yes, I once saw a similar altercation outside of a bar involving cue sticks—the unfortunate difference these days is one or both of the participants is likely to be armed with guns.
guns, booze and drunks.
Wow, yeah…. my brother and his wife bought the slightly smaller and cheaper Sears version of the player when it was on sale for half price… I think $149 instead of $299.
The cartridges IIRC were around $40 each, and these guys have nine.
If this set-up was the genuine Atari version, and not on sale…. we might be looking at close to a thousand bucks, and that’s in 1982-ish dollars!
Plus that giant color TV was probably another grand…. And maybe about to get Space Invaders burned in.
For the last 41 years I worked for a company that makes porch posts and columns. One of my jobs was to take old photos like the one on top, and make CAD drawings of the posts/columns for recreating them as close to the originals as possible. Sometimes they had to pass inspection by historical societies – those could be a real pain in the…umm…computer mouse. So I love this old/new photo set. (Oh – think how long it took to grow those trees!)
It looks like there’s added gingerbread in the bottom pic…
The top one looks like the 1890’s, with the landscaping just going in… if they didn’t add those frills soon, before they went out of style, it might have been done in a later restoration.
Possibly in that same 40 year timespan, by a company like the one you worked for…. that sort of restoration became popular here in the 1980s, as house values escalated.
They’re probably chewing holes in your house too, though — sounds like carpenter bees. (they use the leaf circles to pad the tunnels where their larvae are developing.)
But as I recall (and I do have to look it up) leafcutter bees, which I think mine are called, are different from the more destructive carpenter bees.
I admit my info comes from my neighbor, who is somewhat developmentally disabled, but can read and seems to be some sort of obsessive savant when it comes to bees.
I should try the Internet too… I didn’t have it 30+ years ago when he first told me about them.
There’s not much wood they could access in my house, and I haven’t seen any damage in all that time to anything but leaves.
If you really want it checked out a pro should know not only what to look for, but where to look.
Before his micro strokes my brother was good at that. .
Having watched many, many episodes of Dr. Who I’ve seen pretty much every iteration of Cyber Men. I must have missed this one. Of course, I wasn’t yet 10 years old at the time, and being in the US, I don’t recall Dr. Who getting any air time here in the early years. I have a huge collection of DVDs of the older series, but don’t remember this one. Maybe it’s “go back to the beginning and binge” time.
Thanks.
That’s as smooth as it’s going to get I’m afraid.
It seems as if no site will accept another site’s clearances.
I don’t blame them, but it’s still annoying.
Thank you for that link! I knew a lot of the story having picked it up in bits and pieces over the years, but it was a great movie, putting it all together like that.
.
Did yo just fart?”
Ours used to crawl under your chair and let out the most eye-watering farts that you could imagine.
You sly dog.
Uh oh. I think he knows you’re saying those things about him.
He’s got a few choice things to say about you, too.
What a doll! When I get too old to herd bassets, I’ll probably switch to doxies.

Looks like they’re training to play ‘Piga-Paka’……..
Hyenas riding Zebras in the fantastic online comic “Carry On – The Road to Rackenroon”
Magpie House Design – Carry On <<== Monday 11th August’s strip (Friday 15th strip is hilarious)
Taken in Etosha National Park in Namibia, by photographer Sonalini Khetrapal.
He writes, “Two male zebras emerged from the dust, landing blows at each other with their hooves and heads.”
….
Please play nice, pretty babies! I don’t like you landing blows!
Male equines are stupid when it comes to their females.
Male anythings are stupid when it comes to their females…

what could possibly go wrong?

They don’t even bother to report these thing on the local news any more — maybe the traffic report if it’s a slow day…
They do over here, as the rail bridge gets closed for inspection, which causes disruption to the trains services.
On the road to success, I guess there are no short bridges, either.
I see a sign that says 10’…. If that’s the height of the underpass, I have to say, it’s incredibly, and in most US places illegally, low.
It does look taller than that, but who knows.
Almost all semis … even most modern buses and cabover campers, are more than ten feet tall.
Whatever… I think in any case their most valuable resource is about to be devalued.
.
I love it!
I’d think the buildings would look more ravaged by the time they were celebrating.
Godzilla vs King Kong… the dance-off.

Baby Elephant Walk just makes me giggle!
Just your average summer day, taking the puppies for a swim.
I was just thinking…I’m glad we domesticated dogs instead of elephants. Can you imagine the poo bag after walking your pet elephant every day?

The angel and demon on my shoulders watching me do something ill-advised yet again….
Neither was particularly angelic in this.

Got those all right.
I thought that movie starred Henry Fonda.
I think his baby Jane is about 87 now.

I didn’t have a TV then.

Looks like they chopped down th’ windmill!
It was prob’ly for the well… An’ they got water comin’ now in pipes! All the way into the house, too.
An’ a bathroom inside too!
“They put the privy inside the house? That’s disgunstin’!”….Nanny Ogg
Beautiful.
A walkway or two would be nice… That grass is gonna get wet.
There’s probably a walk going to the left – see the trash receptacle? The foreground has just a bit of a rise to it, hiding the walk.
Maybe so…. and maybe it leads to the car or the sidewalk.

LOL!
That is priceless. 🤣
It’s so funny that he has the ball thrower (whatever they call those) in his hand… but no idea how to use it.
They’re both having fun anyway.
Adorable.

Dum dum dum dum, Dum dum dum dum, BAT STAR!

Fractals, anyone?
Looks like lava; beautiful and impressive.
So pretty.

Both are working for me.
Both for me, too, 11 hours after you added the WordPress one.
But this version is larger and more clear, without sliding around in big black Imgur side panels.

BUNNY!!!
I saw 3 bunnies yesterday evening!
The stuffed bunny? Look in the kitchen, maybe in the fridge.
Or in the flower pots on our deck.

Speaking of goofy expressions. Has this one been imbibing?
according to the accompanying text, he loves bubbles
Wow – check out the length of them legs!!! I guess I’ve been living with bassets too long…that looks totally fake!

What a doll! Looks a lot like my girl Maggie (ATB). And kitty may be in for a BIG surprise.
…
There are over 120 types of wild bees here in the Botanical Garden Munich.
I’ve got some kind that chew perfectly round circles out of the rose leaves.
I was told by my neighbor that they’re beneficial, and don’t sting, and the holes don’t hurt the plants… so I have no problem with them.
It looks funny though, like they’re secretly flying around with a big hole punch.
They’re probably chewing holes in your house too, though — sounds like carpenter bees. (they use the leaf circles to pad the tunnels where their larvae are developing.)
I was worried about that….
But as I recall (and I do have to look it up) leafcutter bees, which I think mine are called, are different from the more destructive carpenter bees.

From the beginning, ELP.
Fell asleep here last night…..
One more and i’m done.
One we lost too soon.
The Cybermen first appeared in the 1967 Doctor Who serial ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’.
Scary, their wearing accordions which they probably play poorly.
Having watched many, many episodes of Dr. Who I’ve seen pretty much every iteration of Cyber Men. I must have missed this one. Those costumes must have been sweltering.
Maybe less so in England than in the Hollywood sun…. but hot, nonetheless.
The Cybermen near Ealing Studios London 1967.

Woul someone let me know if this LINKs smoothly to the movie? Thanks.
Took me direct to “Are you a robot” verification page, then a page where it had a full page popup wanting me to buy premium without ads.
Managed to get to the film eventually.
Oh, and Firefox didn’t like that site at all, though it could be the FF is blocked by the site.
Just close the popup.
My Firefox doesn’t have any issues.
Thanks.

They are obviously looking for the Doctor in that phone booth.
I’d love to see the bus driver’s face.
