Well now, there’s a position I’ve never tried.

I’m quite good at that one; I’ve been putting my foot in my mouth for as long as I can remember.

They are Vaxion and Lirien…. From the “Meet The Aliens” 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle series by cross & glory….

Which they say is all original art by up and coming artists.

As a person who has never been to a major league stadium, I have to ask…

Do those four floors of doors and windows mask the back of the grandstand… Or are there rooms up there, and what are they used for?

I’m guessing office spaces for the front office.

That’s a lot of offices!

Then again, I bet there are more people involved than I would imagine.

But wouldn’t they have a corporate office downtown, or somewhere other than at the stadium, which I’d think would be inconvenient?

Came back to this page looking for something else, and happened to see your reply….

Thanks, if you see this… But look how modern those rooms look… they don’t go with that old brick facade.

That’s the new Yankee stadium, built IIRC in 2008 or 2009. I read about it after I posted the question.

The old stadium above was built in 1921 and was privately owned, before it was demolished when the new one opened.

The new stadium was built with state and city money, and so is used for more a lot more public purposes…. Meetings, public events, etc.
… and has more spaces inside

Wanted to post last night but lost connection…. this is a Celebes crested macaque, or a black macaque, in Sulawesi, Indonesia. They’re also known as black crested apes, though macaques are monkeys, not apes.

It looks fierce and formidable, but in reality, even the largest only weigh about 25 pounds. They’re critically endangered… and it doesn’t help that they’re friendly towards humans, because one reason they’re not safe is that they’re hunted for their meat (sniffle), while not protected by local laws. However, a population in the teens of thousands lives in a nature reserve, on neighboring Island, and in international zoos.

It was one of these guys who took a selfie with a photographer’s camera, and it engendered worldwide conversation about publishing rights. I believe the monkey was granted them in this case, so his image couldn’t be exploited, even though he didn’t know.

This is actually “Designing Woman” … not to be confused with the much later (and plural) television sitcom.

And this couple

is, of course….
Lauren Bacall and Gregory Peck.

I recall liking this movie in late night TV reruns…. pretty lightweight, to me, it was kind of a 1950s attempt to make a 1930s movie

Not fair to drag innocent horses into it, was it.

But that’s the way with human arrogance.

Every other living thing is likely to become collateral damage in the affairs of man.

I suspect they didn’t consider it worth transporting a lot of them back. Many likely became farm horses in France.

Ok… I was just about to look that up.

Reading that article is very difficult for me… Not because of reading difficulty but because it’s so upsetting.

It’s also impossible to extract numbers from it…. Saying things like a curtain number were sold to slaughterhouses or locals, which puts becoming dinner or a plowhorse in the same category.

But it sounds like a lot more either died of illness and starvation or went on to be military horses in other countries than were eaten or sent to farms, not that I can really tell.

The whole thing is unbearably sad.

You’d think when the governments of every nation involved realized they couldn’t properly feed horses, that manure was an issue, and that the animals were dying of other causes, they would have stopped sending them!

But no.

Considering the way they ordered charges into machine guns and artillery, dooming hundreds of thousands of men in a single battle, I wouldn’t expect horses to be considered anything more than ammo to be expended.

This “fact” supposedly isn’t about those who became horsemeat or farm horses after the war.

It only mentions those who died during WWI.

But if they’re only going by the number that returned, they’re ignoring the fact that many didn’t come back for those and other reasons.

A very poor puzzle.
I went looking for the clues; they are (such as they are) below.

Can you help the police find the armed robber?
The robber was in blue pants, a straight-striped hat, and a mustache. Unfortunately, he stole a watch!
Find the thief now!

Here is the even poorer answer.

Lou’s hat is decorated with zigzag (not straight) stripes.
Lo couldn’t hold a gun because of his hook.
La’s mustache β€œlooks” down.
Lee’s hand is bandaged so he couldn’t steal the watch.
So, Liu is guilty.

It makes NO sense at all!

Without the story or the clues, it’s not even a puzzle… you might as well throw a dart and say “him.”

Then the clues Alexi found don’t really help much.

Just consider…
I can’t imagine the witness noticing that the robber wore a “straight striped” hat, so Lou’s won’t do!

Lo could certainly hold a gun. The hook is his left hand.

If he were right handed, like 90% of people, there’s no problem… And you can’t make me believe that there are no left-handed robbers out there using guns with their right hands if that’s what it takes!

I’ve never heard someone be acquitted on the basis of being left handed.

Same with Lee… right or left handed, a bandage won’t stop him from stealing!

And what does the shape of La’s mustache have to do with ANYTHING?

Poor Liu… There’s no evidence he did it.

BACK TO SQUARE ONE.

Totally impossible.

Now see… This one’s a .jpg so the movement is more impressive.

No, I don’t mean moving gifs can’t be impressive, even spectacular.

But it’s quite a trick to design a still image that your own eyes cause to move.
