damn, you remembered her name……you’d do well in Trivial Pursuit™
I remember Stel was pretty good at trivia—especially WW2 trivia that she was inundated with on the history channel, one of her favs.
I admit I’m hooked on WW2 and have been all my life. I can’t get enough of documentaries and movies about all facets of it
Growing up, on our block alone back in the early 50s we had an ex- paratrooper , an ex-B17 tailgunner, a Marine corpsman and an ex-army soldier who was in Italy and returned with a large Nazi flag that we somehow got a hold of and were playing war with. War was what we played almost all the time as I recall–not realizing the horror of it ….
Used as the theme song for The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, a sitcom starring Bill Bixby and a little boy whose name I cannot remember. The little boy was the eponymous Eddie.
I remember when Stel was trying to post it, and the glitter just stopped.
IIRC she tried different sizes, and even posted it in the forum, but then it magically returned on its own.
Good thing, too…. I mean, what other way can you look properly at Elhound John? Or Rodger Dogtree, either.
Wow.
…
I know I’ve written here before about the rock opera , “Tommy”, the original album by The Who, on which this movie was eventually based, though it took a few years.
I can’t say it’s my favorite music ever… but hearing any of it will forever evoke a certain time and place.
I’d just started hanging out with my future husband. We were very young… It was a double album, so a big expense to either of us, at the time…
But he bought it, and we played it endlessly… over and over, absorbed in not only the music, but the lyrics, and the story, itself.
It wove pictures, created fantastic characters, in a way no previous rock album had ever attempted.
I’ve forgotten some, but at that time, I think I knew every word to every song.
Don’t expect me to sing any of them…. people run away if any member of the Sunshine family even tries to sing “Happy Birthday”…
But even now, it’s a whole album of earworms.
…
Who could forget the story of that poor young boy, Tommy, struck blind, deaf and mute by witnessing things his mind wouldn’t accept… pushed into withdrawal from the world…
Until he discovers pinball… whereupon “He plays by intuition“….and becomes the best player ever.
…
When the movie came out, I didn’t want to see it.
They had added so many characters, erasing my mental imagery…
Much as I loved Elhound John, and Teeny Terrier, and all… they were supposed to be imaginary, and they didn’t look like their counterparts in my brain..
But over the years, I’ve watched many clips, and enjoyed them… and eventually watched the whole thing…
If it’s back, I guess I have to go again!
BTW… I’ve read that Elhound John had it written into his contract that he’d get to keep the giant boots!

sorry ’bout the ramblin’
We know Trigger was Roy Roger’s horse.
What was Dale Evans’ horse named?
I think Buttermilk.
His dog was Bullet (I guess to go with Trigger).
Bullet was their real dog, incredibly well trained, who went home with them every night and lived in their house.
Oh yeah… the Jeep was Nellybelle.
I think it belonged to Roy but maybe just to the ranch, cos it was driven by his sidekick.Pat Brady.
Dang! Can’t remember the name of the ranch.
It’ll come to me.
….
No, I didn’t look any of this up… In fact something could be wrong.
But just my luck…. it would be hard to pick another show or character I know as much about.
We lived and breathed Roy Rogers when I was pretty little, and being the big sister I had to know all the trivia when we acted it out.
….
Going back to bed….
I thought it was Buttercup
Made me look…
Google says Buttermilk and Trigger were Dale and Roy’s personal horses, and appeared with them in other films and appearances.
The Double R Bar Ranch sounds familiar. (Yeah, I lived and breathed Roy Rogers too!

find that kitty!
Ha!
No, not THAT kind of kitty, the one that’s filled with $100,000 in cash! She was just cleaning out my closet, and….
OMG! You’re really Robert Menendez, aren’t you?
I was going to be a bit macabre here, but I couldn’t word it without being more than a little gross.
It’s the wee hours here on the West Coast.
I feel asleep and then woke up again in the middle of the night.
So…. it’s not that I’m tired or anything….
But I haven’t found a cat yet.
And when I was first looking I kept wondering why there were Halloween decorations.
You know… All those little orange pumpkin faces.
D’oh!
I thought somebody would get me off the hook and find said kitty, ’cause I never saw it
I watched that episode of “Walking Dead”.
When I blew it up, I actually found it.
Found it after your hint. I had to blow it up too see it.
I found the same one.
Yay!
Obviously, you got there first.
I know it’s a bit late, but I found the kitty!

damn! the trivia queen strikes again!
To be fair… I didn’t remember that.
I took a quick look at Arfside’s link and happened to see it.
I did remember the Roy Rogers stuff I just posted…
And also, Stel calling me, upset when the glitter on this poster kept messing up….
We blamed WordPress, of course.
Ooooh. Twinkly.
Shiny! 🙂
Excellent glittering effects. Probably took awhile to create them.
I see the glitter, Nighthawks….
