It is a beautiful bird, built to hunt. For some reason this one looks almost approachable, if menacing still. Maybe this bird has already raised chicks successfully, and thus feels fulfilled in a way that others of its species may not. It has known and given love, or at least the avian version of love, and that comes with a side of pride.

I guarantee there are guitar-like instruments among the bedouins and others who travel the sands on camels. But they do not look like that. I’ll go take a look for one and get back to you.

How is Dell related WB?
Serious question. I wonder what the arrangement was. Just curious. 🙂

Early on, Dell was one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, publisher of comic books.

As time went on DC and Marvel split the superhero and supernatural comics business…

But because people collect those so avidly, everybody forgets that so many comics were licensed characters, kids’ stuff, movie and TV spin-offs… and Dell published it all.

Warner Brothers, but also Disney, Walter Lanz, all kinds of TV show characters, it was huge. I don’t know the exact arrangement but it wasn’t exclusively WB by any means.

Then they had some kind of split and a lot of those comics became Gold Key. By today it’s a whole different mix, but back then Dell and Gold Key were considered safe for kids.

That makes sense. I remember some of that. And Gold Key.

Maybe in time. Did the cat ever snuggle up with QT-pi before the new puppy arrived?

No. Tolerance is the name of the game now. Most of the time. Sometimes the beasts get closer to
Kiki than what she likes and she lets them know. 🙂

Talk about a symbiotic relationship; the total is greater than the sum of the parts.

I can’t make sense of the shadows, where’s the sun?

From the angle of the shadows, I’m thinking we’re looking across at the South side of an East-West Street.

It’s early, so sun is still fairly low to the ground near the eastern horizon…

The barber pole and fire hydrant cast long shadows towards the West…

So do the signs sticking out on the buildings and even the West facing edges of the recesses into which the windows are set.

The sun shines bright on their east facing edges, and anything else that faces directly east, like parts of the folded awnings.

Does that work?

Yes! Yes she is!
Let’s keep her away from Buddy. He’s Destruct-O-Dog enough. I don’t need him getting any ideas. 😀

Love the idea of a self-help group for ba-aa-aad dogs, like a 12-step program. There’s always that one individual there who has it way worse than everyone else. It is tough to be as supportive as you should if you’re not “it” in your group, in part because you’re dealing with your own *&&%^$. But not as tough as being “it.”
So it figures that Cleo is “the baddest moth$*&@!&* in the Valley.” Everybody else thinks: “There but for the grace of dog go I.”

Maybe they are thinking, “I could be a lot badder before I had to come here.” Cleo raises the bar.

You don’t think Cleo would join a self help group for bad dogs with any intention of being “cured”, do you?

Of course not!

Cleo merely uses it to show off.

….

I don’t know what brings her here… Possibly a court order?

Claude and Clara would never make her go.
Not only because they don’t seem to believe in discipline, but because they know the futility of interfering.

Meanwhile, if you want to know the meaning of “humblebrag“….

Just take a look at Cleo.

@Happy³ and anybody who watched the Sci Show clip he posted a week or two ago, with Hank Green explaining chemotherapy… as it turns out, while he was having it...

Did you see that he recently posted this?

Just nice to get a little good news now and then.

It depends on what kind, and the odds of relapse for that kind, and what type of treatment.. all sorts of factors.

Hank did a longer video where he discusses all the possibilities, but I chose this one for its brevity, and because he looks so purely happy, as he should.

….

The longer the remission, the better the odds of it staying away.

But I truly believe that a positive attitude is also a factor, and research actually bears that out, to at least some degree.

As much as that horrid disease likes lying in wait, it hates positive thinking…

And a person is better off, in general, cultivating a happy and resistant self.

Gloom is its own punishment.
