A 1927 silent film, and in fact, Arfing Houndoway’s screen debut.
I’ve always loved ZaSu Pitbull…. those tiny lips and huge eyes!
Especially in her early roles, like this.
In silents she was still playing beautiful young things (though she was actually 33 here), and often starred in tragedies, before the comedic daffy neighbor or nervous sidekick roles for which she became famous in talkies.
Too bad she’s not on the poster… she probably wore a wonderful hat.
A side note: Her name was reportedly created from the names of her paternal aunts, Eliza and Susan, so as not to choose between them. She pronounced it, in her own words, “Say-Zoo”. Few others ever did.
…
Wally Beerbasset, OTOH, was never young. His expressions run the gamut, from grumpy to annoyed, with a little anger thrown in for something different.
What are his pants made of?
….
According to IBMdB (The Internet Basset Movie Data Base), all six of the famous Floppydora Pups play roles in this movie, too.
They’re so beautiful, with their earflapper costumes and curly fur.
It’s an interesting look at 1920s baseball as well…. At least, through the eyes of early Howlywood.
.
Hello again. It’s me!
You have my undivided attention!
Bacon??? Did I hear you say bacon???
,
Feel like you’re pushed into a corner? Or is this the time to make a momentous decision!
,,
Carl Perkins was the best of all of them! (IMHO)
Why didn’t you post this earlier?
Saturday, March 16th, was over 2 weeks ago.
Now we’ve missed it!
Which Springfield?
,.
“Do you think they’re friendly?”
“Gzork says they’re kind of friendly, but not his kind.”
Until I scrolled down to the {ahem} bottom of the image, I was thinking Ride of the Valkyries.
Rotor blades are hanging the wrong way.

That cloud bank doesn’t look threatening at all.
Nor does the dark purple-grey air.
I have lavender. Takes awhile to get established, but now it’s threating to take over the yard.
I’d gladly let it take over my yard… though of course my yard is tiny.
It just needs to leave me room for a few tomato plants.
Or 30, if the mood strikes… though those days are probably gone.
Superb editing to go along with the stunts.
Not working for me yet. Maybe later?
See it now.
find the chick
Story of my life.
There’s a couple a few posts above.
What’s she wearing?
Seriously, I think I found it, but the detail is fairly poor, so I might not have it.
A smile 😊
I agree… The resolution is very poor on this one.
But I’m pretty sure I did find
It’s a bit more obvious if you enlarge it, though even more fuzzy.
That’s what I determined to be the chick.
I do see a couple of dots for the eyes, but that’ all i see. It’s just an odd blob.
Somebody’s been beating that guy up pretty bad, looks like.
The cat looks like it’s ready to do the shuffle, too.
“Don’t give me that ‘I can’t’ stuff! I’m the King. Make it happen!”
Hate to say it, but I think the ELO Don’t Bring Me Down shuffle (while kind of random), would still attract sandworms.

Or “Tremors”, “Star Wars”…
Zazu. I still love that name. 🙂
ZaSu, two capital letters… like StelBel!
And for the same reason.
Both are made from two names.
As I say in my post about the film, she pronounced it “Say Zoo”.
Even that is cute! 😀
One of Stel Bel’s best castings.
Wow, this movie is one from the vault.

Dinner solved!
One of my pet peeves… the peanut butter has to be spread out to the edges.
Who wants to eat all that dry, empty bread?
Now I want some!
