When I first saw this (24 hrs ago) I was tempted to say “I thought Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelly was the same person.” Then I went and watched a documentary on Frankenstein the novel and learned about the mother/daughter thing…
My local ISP has pretty much given up on ever improving my DSL.. they already came and fixed my inside wiring in March.
But AT&T, who own the outside copper wiring they rent, in order to bring me DSL and my landline, is no longer interested in maintaining the lines, and wants out of the DSL market. They wouldn’t even offer copper landlines any more if the government didn’t force them.
I’ve been on a list forever waiting for wireless to come to my neighborhood… and T-Mobile finally showed up, with 5G service.
It’s working most of the time. 5G isn’t totally reliable here, but my cell phone has been getting better reception every year, so I’m hopeful.
….
I’m just having a few problems with installation… this morning it decided my (5 day old!) password was “expired” … and put me in an endless loop in the app trying to set a new one. But I eventually did it and here I am!
It also won’t let me install the “mesh access point” that sends the signal to the bedroom… Another endless loop.
I shouldn’t even need it cos my place is so small… But somehow I do.
The tech person I talked to on the phone didn’t understand, and had an accent I couldn’t understand either. I’m not usually bothered by outsourcing… But this is a situation where understand is crucial.
…
Hopefully this will all be resolved soon… And I’ll have Internet almost like a regular peopleš
The only issue with 5G is the signal isn’t very powerful, and so needs more transmitters than 4G/3G/2G. It’s all to do with data transfer and bandwidth. The difference in signal strength is the reason 3G/4G could reach most rooms in a house, but 5G can struggle.
My phone (not sure about Internet) drops down to 4GLTE, then 4G … Very occasionally 3G… if it can’t pick up 5G.
It tells me on the icon which it’s using.
But sometimes it just drops the signal altogether.
I didn’t think to ask whether the Internet modem does that.
Once you’re mom, you’re always mom.
I count TEN!
And the ungrateful little things will be grown and probably out of the house before May…
I bet not one will even send her Milk Bones for Mother’s Day.
Or even call, or send a card.

Where are the twins?
come play with us,Liver Lips,
come play forever, and ever and ever…
I didn’t post that because I had hoped for a certain picture…
The original “hard to kill”.

“What’s wrong with this photo?”
At the police station. You need the long arm of the law to wipe out grime.
I have to assume a guy did it.
At the risk of sounding sexist… A woman would never.
And if it were the original design, or a guy installed it later… it wouldn’t last long enough for a photo.
“I just wish I hadn’t drunk all that cough syrup.”
Did you ever, like, really look at your hand?
Right in the middle of the ring is a Mandelbrot Set.
Isn’t the whole thing one, or composed of several?
I admit that fractals are one area I’ve never studied… so if anyone wants to answer or explain… Feel free!
The whole thing looks to be fractal but the only part that i could point out for certain is the bit in the middle.
Wow, I looked it up and am still lost.
Talk to the hand!
Brings back memories of counting bacteria on a petri dish…

Hunter S. Thompson?
I was gonna say “I know him!”
First thing that popped into my head, too, the moment I saw it.

Poor alien…. Did he actually DO anything, or was it just the shoot on sight mentality of the times?

At least two are masters of Science Fiction.

When Vincent is playing you have got listen to the words.
It’s really a lovely song.
I found nine tonight.
Got them!
Kathleen Hughes in a promotional photo for It Came from Outer Space (1953)
Richard Carlson–again. Seems like very other science fiction movie in those days had ol RC in it
I thought it also worked for the “Frankenbasset” strips š
Did I get all nine?
“Ya boss”
Me too.
Stuck at eight!
I hope Susan is OK!
Meanwhile, here’s my
That’s what I found.
Her internet is probably out again.
I hope so.
Yep!
Thanks
OMG!!
I was really sleepy…a stressful day.
But I managed to post my solution before falling asleep.. Or so I thought!…
I’ve been messing with my connection since I got up…
It never occurred to me that my solution didn’t post!
It’s the same as Tigressy’s….
I sent it to Nighthawks a couple of days ago… but I guess he didn’t think I’d want him to post it this morning.
Sorry guys!!
BTW… About messing with my connection….
Finally, this time, not because it’s bad…
I just got new Internet!!
It actually seems to work most of the time!
