June 26th 1970…

The Aerodrome was a concert venue in Schenectady, New York, converted from a large bowling alley into a nightclub.

it closed in 1972.

A long, long time ago when they were still young and much closer than today.

You’re right, the perspective puts the moon way too close for today. But the continents are in the present positions. The large bright blob is north Africa. The Mediterranean is almost vertical to it’s right.

Needs a short stubby putter and a couple extra balls.

From the looks of it – a towel holder?

Oh! I didn’t see that the towels were hanging from its little arms….

I thought it was just the pole, standing in from of a towel rack.

I believe it is a washcloth holder.

I remember the plush coverings from my (really) younger days as a kid. They were “all the rage” back then.
Nothing but a germ trap!

The “hittie” sure looks a whole lot like Fred Sanford (Sanford & Son TV show)…

That’s who it is.
Pop was a fan of his. We never missed a show.

WOW! You are correct, Les. I had forgotten that she was “Aunt Esther Anderson” on the show — I had thought that she was familiar, but I’m old…

Why does this basset hound have Live Savers, anyway?

No, no, Pup… They’re bad enough for humans, but artificially colored and flavored sugar is NOT for dogs!

Let the human kids fight over them.

That would be like my family… On Sunday drives or road trips, Mom would open a roll of Life Savers and pass one to each of us in turn.

5 people, 5 flavors… I seem to remember there were 4 of each.
So nobody would get all five flavors, and she’d have to devise a way to not give one of us the same flavor we got last time.

But there were complications, of course. We kids fought over the red ones, my Dad hogged all the orange (and she made sure he always got what he wanted).

My sister liked the lemon and I didn’t… I was the only one who liked the pineapple, but I didn’t want pineapple every time.

Nobody wanted the green ones, so I think that’s all my mother ate.

A family treat and a drama, all for a nickel.

Got called away before I could post… but yeah.

I didn’t recognize the kid.

He has a unique look about him as an adult, that I recognize, but it doesn’t seem to be developed yet at that age.

Tigressy posted his name.

Oooh…. what a great movie!

It’s one of those rare basset/human co-productions….

and very realistic in its portrayal of Basset culture, which is so often misunderstood.

Cleo is perfect for Two-Ballet-Socks, isn’t she.

Gets that audience empathy thing going the moment they see her.

And Kevin Costner. Wow.

Who thought she’d ever star opposite Kevin Costner?

Too bad she couldn’t have been the one to marry him in this film….

But Howlywood and Hollywood are both scared to break the “rules.”

They just had to put a human woman in the story for him to marry….

and a beautiful one, even if she was raised by bassets and mostly spoke in barks.

….

In spite of his great love for Two-Ballet-Socks, he just couldn’t break convention by marrying a basset, could he…

so of course he married “Throws-a-Stick”.

Oh well… at least when Two-Ballet-Socks runs after him, they don’t shoot her.

I was worried, cos I’d heard a scary thing about a human version, with a wolf in that role.

Which I can’t imagine anyway, cos everybody knows that wolves don’t dance
