At night, when I’m tired, with my poor vision and an 8″ tablet instead of a computer, I sometimes miss captions that are above the picture.

Central Avenue was part of Route 66 (November 11, 1926–June 26, 1985).

Equipment is obviously one reason it’s hard to compare old and new athletic records.
Shoes, but also bats, gloves, even the fit and material of uniforms, could make a difference…
Just like tennis rackets, golf balls and clubs, footballs, and all kinds of things that have changed… I believe even some rules.
But a star in his own time would probably be a star in another time, measured against his contemporaries (or her, of course) even if the yardsticks are a bit different.

when it ended, they were 14 and 18, not long after Dow graduated from high school.
We have an active lodge here… In fact I think there are two.
I dion’t know how many members… but one, in addition to meetings, runs Oddfellows Hall, which rents large rooms to groups.
I remember because it was considered for a close friend’s wake in 2021, but IIRC they wanted over $200 an hour, besides being indoors, when some of us weren’t gathering indoors.
