Take these fuzzballs, for instance. Jurbasset Park IS likely to be unsuitable for them. Little sacks of innocence with no idea what the world has in store for them.

How genuine is this?

Um… somewhat?

This is the real cover design of the first comic to feature Batman… then called the Batman…. Detective Comics #27.

But I don’t think it’s the actual comic … which is rare and very valuable.

It has, however, been reproduced in many ways…. as a replica comic, as a replica cover, just to frame, and as a poster.

Replica comics often have the issue number inside a diamond shape.

The 1939 date is missing on this one, so I image searched it and my best guess is that this is the poster version… Maybe current, maybe from the late 20th century.

I did see a link to order one on Amazon for about $50.

Meh. None as hard as the age-old “Rubber baby-buggy bumpers.”

Try “Toy boat”

That one’s a classic….

I’ve been trying it all my life!

I can pretty much say it without error, unless I go very very fast. Same with rubber baby buggy bumpers.

Unique New York trips me up, but then, I haven’t had all those years to practice it.

Actually pretty apparent.

Not too deformed, if you work out what bits to ignore, that aren’t really part of it.

That said…

Such a talent!

All broadly caricatured, yet totally recognizable.

It’s a thin line, but Drucker rarely strayed from it.

The giraffe’s proportions are wrong. The room she is in make’s no sense and the backgrounds are sketchy. I call AI.

I’d thought maybe it was a painting, but you might be right.

It appears to be somewhat related to this supposedly actual story:

Same giraffe, different patient?

I’m ready to think they took the giraffe photo and replaced the male patient with a more photogenic painting or AI generated image of a woman…

Complete with air tubing to make it more dramatic.

Advertising something, or soliciting donations… They wanted it to look more appealing. (Was that a pun?)

I finally, after sleeping on it all night, i remember what this reminds me of.
Beach Blanket Babylon.

I wonder if they still preform it. I haven’t seen an SF paper in decades.

I read that it closed a few years ago… I don’t think it’s been revived, or could be.

It had a couple of name changes along the way, like Beach Blanket Babylon Goes to the Stars.

Side note: Nancy Bleiweis, who played Carmen Miranda (the original, if there was another) used to shop in my vintage clothing store … for herself, I believe, not for costumes.

But once, when it was still pretty new, she gave me a ticket. Like an idiot, I never went!

Val Diamond, who became another star of the show, used to come in too, but she wasn’t in it yet.

I think in the daytime they roost, especially the males, rather than nesting.

There was a big old owl in a barn I rented, years ago.

It was a place for us to sort and pack vintage clothes and old furniture, before taking only some of it home to repair.

Our truck came and went; we made no attempt to be quiet in the few hours we were there.

The owl sat on a high perch and slept, like an invisible statue, ignoring us.

In the night he was obviously active… we’d find icky traces of his “work” on top of our things.

OMG… I didn’t really want to describe it because it makes me kind of queasy…

But not only those.

There were a lot of what we call potato bugs in the area. I think they have another name too.

Not the black and red beetles I’ve seen called potato bugs…

These are big, muscle-y greenish tan beetles, 2 or 3 inches long, that mostly hide underground.

They’re scary-looking, partially translucent, with creepy giant serrated mandibles.

I was always told they were harmless, but one night in my driveway a huge one bit the side of my sandaled foot, clamping very painfully in the open area between the front straps and the covered heel, and wouldn’t let go till my friend killed it and pried it off.

I’ve been terrified of them ever since.

The owl apparently hunted them in the night.

It must have eaten the bodies but disliked the legs… which look like a smaller, nasty colored, translucent version of crab legs.

Among with other disgusting things, our piles would be scattered with hundreds of legs, and some heads. We had to put tarps over everything.

I still shudder.

Besides the actual owl….. (And much smaller)…

I see some little cartoon eyes peeking from a dark hole…

And does anybody else see a tiny cartoon ladder that goes from a little wooden ledge to another round hole?

I think some cartoon birds live in this tree.

My first thought was that the writing on this guy’s forehead looked like it could be the Japanese equivalent of writing on the men’s room wall.

I know the humans copied the idea, and made a terrifying movie….
And there’s a warning on the canine poster….

But I saw the trailers for Jurbasset Park, and I don’t think it was meant to be super scary.

Look at that sweet face peeking through the shrubbery.

Sure, there are some bassesauruses, pterodogtyls and such.

But it still looks looks like a family-friendly alternative to fiercer dinosaurs and terrifying jeep rides…

a place to pet nice doggies with long silky ears.

….

If I’m wrong, and there’s a Tyrannobasset waiting for you to open the car door… or Cleo is lurking around the corner with an RPG….

I guess I’ve unwittingly led some unlucky families right into their trap…

So sorry… I do hope you got out alive.

Oh well… mistakes will happen.

Oooh, the Blue Angels! Great video. They won’t be near me this year. I saw the Thunderbirds last month and the Frecce Tricolori will be next month.
