I’m thinking it might be Walla and little Bea.

Did you perhaps miss the Christopher Robin stories when you were growing up?

No, I have all four books practically memorized. (2 of stories, 2 of poems.)

Of course I know about that Kanga and Roo!

But that doesn’t mean this lovely mama and baby couldn’t be wallabies.

Ewwww….. I can’t even look at this!

Hard to explain, but it’s very disturbing to me… in a different way from the creepy horror stuff.

Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a strange aversion to certain kinds of holes in things… mostly patterns of small holes.

When I was small I was uncomfortable looking at the pattern of little holes in manhole covers in the street, and in the end of the telephone receiver.

Now it can be empty honeycomb, wasp nests, certain seed pods, even skin conditions… anything with patterns of round holes… like this picture.

If I keep looking it actually turns my stomach and gives me goosebumps.

….

I always thought it was just me.

The few times I told anyone, they couldn’t understand… except for my mother. I told her when I was 20 or so .. and it turned out she felt it too! Maybe it’s hereditary.

I only found out because of the Internet that many people share the feeling… It even has a name, trypophobia, and it’s supposedly an anxiety disorder.

I can’t say it’s much of a problem for me, but apparently it’s so extreme for some people it affects their daily lives. All I have to do is avoid looking.

I like this picture, because it echoes the more esoteric Science Fiction that comes out of the pens and keyboards of some writers. It reminds me of some of the great ScFi stories/series that I’ve read over the years.

I can understand why it causes some people to dislike it though.

I’ve never heard of that disorder before Susan, but it sounds like the sort of thing that can catch you out at unexpected times.

I have had some of that reaction to some photographs of clusters of holes. But only in certain photos. Like the frog that incubates its eegs in pouches in their back skin. I can’t look at that. There is also a seed pod that gets me. But again, only on photos. Ive seen those pods in arts and crafts stores, but i can’t look at a photo of it.

Some things are that way for me, too.

One weird one I can think of….

It never occurs to me to be bothered by Cheerios… I eat them.

But there was one photo i saw of a tall, clear, glass bowl filed with cheerios and milk….

The cereal was kind of pressed up against the glass, so it was all full circles.

Somehow it absolutely gave me the creeps.

Frequented, years ago, by the rich and famous…

Except I believe it was a small chain of restaurants… and the Hollywood one attracted more movie stars, along with tourists and fans who went there hoping to see them.

That’s the one in the “I Love Lucy” episode where she and Ethel encounter William Holden… but it’s not shaped like a hat.

A little less dramatic but of a similar vein: I was sitting behind the UW Student Union, by the lake. A group of 5 had just rented a canoe and managed to board with little difficulty. They pushed off and all went to paddle… on the same side… Barely 10′ from the pier and they went over.

There is one thing that is sort of daisy-ish that I see, but I wouldn’t call it a daisy.

I kinda remember this puzzle, and being disappointed because that was supposedly the hidden daisy….

As I recall

it’s
the cluster of 7 cookies on the plate (one in the center and the others around like peddles).

Exactly!

I saw it, and rejected it for the solution.

Then somebody found the solution… Maybe me, maybe Alexi… that was it.

Could be moulting, or could be a wear patch given where they live.

It’s the same or a different, similar one…

I did an image search and found several, all very similar but not the same… And all admittedly AI generated.

Too bad cos they’re cute.

Woolworth’s lunch counter in the 1950’s.

We didn’t get this counter in the Woolworth’s over here in the UK, at least I didn’t see any in the late 60’s/early 70’s.

City of Norfolk decided I need to tell them what the water intake pipe is made of. Since I had the day off and was painting and already filthy decided to do that today. I had to crawl under the house and find out if it was copper, brass, steel or lead. I’m under there with a flashlight and here comes Cookie to help out. Pipe is copper, but forgot they wanted pictures too so had to go back under. Made Cookie stay in the house for that one.

But she wanted to help!

How can she earn her Puppy Scout badges if you don’t let her help?
