I have enough fear of heights to feel it for people i don’t even know, in a photograph.
…
I once saw a movie called El Capitan…. a documentary that follows 3 or 4 guys climbing the face of the mountain.
I’ll never forget it.
For me it was as scary as a horror movie… fascinating, but i had to keep looking away or hiding my face, and asking when it was safe to watch again.
…
I’ve heard that some of the methods and equipment in it are outdated now… I know they had nothing like the canvas sling (?) in this photo.
But there was plenty of film of them eating and sleeping tethered to individual tiny ledges, waking up in sleeping bags that were wider than their perches, high above the valley floor.
Here in the UK, trains can’t run on most lines anymore if they flood. Modern signalling uses track circuits to determine if the section of track is occupied or clear, and on automated schemes, will also set the signals to Danger or Clear depending if the section is occupied or not. Flooded track can’t show both clear/occupied options, only Occupied.
The train is running on a flooded track, someplace paved and walled with brick, and its wheels are churning up water.
Possibly a station, more likely, an underpass, or maybe both.
You can see the brick pavement curving down towards the tracks, just past the columns on the right, and a ladder that might go up to ground level… Probably for employee use, not public.
I guess because it’s British, from WWI, and despite what some of you may think, i wasn’t born yet.
There was a huge grain shortage in Britain, so saving the supply of it was portrayed as crucial to the war effort, helping citizens to withstand the German invasion occuring at that time.
But… if Robbie finds donuts are to HIS liking, perhaps he’s not quite as inorganic as we think.
If he’s an even partially carbon-based form… I hesitate to say “life form”, but his being sentient, motile and carbon based might make it appropriate…
then those plants might find him more attractive than I’d hoped!
I didn’t make it here last night or Monday to comment, though i thought about it.
I can’t resist replying now to the video Happy³ posted about the banana slicer.
…
Both the Dollar Tree and the 99¢ Only Store near here (both of whose names are now wildly inaccurate) have carried versions of that slicer off and on for years.
I even bought one as a joke wedding present. Not sure what year but i think their oldest boy is 17 now.
I’m pretty sure i also took a picture of a display of them.
I can’t find it right now, but while looking, i ran into another pic i took of a dollar store item that’s almost, but not quite, related.
A sales associate with whom i was friendly at the time saw me taking the picture.
We were both laughing, and i said it looks the wrong shape anyway.
So she and i brought one over to the produce section, to see whether an actual banana would even fit into it.
Or course we didn’t actually break apart the bunches of bananas, but we figured maybe 1 out of every 6 or 7 probably would have..
Just in case you’re thinking of getting one.
…
There are many other jokes one could make but of course I’m not going there.
.
I’m generally not crazy about stuffed animals being given to dogs, considering the torn (fake) fur and piles of stuffing that usually result.
But this pup seems like a conscientious bear Mommy (or Daddy).
And who could take the baby away?
“Pookie has a boo-boo. Could you look at it?”
Susan is right. All three of mine gut their plushies.
It makes a mess, but they sure have fun doing it. 🙂
I just can’t bear to watch the little furry guys get destroyed, even if they are fake.
… sniffle…
Stuffed animals are people too…. um… I mean….. sort of…
😀
,
Eeeeeeeek!
It’s hard for me to look at pics like this.
I have enough fear of heights to feel it for people i don’t even know, in a photograph.

Yikes!
I roll over too much.
You can’t, if you’re tied down😁
Some people have a “different” idea of fun.
She’s cute, but NO, not even for her.
…nopenopenopenope…
I’ll bet she”s reading a bible.
.,
Talon-ho!
Wow!
What a way to hunt.
Fall at terminal velocity on your target.
The original Hellfire Ginsu.
…like a frozen iguana.
😀

WTH? Those things don’t usually have a lot of buoyancy.
😀
?
Is it the station or the yard that is flooded?

It doesn’t look to me like anything is floating.

find the frog
A teeny tiny frog, nonetheless findable….
See whether we found the same one
If you still have trouble seeing it…
He’s “circled” with a small red heart ♥️…. I’d say about ⅜ of the way up from the bottom on the right hand edge.
It’s not easy being green.
I found a couple of bugs, so the frog should be along anytime now for a snack.
..,
I’ve never seen this plea on a poster…

The caption below comes from HERE.
I doubt the carnivorous plants will find Robbie to their liking. Maybe the donut?
But… if Robbie finds donuts are to HIS liking, perhaps he’s not quite as inorganic as we think.

Part of San Francisco Bay area artist Eric Joyner’s “It’s a Jungle Out There” series.
To escape, click all of the pictures with traffic lights.
I thought that was usually to enter.
I’d rather stay out.😁
Wow!
But also….Sigh……
And just like that… it’s over!
…
BatBasset and Sparrow have defeated the Evil White Cat, his gang, and his nefarious crony, Dr.Felix Ratbreth!
…
Not only defeated them… but reduced their carbon footprint…. cut them down to size…
lessened their impact on the planet… made them feel puny, and their plotting seem ridiculously petty…
“Holy redundancy, Susan… we get it!”
…
Well, yeah, I know, but this is the last episode…. (sniffle) …
If I don’t use that stuff now, I may never have another chance!
The arches of the world are soon to regain their former glory…
arcing once more heavenward, gracing cities, parks and rivers with their curved beauty…
While the evildoers face the wrath of an outraged planet!
…
Where will their trial be?
Who will judge them?
What sort of person or cat or dog (or ?) would step forth to defend them?
We’ll never know, because this is a comic strip, and we’ve reached the very last panel.
Sniff….
…
But I’m sure justice will prevail… Why?
Because this is a comic strip, silly.
Justice always prevails in the comics.
I was about to say that’s because things are always black and white in that universe… but…
um… this strip is in beautiful, living, Cleocolor™.
…
Anyhow… these villains may go to some teeny-tiny prison, and be kept in miniature…
a great solution for all the world’s overcrowded jails!
Or maybe they’ll first be made large again….
In which case, might I suggest a permanent 25% reduction, just to keep them from feeling quite so powerful?
Or does that go against the Basseneva Convention?
…
In any case, I’m happy that our caped canine heroes have met with success…
Truly, I am.
After all, it’s what makes them heroes… It’s their career, and their whole schtick.
We couldn’t have had the wicked ones win, or the arches stay small!
And what about those cheesy little cheeseburgers with which we were almost threatened, had the McDonald’s arches gone missing?
But,,, snivel… still… I will miss this brave basset duo!
….
Wait… I just had a thought…. most criminal masterminds eventually get out of jail…
and besides… there are always other nogoodniks waiting in the wings…
….
Maybe one day soon, Nighthawks will plot a new course for BatBasset and Sparrow!
Right, Nighthawks?
Um… Right?
I love the tongue in the O, Nighthawks!
But…
A few frames later….
“There’ll be plenty of room”, not “they’ll.”
Cos it’s “there will be”, not “they will.”

I must now keep my eyes open next time i go into one. 😀
Those are only occasional items, and i haven’t seen either since quarantine.
But i always keep my eyes open.
There’s usually something useless, funny, outrageous, or all of the above.
And every now and then a really great deal.
Nice perspective where EWC tries to poke.
