A couple of years before that, they could have had a much more classic photo…. with Jeff instead of Timmy.

My Dad’s greatest ambition was to dance like Fred and Ginger.

Another Flagg poster, but I had to do a little googling to figure out what’s going on.

This was very shortly after the US entered WWI, which was already happening in Europe.

There were isolationist groups and speakers still trying to persuade Americans that involvement was wrong.

This poster shows Columbia, representing America, dozing in her chair, weak and vulnerable, unprepared for me the storm clouds of war moving towards her from behind.

It’s a warning …. an exhortation to be prepared to join the war effort.

A little strange that they’re from all different eras.

I haven’t had TV since 2008, so the later ones I’ve mostly only seen in youtube clips, yet I recognize all but a few.

I didn’t know the Asian family at the very left or the fellow in the lower left corner (unless I just don’t recognize the drawing), or the one to the right of Will Smith.

But what I really don’t understand is the selection… for instance why have every character from Friends and all four girls from the ancient Facts of Life, but nobody from the Big Bang Theory?

It’s not that it’s too modern, because I believe the couple right below Jerry Seinfeld is from Black-ish, which is newer.

Is it a network thing?

The one right to Will Smith is his cousin in that show.

“………………or the fellow in the lower left corner (unless I just don’t recognize the drawing”

Don’t know the character, or the actor’s name, but he’s a main character in the Canadian show “Schitt’s Creek”
He turns up in memes and such, which is how I know he’s from that show.

There are dozens more not represented.

Just a few ….for instance…

Nobody from Murphy Brown, Sanford and Son, Mary Tyler Moore, whether with Dick Van Dyke OR Rhoda.

Where’s My Favorite Martian, Married With Children, Cheers, or Frasier?

All groundbreaking and popular! And there are many more.

….

One person from Seinfeld, one from Happy Days.. but four from Facts of Life??

And as I said, nobody from Big Bang Theory, one of the most successful ever.

It’s beautiful, I wouldn’t mind a print of it on the wall. I don’t know how much (if any) is real, but the motion blur was clearly added as the rest of the bird is in sharp focus. Sadly, I don’t think that beautiful blue plumage is real.

What a great animation!

And it’s the third episode of “The Maltese Basset”!

The artwork in this one truly shines, Nighthawks.

LOVE the doorway, with its bricks, and stuffed mailbox…

Sam’s trenchcoat.. and the sidewalk-pressed view of him.

And Mister Ious is perfect!

BTW, he does die very early in this version…

Oh my….

Does someone perhaps want him out of the way?

Gasp! I was just thinking…. could it be the very same person who wants to slow Mr. Basset’s investigation?

Wow! I wonder whether that has occurred to anybody!

…..

The smoke is very well done, too…

though really, Sam should NOT smoke.

It’s very bad for his health….

Then again… sigh… I suppose a frequent rain of bullets might be a little unhealthy, as well.

Life is so cheap in that milieu.

I mean… there’s a beautiful, but possibly treacherous, woman involved…

and an unseen, but supposedly priceless, artifact.

Plus who knows what sort of dangerous enemies, obviously lurking close at hand…

all trying to slow him down, or perhaps even do him in.

OK, maybe one cigarette would be all right, Sam.

….

I can’t wait for the rest of the story!

It’s the 5th of July here on Cleo….

But right now, to those of us on the West Coast, it’s still daylight on the 4th…

In about half an hour the sun will set, and fireworks will be just beginning in places that still have those shows.

(As I believe Happy ³ already mentioned… in the middle of a heat wave at the start of fire season, some have been changed to flameless types of entertainment.)

Here on the web, we can look at all the fireworks we want, with no danger, no fear of burning down houses or forests.

I posted some near the end of yesterday… But since everybody’s on this page now, I’m going to bring them over, so we can enjoy them for a while, at the right time thursday night.

Happy 4th of July, for a little while yet!
