After over 70 years with boxers I have certainly had my share of slobber but now that they are all gone I kinda miss it. Although I certainly see your point Miss Susan.

No flying cars?

SusanSunshine

They appear to be hovering, so perhaps they can fly too.

It might be safer to have them following paths on the ground than bashing into each other willy-nilly in the air.

It would certain take less reliance on a complicated system of air control.

Or…. maybe we wuz robbed.

Of course, it doesn’t say how far in the future.

Maybe it’s supposed to be 2368!

Then again, I’m not sure many envision private passenger cars still around in another 3500 years, thinking we’ll have opted for mass transit or some sort of teleportation.

But human nature is stubborn.

We like the journey, along with the destination, and cling to our free will, and our privacy. If we can do away with their emissions, pollution, and environmental destruction, some form of them may remain, whether privately owned or shared.

The cars of 2023 are closer to those of 1923 than futurists of that era predicted.

The invisible improvements are incredible. Emissions reduced by over 90%, inside multizone climate control, constant computer monitoring of all systems, smooth movement, outside sound reduction, no, this is not your father’s Oldsmobile.

Those worked so well. There was also a teeny tube version in Cracker Jack.

Look through the holes and see shadowy, overlapping double images… convince your little sister she’s seeing her finger bones in the shadows.

Cos cardboard is a major component of a medical device.

Found in about 29% of student apartments ca. 1965-72.

Slightly fewer than that Renoir of the little girl that was in 36%, and neither as popular as the Muchas poster of the Art Nouveau lady that made it into 47%.

Disclaimer: these figures are only estimates based on my personal observation.

I had the Renoir even before college, and a bit later the Mucha…

But several friends had this one.

My brother’s girlfriend, future sister-in-law, had it in a frame with glass, and it went with them from house to house for years.

Of course, in some percentage of cases, a different Renoir or Mucha was substituted, but these two were certainly ubiquitous, along with the black cat.

Today’s Songs:
‘Get A Haircut And Get A Real Job,’ ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ ,’ ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ and ‘Glad All Over,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Apple Pork Tournedos.’
Cyndi Lauper is now 70 years old, married since 1991 and the mother of a now 24 year old son who is, sadly, ‘known to the police’ (he is a ‘rapper’ by profession / all of whom should have their mouths wrapped in duct tape and told to ‘shut up’).

I’m unfamiliar with a lot of music everybody else seems to remember… but that was one of the first really popular videos I can recall.

My older niece was about 9 and obsessed with it.
She dressed as Cyndi Lauper for Halloween that year.

What her mother didn’t know was that after she left the house with her older brother to trick or treat she stuffed about half a box of Kleenex into her dress “to look more like Cyndi.”

BTW that’s her real mother in the video, but not her dad.
