The article says that comparing a woman in northern India to be one is to be calling her beautiful.
Today’s Songs:
‘Rock’n Me,’ ‘Roxy Roller,’ ‘Runaway,’ and ‘RV,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘BBQ Mustard Flank Steak.’
The ‘Steve Miller Band’ has had many different members over the years.
I just learned that ‘Sweeney Todd’ was out of Vancouver.
Del Shannon’s original, but I put Elvis’ cover below.
I know I posted Dana Lyons ‘Cows With Guns’ on GoComics, but I don’t know if I posted it on ‘Cleo and Company’ even in Sherpa days. Either way, I don’t know how much commercial airplay ‘Cows…’ got (it wasn’t that much, I know) but I don’t think ‘RV’ got any. It is sort of a protest song against R.V.s. Well written, well sung, and the lyrics are amusing.
One of the tougher cuts of meat from the belly of the cow (or bull). The marinade time per side seems a bit short to me (I’d also drive a knife through the steak and twist it to make a good marinade surface ).
This picture of fish teeth (cooked 780,000 years ago) leads to an article by ‘Deutsche Welle’ (‘German Wave’ by Google Translate / it was, and maybe still is, Germany’s short wave radio broadcaster / tigressy?) about the history of cooking.
It’s a good clip, but it’s actually Lou Diamond Phillips, playing Richie Valens, in a movie also called “La Bamba”.
He did a good job in the movie, but he’s not singing it either.
Instead of using recordings of Valens, they went with Los Lobos versions of his songs.
I got nothing against Los Lobos, either…
But if you’re gonna say Richie Valens is performing La Bamba, let’s let him do it.
One of the first records I ever bought…. so the sound is very familiar to me.
…..
BTW Valens didn’t write it, either.
I didn’t know back then, but what he did, brilliantly, was take a popular old folk song, from the Mexican state of Veracruz, and give it a rock n roll edge, and make it an international hit.
Richie died very young, in the 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper.
and speaking of Buddy Holly —the only movie of him ever made starred Gary Busey in the title role—-but did they dub in Holly’s actual voice? of COURSE not, Busey fancies himself a rock and roll singer-so they let HIM do all the singing.

ML see below.
DZBOI!
If one can’t carry that beak, toucan.
They really like that low hanging fruit (and so do I).☺
Kinda old, and very used, but I dusted it off as best I could.
They have no problem eating hot peppers.
Most birds don’t. It seem that sensitivity to capsaicin is more of a mammal thing.
Boo! 😀
Oh yeah? Well, toucan play that game.

“ Shootin ” By: Robbie Thiessen
I can find nothing else credited to him/her.
The site WHERE I FOUND THIS TITLE appears to be a web log which collects works by, perhaps, amateur digital-artists-only and posts them.
cool!

NOSE!
No I didn’t today either.
To me, her face hasn’t changed.
No problem recognising her.
i don’t know, who is she?
Helen Hunt
thanks, NH! looked her up to only find 1 episode i would have seen.
I almost got her. I had crush on her back in the day…
A LINK TO AN ARTICLE ABOUT BABA YAGA
Not an exactly flattering portrait of our Queen.
Bad hair day?
Our Queen?
I’m afraid I can’t joke about her condition.
I was referring to her role in “Snow White”.
Old woman offering an apple?
I’m pretty sure StelBel will have a good laugh.
NOSE!
I don’t know what Dr Freud would think of that nose…
.
ML, before you reply, I believe the spelling is dziob.
i guess i goofed, again!
DZIOB!
Those eyes!

Are you trying to scare ML and Susan behind the couch?
no matter, halloween is almost over!

Hadn’t heard Roxy Roller or RV before. Pretty good. Runaway is a long-time favorite. I’m enjoying your daily posts.
Thank you.
That movie was great fun!
And i’m not a big fan of horror.
Especially modern blood and gore slasher stuff.
I love spoofs.
Food Day?
Wow… Maybe you can not like yesterday’s Boston cream pie, or some other day’s sardines or rutabagas.
But it’s really hard to argue with “food“.
When it comes to choosing something to eat, we all choose food.
And a Food Day party is easy..
“What should I bring?”
“Oh.. um… Let’s see…
How about… maybe some food?”
Maybe cherish it more than wasting it?
I get that!

But it looks interesting, thank you for the hint.
