This really could use some context. The rails are shiny, so the trains pass by often, but the area, product, surroundings, etc. would be enhanced by some background.
The stark and sudden appearance of this…um… grain mill? It looks a bit like the chicken processing plant near here, as well…. is part of the mystique….
the aura of loneliness… a relatively huge building, of pedestrian use, standing mysteriously alone.
No people, no cars… an alien presence, in spite of its no doubt mundane purpose.
Another view of the same grain elevator – McNab, Alberta (like virtually all of its type, it has been demolished / as far as I know there are none in actual use now).
Grain elevators used to be the main way of loading railroad cars with grain from the farmers in their areas and were all located on railroad lines.
Often times the top of the grain elevator was the first thing you saw on the horizon when approaching a prairie town.
In Canada “the prairies” are located in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

My, what big eyes you have!

The Colosseum, of course.
In Rome.
Old old old joke:
“To what do you attribute the fact that the Colloseum been standing for over 2,000 years?”
(Ok, yeah…. it was a lot funnier when I was 10.)
(groan) and not right at all.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colosseum
What’s not correct?
Wikipedia says it was finished around 80AD, 2,023 years ago, and AFAIK it really can’t sit down! 😁‼️

Someone got their ADs mixed up; Vespasian was not born before 9 AD.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespasian
Um… Well, first… I’m not sure what you’re saying.
If he was born in 9 AD, why couldn’t the Colosseum be finished by 80AD?
Even if it were 300 AD, it would still be 2100 years ago.
Just curious.
…
But mostly… It’s a JOKE!
People have been laughing at it for probably 100 years.
Or maybe only 83.
People also make the same joke about the Statue of Liberty standing in New York Harbor.
…
I was being facetious, trying to play with you in my answer.
If you don’t like “over 2000 years,” just say “almost 2000 years!”
Or you can give the exact number, if you know it.
The Colosseum was built on property formerly occupied by Nero who was Vespasian’s predecessor.
BC.
Read your own post.
Boo! 😀

I bet it’s hot there.
Language Dept.: Shouldn’t something called a chili be cold?
It is down at the tip on a regular basis.
Tierra del Fuego is a chilly part of Chile…
Both of you….
I said something called a chili…
Not a country called Chile.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
..

If it were in a textbook maybe.
But as a painting, I think not.

That’s a photo of an existing grain elevator.
Ive seen ones like that in NorCal on the east side.
You (used to?) get them all across the Canadian prairie…

Thanks guys… OK… a photo.
The only part in relatively sharpfocus on my 8″ tablet is maybe a bit of the gravel in front.
Hard to discern in the middle of the night when I’m sleepy.
But what I said about the “painting” still applies, IMHO, to the artistry of the photo!
It’s the lighting.

Buddy!
He’s black long nosed pig.
But you love him anyway, right?
Can’t help but love a goof.
The lab test is often after the cat scan finds nothing of interest.

I feel judged !
They’re all ears to what you have to say.
Sphinx cats are weird!
I wonder whether the one on the right might be only half sphinx.
If then both – Sphynx cats are completely furless.

What a great team!
Humphrey Bogart.
Totally recognizable already at that age.
I see the strong resemblance, but it didn’t occur to me from the young picture.
Same here.
A little trick I use is to circle my fingers, fingertips touching my thumb, and look at the face through the opening.
Hold your hand in a way that cuts off your view of the hair and most of the clothes and background.
Then those things won’t distract you from recognizing the person by his/her facial features alone.
In this pic, for instance, the slicked hair and sort of pointy ears don’t look like his later image…
Without them you notice those distinctive eyes and brows, and his nose and chin.
Easy one!
How can you tell?
The muzzle, i mean.
Aren’t they all kinda long?
Cyrano’s Elizabethan collar always looks to me, at first, like a huge, toothsome grin.
