Aww… but if that’s PapaCat, which it looks to be, from the color of some little furry coats, I’m surprised Mama lets him near.

Maybe she’s a very modern sort of cat… willing to trade old tradition for a little help with the kids.

He seems to be the only father of the litter and therefore will never harm any of those kittens. That’s why he is allowed to stay.

From near the start of her pregnancies until the kittens were 4 or 5 weeks old, my mama cat wouldn’t tolerate a male cat in the neighborhood, if she could help it (which she couldn’t,) much less in the same room.

She’d prowl the windowsill to hiss and growl at them outside… but not my neighbor’s female.

Unfortunately, around the time she didn’t hate the daddy any more, she’d start to hate her female kittens, and I’d have to give them away barely weaned.

….

I know she was weird… but another cat I knew well had a couple of litters with a male cat she’d grown up with, and they always slept like these two… Unless she had kittens, when she’d drive him away.

Poor Tommy, the most affectionate cat in the world, never knew what hit him.

BTW… Yes, we should have had our cats neutered.

But way back then, we were all poor students, and there were no cheap clinics.

Neutering cost a month’s rent, and nobody really thought about it.

You stood outside the grocery store or the library with a box of kittens, and they were gone in an hour or two.

Always new students wanting pets. (I hope pets.)

Probably part of why, last I heard, there were still herds of feral cats in the Berkeley hills.

Very avant garde. Very stylistic.
Just strange enough to keep me interested.

I did a lot of CFD analysis when I was engineering automotive fuel systems. It’s pretty cool.

Major hint.

We are not told their ages, but at the very least he grew up to play second base.

I’m sure I know the intended answer…

It is

Stolen from the “who’s on first” script.

But I think a few other answers are acceptable…

like, say….
Jack Daniels

Ahhh…but you did not ‘READ CAREFULLY.’ .

There is no question mark after “What is the name of the fifth.;” thus making it a statement.

I do like the way you think though…. 😎

My goodness, it’s a joke.

I knew the right answer… so I understood the punctuation.

In fact, I thought about

pointing out….

That it’s not even really a riddle, being presented as a fact.

The 2nd answer doesn’t need precise grammatical analysis, being

in the first place
an answer to a question that doesn’t really exist… but which is suggested by calling it a riddle.

Just please remember about glass houses and stones.😁

Here it is animated.
It’s Pinterest (not one of my favourite sites).
Click on the half picture and if all goes well it will take you to the animation.

It was moving one frame at a time last night, on my slow Wi-Fi, about one second apart.

With the first frames looking like a backwards ending, I couldn’t tell what the heck was going on.

Now it just looks impossible
.. though I do believe it’s real.

Is the fellow on the stairs reacting to it, or just having a private crazy moment?

Thus my comment above: The kid in the background was in on it.
In the non-backward video it’s pretty obvious there’s a safety-glance at the stairs to prevent falling down.
The walking is perfect!

I think that, luckily, dogs don’t understand or consider suicide.

Animals other than man are programmed to fight for survival, on a minute by minute basis.

It’s true that some animals, including dogs, when very old or very ill, do seem to give up the fight… but I don’t think it involves intentional demise.

They’re thinking in the moment, wanting to lie down, unplagued by the notion of consequences.

This is

the cast of….
Designing Women

They are…..
Dixie Carter, seated in front..

And standing behind her, Annie Potts, Jean Smart, and Delta Burke.

This looks like an early picture… They seemed to get more mature looking during the run of it.

And speaking of mature… Annie Potts just finished playing the grandmother, Meemaw, on Young Sheldon.

Northern California too!

Love to watch tourists arrive at the beach in August thinking they’re going for a swim in sunny California.

The cold, windy, rocky beach, swamped in fog, and covered in wet seaweed.

Clickety clack once again!

The rails of the Midnight Express stretch into the distance…
And from where we’re standing… they look like they’re going to meet.

But like my thoughts about “whodunnit”… they never do quite come together.

A slot under the door?

So a person(?) with incredibly long arms and skinny fingers could reach in….

pull the rug out from under Mr. G.C. ’s feet… and all the way out the door?

And bam!! (or is that ka-bam!) the victim would fall back, and hit the back of his head on the floor?

Okaaay….. but nobody has arms that thin!

I didn’t take any of our suspects for a shape-shifter…did you?

A tool?

Right… a tool… say… a loog thin hook… to slide under the door?

But I’m not sure that would provide a strong enough jerking motion.

And where, pray tell, is the rug now?

Even if it were thrown out a window… and not Mr. GC’s window, if the killer were outside the door….

it certainly isn’t a surefire method of killing someone.

Falling down might just bruise an elbow… or give him a headache. Or he might fall face forward.

And it surely doesn’t explain that gash in the wall.

….

The plot keeps thickening.

Anybody for more kibblecorn?

I just got done with my morning runarounds.
Both title companies, the realtor, and my office.
Then back up to Lincoln City to take care of my client.
I’m about toast. Buddy is already asleep.
Retirement can’t come soon enough.
