Somehow reminds me of my friend Keiko telling me, years ago, how funny it seemed to Japanese people that American driver’s licenses had spaces for eye and hair color.
My husband and I had a Tempest… a super car if ever there was one.
We sold every weekend at a flea market eighty miles away, and drove equally far on other days to find things to sell, but couldn’t afford a truck, even an old one.
A friend sold us the Tempest, not terribly old but badly damaged in an accident, and we put at least 100,000 more miles on it, carrying hundreds of pounds in the back seat and trunk, and bungied to the roof.
It liked to go 70mph, even after it survived oil leaks, flat tires and breakdowns.. it once ran out of water, due to a hose leak, on a 100° day in Sacramento, and the block didn’t crack.
One door didn’t match, a vandal broke the grille, the tires were bald… and somebody stole it! When we told the police they laughed!
I never had the last two either…. to me they seem to to be from a different era.
All the ones with sugar in their names have had name changes over the years… admitting so freely to its use no longer being popular.
Sugar Pops are now Corn Pops, Sugar Frosted Flakes, just Frosted Flakes (Frosted with what? Oh golly, we don’t know.)

Sugar Crisp, now Golden Crisp, was the biggie in our family. We loved it, but couldn’t have it for breakfast…. it was doled out in small bowls, dry, as a treat for an evening snack.
Occasionally when traveling, Mom would buy one of those packages with little individual boxes… But we all wanted the Sugar Crisp, and she’d always have to eat the Kix.
I still like it, but never buy it. It’s not cereal, it’s candy.
Sugar Jets. when they first came out (around ’56) they had an ad on tv that claimed kids actually were able to run faster upon consumption. I remember
seeing that, having a bowl one Saturday morning, the went out side and ran about a forty yard dash……..I felt certain I was running faster, thanks to Sugar Jets!
Maybe the disappearance had something to do with deceptive advertising .. though I don’t know if anybody cared back then, or how many of the others also made outlandish claims.
I’m sure they all advertised their “health benefits.”

Actually, it’s amazing that so many are still on the shelves, albeit including a few minor name changes.
I liked the way they advertised “part of a healthy breakfast” with a picture of a healthy (by 1960’s standards) breakfast with a bowl of their cereal on the side….
I’m familiar with tarantula wasps. There’s very little more frightening than driving 25-30 mph and seeing one of those things pacing you outside your open window.

I had outgrown sugary cereal by the time those last two came along. Sugar Pops was a favorite, though.

It’s the size. Tarantulas in the US southwest don’t get that big. For the big ones you have to go south.

Trying to figure out whether it’s extra folds or extra ears.
Looks like folds to me.
To me too… and of course I meant ear flaps, not actual hearing organs.
I know there are only two of those, and the ear flaps seem to be doing origami around them.
But I did see an article about a cat with what the vet said was an extra ear flap inside each ear, and she looked as lot like this.
I think i remember the story about the cat.
