Baby giraffes are adorable in pictures, which somehow makes people think they’re the size of a lamb.

Nope.

Those are full size cinder blocks in that wall.

When Junior stands up, which he’ll do on the day he’s born, he’s about 6 feet tall, and weighs close to 150 pounds.

….

A full grown elephant, rhino or hippo weighs more than an adult giraffe… especially elephants.

But at birth, giraffes are the biggest.

An elephant will outpace him in growth… but still, within a year he’ll weigh 500-600 pounds, so this one’s weight depends on how old he is.

Closest estimate: not suitable for your lap.

I see a bandage around her neck.
I hope it’s not a tourniquet. 😀
Mom loved them. Especially after we saw a nature documentary about them where at one hotel where they just stick their head in the windows looking for treats.
That’s the first time i heard of them being called tall blonds.

I’ve seen videos of a place like that.

Some rooms were up in the trees, and the giraffes could still get their heads in the windows.

….

As for the bandage… I read about a baby giraffe named Daisy that had a feeding tube in her neck for a while and a bandaged neck.

I looked for the story and could tell it was a different giraffe, but maybe it’s something similar.

In any case, you put a smiley face, so you were probably joking (hard to tell in typing) but the idea is so horrifying i have to say: it’s NOT a tourniquet.

They’re only for profuse bleeding!

You’d never put a tourniquet around a neck, or leave them on for more than a minute.

I remember learning to do that about 4 billion years ago for a girl scout badge.

I’m sure it’s different now, like, they don’t use dinosaur skin.

I seem to remember that story now.
The tourniquet is a joke from an old sf story. Obscure joke. 😀

We have a free-range “zoo” down the road with an accessable giraffe pen where the darlings will bend over the fence for a petting.

Shadows. This poor giraffe is inside. It’s licking the mural. I’m sorry, this one makes me sad.

I saw that movie a few years after it came out at the tender age of around 10yrs old. It was more frightening than anything else I had ever seen.

That’s normal around here.
I know to be careful in the dark so i don’t end up kicking or stepping on her.

Yes, gotta be extra careful around here too because Dudley is solid black. His sister is black on top. I used to use censors at night at floor level so as not to step on them.

A few days ago, I watched (on YouTube) George ‘Spanky’ McFarland present Hal Roach, age @102, an honorary Oscar. Spanky was a young man then and resembled himself in childhood more than the above picture.

If you’re supposed to find it in five seconds, which i don’t believe anyone can actually do, I’d say it took me about 100 times the allotted time.

Hard to say, because looking at it was so soporific i dozed off in the middle.

I guess i got mugged.

Tigressy….
Not sure what you mean… MY daylight saving time was going to start in 40 minutes when you posted?

I don’t remember, except that it hadn’t yet.

….

I wasn’t specifically talking about me.

I was talking about Alexi, too, and everybody on daylight savings time.

Plus, for everybody on European Summer time, like you, that won’t start for another 3 weeks.

And in many parts of the world, it won’t change at all.

I was just trying to find out what Alexi meant by his cryptic statement about all the clocks in the world, and whether he was even talking about DST.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_by_country

“For example, in Canada and the United States, when DST starts, the local time changes from 02:00 to 03:00, and when DST ends, the local time changes from 02:00 to 01:00.”

Regarding Alexi: I assume he was referring to all the clocks in his household.

I pretty much said all that, just not specifically listing every country, which doesn’t matter.

Yes Daylight saving time starts/started at 3am (once it has changed) everywhere that uses it.

European Summer Time is later this month, in countries that use it. Other countries do not.

I was only asking Alexi about what he meant.

He didn’t say in his household, he said in the world. So i wondered if he was talking about something other than the time change..

Sorry, your assumption can’t tell me his intention.

I’m done.

“All household clocks are now sprung.”

I don’t see “in the world”.

You didn’t mention local time at all.
