Good morning, Cleo family… though of course it’s still Monday night to me, just a few minutes after midnight.
I think I’ll give this beautiful album another spin.
I love the cover…
Such slender(ish), graceful(ish) basset hounds… well, you work with what you’ve got, right?… it has a poetic charm to it.
The beautiful Stevie Nips was apparently dressed in character as a Welsh dogwitch…
but for a hit song she wrote and sang… um… on the previous album…. “Rhiannadog.”
Meanwhile, Fleetbasset’s job was to stand there looking impossibly tall and… let’s just say it… sexy… for a basset hound.
…
Ah…. nostalgia…. even if “Yesterday’s Gone”….
Oh, such lovely howling…partially inspired, we now know, by all three couples in the band being in the middle of breaking up…
Especially nostalgic for me, personally…. because at first I wasn’t a big Fleetbasset Machound fan… being more into the more rock sound of the likes of the Ra-bones….
but about a year after it came out, I traveled to Guatemala, where “Rhiannadog” was playing on EVERY jukebox in every little bar and restaurant…
After I’d been there a week or two, “Rumors” reached them… and it was “Dreams” instead, that became the soundtrack for my 2 month trip.
“Players only love you when they’re plaaaying ♫ ♪ ♫ “…
And of course, while staying in rustic, magical little towns with the travelling boyfriend I’d flown there to see…
WE broke up, too.
When I got home, “Go Your Own Way” became MY soundtrack for that summer.
I can’t find a link to the dogs… probably copyright issues..
this was Stel’s original posting—I couldn’t eliminate the stuff on the bottom in an animation without Stel’s help so I simply chose a one frame and enlarged it for today’s posting
as Stel used to do

Someone looks spiffy!

Is that one creature or two?
Just one. 🙂

Now do a puppy. Make it a Mellon Collie Baby.
Boo! 😀
Comment of the day!
Careful with requests.
He might squash your dreams.

A brief ARTICLE in “The Guardian” about the artist James Cook, and more of his work.

Here is the video (it may take a while to load).
Mute your sound, the narrator is full of himself and the video speaks for itself.
I’m thinking this looks like
Wrong again.
It’s not really the whole face that made me recognize the young boy…
I’d have thought he’d have darker hair, and.. I dunno, a different sort of look.
But that pouty lower lip, and those naturally dark-shaded eyes, were already there, and couldn’t belong to anyone else.
Not anybody I could think of, anyway.
That’s who I thought it was from the first photo.
Got ‘im, for once!
For me, it was the “pouty lips”… And that “snurl”…
I though
I’m not good with faces but the sneer made me think of him.

Those became applesauce or baby food.
Conjoined twin apples.
You can see that they have separate blossom ends.
I don’t know how growing so close together can make the skin between them disappear.
Just add it to the ever growing list of things I don’t know.
I have a tree in my yard that branches into steeply angled limbs. The limbs cross and over time have fused.

Avian philosopher, deep in thought.
A brief detour from Stel Bel’s usual movie poster oeuvre. More creative than the human imitation.

nighthawks,
Does this work?
yes!—I couldn’t get it to be this large size but I posted it in place of the non-sparkly one……thanks so much!
I used to use a website that would crop gifs better than my software… all the layer management was internal, because it was never mentioned.
Stel used it too but maybe not for that… It was one of our glitter sites (sniffle).
Sold!
Yeah, loved all of the songs and howls…
But where are Fleetbasset’s “jewels”?
A basset doesn’t need them.
That human wasn’t quite right, but the basset was, because he had been fixed.
