I tried that last week, with that adorable little red bird.

Hope it works this time.

All dressed up…. It’s a really big dill for them.

Ooh, look… Some of the small ones are so sweet.
And that guy in front is cool as a cucumber.

Speaking of cool… I feel a draft.
I see some of the guests are even getting goosebumps…. did somebody leave the door a jar?

If you were looking at it intently, persistence of vision, the same phenomenon that makes you see red after you stare at green, could make that seem to happen… but only for one blink.

Your eye tires of the contrasting white dot, and as the picture moves away, for a brief moment, sees a black one instead.

Not intense black, just a translucent vapor… But your brain does the rest.

See, worrying works! Imagine what would’ve happened those times if the worry hadn’t kept the evil at bay 😉

And most of the things that happen, we don’t worry about. So, we do the right amount of worrying, but about all the wrong things.

@ Everybody

From yesterday.

I went and found “House of Long Shadows” online.
I don’t know if you remember the Hammer Film Productions films but the production values of “House of Long Shadows” are below those of Hammer, or deliberately so bad they’re doing what they should.
Of course the four stars are incapable of acting badly, which led to my statement above.
If you follow the link, click the “x” in the overlaying pop-up and when it clears wait for the countdown box to hit zero and then click the back arrow key which appears in the upper left of the box.
It’s an hour and 42 minutes; and I did enjoy it.

Pity Mrs. McHound. A demon cat. The shame! The ignominy! How will she ever show her face at Westminster again?

Vera Lynn singing “We’ll Meet Again” was a favorite of my Dad’s when I was a kid…

But for many years
it has given me chills.

From the opening notes, it’s indelibly linked in my mind with the horrific ending of “Dr. Strangelove.”

Name-giving for Star Trek.
But Lucy was the real force behind that.

When she was working in Hollywood she was a force of nature.
She got what she wanted.

Um .. I know Desilu produced Star Trek, and Lucille Ball was the main force at Desilu…. she even fought for the show when cancellation was imminent.

But could you explain, please, what you mean by “name-giving”, or whether it has.something to do with Oct 15th?

Desilu… Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball…
Without Lucy Star Trek would never have happened.

Ok…. I knew what Desilu stands for… it’s been around since I was a kid, and it’s pretty obvious.

And as I said above, I know about Lucy’s role in getting and keeping Star Trek on the air…. though after a small victory, it was still cancelled the following year.

I was old enough to have been one of the letter writers, begging the network to keep it.

I bet later they were very sorry they didn’t!

…..

Sorry…. I’ve just never heard anybody say “name-giving”…. so I thought you meant that October 15th somehow had something to do with the naming of Star Trek.
