdain for Marlon Brando (reasons unknown to me), but after reading THIS ESSAY FROM “THE NEW YORKER”, I can only say her reasons were accurate.
through experimentation I discovered her REAL love was raw carrots. Of course, now she expects them every time I see her. this particular shot
was her trying to understand why I didn’t have a bunch of carrots with me that day.
I didn’t know what you were talking about at first because only one strip showed up on my computer. Susan informed me that there were two copies up there. I know that Nighthawks had some problems posting tonight, so it probably was another WP glitch.
I was just able to delete one of the strips so everything should be A-OK now.
I already posted my bit about Charles Lindbergh another time, and the things that have come to light about him, mostly in the 21st century.
An anti-Semitic Nazi sympathizer, and a believer in eugenics, who secretly fathered children with multiple German women, in order to spread his good genes, he is no longer a hero to me.
These things are not rumors, but things he and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, wrote about, though Anne didn’t know about the children, who only found out as adults that he was their father.
But knowing that somebody hates you, sight unseen, and thinks you deserve to die, or at least lose everything, because he thinks you belong to an inferior race..
that he only mildly chastised Hitler for killing your great grandparents and all their relatives (he thought the death camps “might” be an extreme solution to the “Jewish problem”)
while believing himself the perfect example of manhood…
It all kinda makes it hard to appreciate glowing newspaper reports of his accomplishments.
….
I don’t think I could admire sweet portraits of Adolf with his beloved dogs, either.
It would seem creepy, knowing that he butchered humans.
Lindbergh isn’t quite on that level, but to me, he’s not lovable or even forgivable.

Interesting read…
Marlon Brando?
oh yeah
By Cecil Beaton, no less, in 1948, when Brando was 24, and usually looked quite different.
.
The fuchsia was made for hummingbirds.
I know the video is scripted, but I don’t like the script.
I always liked this song, or rather the sound of it (I never could make out the words). I love the inclusion of violins or fiddles in rock music.

.
I have seen those someplace.
View Master
I had several of these as a kid.
Me too.
me, 3.
Another one here.
The three of us had one to share.
Somehow my parents thought that made sense.
Interesting to have the drummer as lead singer. Of course it is all lip-synched.
seen on my walk last week
“Hey! Spare an apple?”

So that’s the reason for the long face.
hahahaha…
What a handsome face!
Montana Lady? This is your cue!
NOSE!!!
How convenient to have a phone booth in Masai country!
“No?”
obviously she didn’t own up to the fact …
The comic so good, it posted twice,
I didn’t know what you were talking about at first because only one strip showed up on my computer. Susan informed me that there were two copies up there. I know that Nighthawks had some problems posting tonight, so it probably was another WP glitch.

Reposted after a failed editing attempt at 22:08 E.D.T. (both are still up).
So Cleo snatched two burgers! The five second rule does not apply when Cleo is around!
A-OK.
I just love it when someone speaks Astronaut-ese
Guess I got the right stuff!
Find the nine differences!
What? I gave up after eight yesterday.
LOL… I was referring to the fact that Nighthawks had double posted today’s comic.
It’s still double right now… but may be fixed by the time you see this reply…
In which case it won’t just be you…. nobody will know what I meant. 🙃
I will! 😀
well, it would have been a long, unfulfilled search for a diff between those two
Yeah, but so much fun, right?
I mean… right?
We haven’t had these guys in a while.
I love the great respect the Danish Symphony brings to the music of Ennio Morricone. Very faithfully rendered.
ennio morricone is brilliant!!! and the danish symphony is, too
i just turned it up loud enough for MMM to enjoy it also, and he said ”thank you!!!”

what a scum bag! thanks for things you posted.
He doesn’t have to be held in regard as a hero or role mode.
This is about the successful culmination of the daring feat itself.
admittedly , he did and celebrated some horrific deeds and these forever
changed my opinion about him.
but did you know he flew P-38s and Corsairs in WW2 and shot down a Japanese plane in 1944?
nobody is totally evil and nobody is totally good—even Adolph loved dogs
I know he did lots of “heroic” things.
