I never knew the song was called “Vincent” nor listened seriously to to lyrics. I was missing a lot. Now it all makes sense.

When Claude gets cleaned up, he could make these.
While this does require the use of an oven, it’s only for 10 or so minutes (but see my note below).
And simple things are sometimes best.
Cleo, of course, will end up eating six of the eight servings.

From:

“The Farmers’ Almanac Cook Book” (Originally: The Ohio Farmer Cook Book )
A BOND WHEELWRIGHT BOOK
A POCKET BOOK SPECIAL
Published by: Pocket Books New York 1965

FRANKFURTERS with POTATOES

8 frankfurters (all-beef are best for this)
Prepared mustard
2 cups mashed potatoes
1/4 cup chopped parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 cup minced onion
1 tablespoon chopped pimento, if desired
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Cover frankfurters with boiling water and let stand for 8 minutes.
Split lengthwise and spread with mustard. Blend mashed
potatoes with parsley, onion, pimento and pepper. Heap the
mixture on top of the frankfurters. Brush with melted butter.
Place on broiler rack 3 inches under heat. Broil until delicately
browned, about 10 minutes.     Makes 8 servings

Note from me:
The broiling time is way  off. Keep a steady eye on them from the start and remove as soon as the “delicate brown” colour appears (believe me, it won’t take anywhere close to 10 minutes).

Cleo must remember the ‘last time’. At least Claude should be safe from whatever disaster he causes.

That’s the point, Claude. Cleo knows you’re about to make gazpacho.

Which requires no cooking….

Chef’s whites… including the tall toque blanche… might be a little much for opening a couple of cans of mushy “ravioli”…

Or maybe they’ll inspire Claude to attempt a complicated recipe far beyond his level of kitchen skill.

There doesn’t seem to be any intermediate with people who offer you dinner, but can’t cook…

They either want to serve you a peanut butter sandwich and a can of soup, or pull off something nearly impossible from your facsimile 1903 “Escoffier“.

..

Well… Cleo has re-costumed him…

now he looks ready for his close-up in a McDonald-land movie.

Let that inspire you, Claude…. just go pick up some burgers and call it a night…

keeping what’s left of the kitchen out of harm’s way.

Next time, get some hounds-tooth trousers. Maybe they’ll help.
