This was her signature song, written for her in a 1928 musical, complete with boop-boop-a-doops.
She sued Fleischer Studios for stealing her schtick… they tried to deny it, but to voice Betty, they’d held a contest to find the best Helen Kane imitator.
The studio cartoonist who’d originally designed her later admitted he’d drawn her as a caricature of Kane, as well.
But at the time of the trial, so much bogus “evidence” was shown against her, that she lost the case.
I was looking for a 19th century vocal sound track for our basset carolers… I knew I’d have to settle for human singing, cos i can’t access BassettTube.
But everything I found was too long, or too modern, or all instrumental….
So for the moment we’ll have to enjoy them silently.
I do love this cover art though…
And I wish I could read the whole issue.
Love to see how bassets decorated their homes in 1920, and read all the holiday kibble recipes.

I can’t help thinking I gotta get out of the way or he’s gonna drool on me.
I’m thinking flapped in the eye with one of those ears…
Roddy McDowell and Lassie, 1943
Bet back then he never pictured himself in an ape suit.

And a Freaky Christmas to you too!
Being kewl for his granddaughter.
It doesn’t have to be the last one.
It’s still 11:40 pm here on Christmas Eve. Even though that makes it the wee hours of Christmas morning for you…
Nobody’s up yet.
You still have all day to post Christmas trees.
Are you sure it’s AI?
or not
Helen Kane was the inspiration for Betty Boop!

…..
BTW… Is this a video Find The Ten Differences?
this, of course, was a mistake—the gag was to post a Christmas tree image
I guess I should stay out of the rum ! ! !
I did mean to post the real puzzle, but I didn’t.
Thanks π
This became a family favourite in the late 1960’s when we first heard in in Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver.
1. King Jesus hath a garden, full of divers flowers,
Where I rejoice with great delight, all times and hours.
Refrain:
There naught is heard but Paradise bird,
Harp, dulcimer, lute,
With cymbal, trump and tymbal,
And the tender, soothing flute.
2. The Lily, white in blossom fair, is Chastity:
The Violet, with sweet perfume, Humility.
3. The bonny Damask-rose is known as Patience:
The blithe and thrifty Marygold, Obedience.
4. The Crown Imperial bloometh to,O in yonder place,
Tis Charity, of stock divine, the flower of grace.
5. Yet, ‘mid the brave, the bravest prize may claim
The Star of Bethlehem β Jesus β bless’d be his Name!
6. Ah! Jesu Lord, my heal and weal, my bliss complete,
Make thou my heart thy garden-plot, fair, trim and neat.
Carol Service at Christ Church in the 60’s? We were probably sharing a pew!

I think I recognise that one!
…
He’s got the Bear Necessities…
,.
Excuse me, but I think we’ve talked about this “coming through the window” business before.
Buddy wants to do that with every drive up i go to.
Wouldn’t you?
.,.
And that was before she found monkeys… (Ook!)
find Santa
I realized it must have been bigger, and I was about to search for it when I saw that you’d already found it.
Your words make it seem that you were posting the correct size puzzle, for us to solve.
I wish you’d given warning that you were posting the solution!
Maybe I should stay out of the rum! ! !
I meant to post the actual puzzleβ¦.but I didn’t.
Um… I don’t suggest working too hard at this…
Didn’t take long to realize that it can’t be solved as is.
I can’t agree with Alexi’s comment about the rum…
But I do agree that this is only a small part of the puzzle….
Unfortunately a small part without Santa!
If you see this BEFORE you open Alexi’s spoiler box…
He gives the solution.
Here’s the actual puzzle to solve:
A very apt caption!
You mean confused.com?
That’s the one!
Now it’s all too small for me to see.
You’re supposed to make it bigger!
I’m on s tablet, so EVERYTHING is small…
But I just have to stretch it with my fingers.
I don’t know what size it downloads on a computer…
But Paint or whatever you have on a Mac.. is it still called MacPaint?… will quickly enlarge it.
You can always delete it right after.
Well, what do you know. I let my eyes do a drunkard’s walk over the puzzle and i found him. I’m amazed at myself.
what can I say?—I didn’t know Pinterest truncated it
I sense an angel about to get his wings…
If someone stops the bell too soon, does the angel only get one wing? That would leave them flying around in circles until they got the other wing.
Duuude, you wouldn’t believe the trip I had while getting my wings! Faaaar out!!!
It’s Christmas — no political comments please…
.,..
I don’t understand the sidewalk… Or is that a fence?
π
Please don’t post the other one on Christmas!
Okay, i wont…. π
β«βͺ Merry Christmas, Everyone! βͺβ«

Just what I need, thanks!
May your Yule log burn brightly and light your way to a wonderful year!

I don’t know what’s wrong, but the animation of the “Saturday Basset Post” works only once for me and then stops.
For me too.
Until you said that I didn’t realize it was animated, though I should have remembered.
Te original work for me.
Does this one work for everybody?
It does for me.
Yes thanks.
Best so far…
Nice Christmas background music…
Though too many voices, including female ones, and instruments to be our little band of carolers.
thanks!
It’s sundown…
So for anybody who’s celebrating it….
Chag Sameach!
