Actually, it has long been a center of fashion and chic….
Where high end Fifth avenue shopping crosses the theater district on 42nd, very close to Times Square.
The rich and the famous strolled the area to be seen.
It’s also the site of the historical New York Public Library, just out of of view here, with its famed stone lions… no, wait… I’m not sure it was open yet, but soon.
Depending on the season, but for the fashionable, still in a fairly narrow range.
Not black so much as blue, gray, green, brown, possibly maroon, in subdued dark shades… Bright shades like red and purple were still considered theatrical, not tasteful, in Edwardian times.
In spring there might be some lighter blues, tans, greens and grays.
Printed fabrics were still mostly exotic, mostly for at home, for sulk lounge wear and such.
But since this particular block was also the theater district, there might be some more flamboyant types about too.
She, dog help me, I cannot put the name to, but totally recognize. I’m positive the memory is somewhere, lost in the neurons at present and non-retrievable.
I used to say he only owned one expression… And here he’s not wearing it.
That’s not to say he’s not a good actor, or funny… I loved him in Beetlejuice… but i feel like I recognize him by that slightly amused, eyebrow-raised expression.

Glad to find out that it was just a glitch that kept everyone away yesterday.

Always have a large towel in your hands when greeting this dog. But Sarge is as honest as the day is long. You can totally trust what he says.

So it has long been a gridlocked mob scene?

“On the avenue, Fifth Avenue
The photographers will snap us
And you’ll find that you’re in the Rotogravure…”
Are the women’s outfits very colorful? They all look depressingly black in this picture.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think that’s Gary Cooper…
(Sorry, should that have been a spoiler?)
Probably, but since it isn’t him, I think that’s all right.
It’s also not Earl Christy.
on set ‘Two for the Road’ 1966
He is, I feel pretty confident, is
Yes….
Though I’d have thought
that more people would recognize.
Yup; recognized her at once.
Back to my usual: 0 for 2
(Smacks self in forehead)
,,.,
nope
Who says that spirits and the undead cannot be photographed and have no reflection?
No reflection only works with a silver mirror. Because silver is “pure”.
Did not know that. May not know it again in a day or three. But thanks.
I agree with Liverlips, did not know that, and it does make sense, back in the day when all mirrored backings were of silver.
And, also like Liverlips, I’ll probably lose this info to the mass confusion inside my head….
Spirits can, photographers can’t…
Where’s the photographer?
..,,,
That should be a song title. It practically writes itself. ♫ ♪ ♫ Those Cleveland memories – the memories of love’s refrain. ♪ ♫
Even before Claude and Clara were born!
,
The possibly cut-off signature makes me wonder whether this is just part of the painting.
Did not notice that. Thanks.
on set “Bonnie and Clyde ” 1967
And of course (that’s for Strega) we all
LOL, nopes (of course).

I should know her.
I believe so.
Absolutely… But don’t ask me about that snarl!
That’s my face when I smell pot.
one of these couples is different than the other umpteen couples.
You are challenged to find that couple
Got it!
I didn’t think I would, then I happened upon it.
Me too.
I see only a tiny difference, but
If I’m right, it’s….
The one in the dress is a guy? The one in pants is going commando? Ones white & ones Asian? (I see a tiny shift in position, but really?)
In all the others, she’s leaning back, and there’s a narrow space between them.
It’s not much, but it’s all I can find.
Anybody find anything else?
..
“Her master’s voice.”
Her master’s bark?
Gus Grissom after his Mercury sub-orbital flight , July 21, 1961.
You had to be a skinny astronaut too fit in a Mercury capsule!
That’s what I noticed too….
He has a padded space suit on, and he still looks thin.
Three actors from a 1982 film that you’ll probably recognise from other films/shows.
Oh yeah, 0 for 3. One was in a TV show I watched for a while and another was in a movie I really like. But I never saw this movie.
Michael Keaton was brilliant in this one—absolutely hilarious, he really stole the show
He’s the one I didn’t recognize.

Got my “new” (refurbished) laptop today – Ubuntu successfully installed (not my first rodeo 😉 ).
4k screen – wow! Hide your zits… 😉
I understand… I had a little tiny dog who could make a big vet quiver.
They loved her (or so they said) in the office… She was exceedingly bright, cute, friendly (up to a point) and inquisitive.
She loved vet visits, and everybody there…. jumped up onto the table by herself… but don’t try to give her a shot or trim her nails.
One tech confessed to me that they called her a special nickname in the back room…. “Miss Personality.”
It wasn’t meant to be flattering.
Not “Miss Millie High Maintenance?”
