I thought Dean did pretty well. He simply was not about to jump into the air while standing on ice in a questionable attempt to catch a flying projectile. Not after the last time. A dog’s got to know his limitations.
Watch any group of small children play any team game with rules. It is one of the most entertaining ways of spending time with the kids in the family.
I very recently got to watch my niece’s eldest son, who is 5, play something that resembles baseball. His father was his team’s head coach. I was so impressed with how four fathers managed to keep all these little boys busy and running around, while trying to teach a few rudimentary aspects of baseball. No one is ever going to make a play at first. So every kid ends up with a hit. No one is going to make any sort of fielding play that involves a throw, so pretty much everyone gets to score. Each player gets a turn at bat when their team is up. After the last batter hits the ball, they all just run around the bases until they reach home. The only way an out might ever be recorded is if a kid hits a pop-up that finds another kid’s glove.
I have to give the dads all the credit in the world for the time and effort they put in. The kids get worn out, they have a good time, and they learn a little bit. They are hilarious to watch. Every kid goes after every ball. Just like they do in soccer at that age. Or basketball. Or football. So fun it should probably be illegal.
The U.S.M.C. Band (The President’s Own) is as fine a concert band as exists in the world. And there’s nothing like a Sousa march. Don’t know if you had that in mind when choosing that particular Dean the Basset vid, but it made for a nice touch.

I’ll go on record as urging Cleo & Claude to turn around and go home the way they came.
I used to hate leaving California because of the weather…..now, not so much. I’ll take the Idaho winters. We are having a heat wave here….it’s going up to 84!!! Love it! I do feel for you.
yeah, Susan. I agree –by past standards this animation was kiddie-stuff–only ten
frames and in a loop; there was not much to it…
this is one of the reasons that C&C had such a corner on the market……it’s a lot
of work for just one day’s posting
I’d like to blame it on the weather, but that would be a fib. I haven’t had the time lately
to dive into and complete a larger animation project….I’m planning and have even started sketching out characters for a multi-episode story (like the Perro series).
but this old guy has just so much time a day to devote to the actual cartooning part
of this strip. that’s my only excuse/reason/defense/justification, lame as it is.
Thanks to all for hanging in there with C&C even when we rerun stuff. Please continue to come back often and check us out!
Ricky? I must have missed the really early stuff. I guess Boris and Natasha had so much success with him that Fearless Leader kept them on the job pursuing his younger brother Rocky.
Zounds that’s hot! No A/C available? No power? Heat like that takes it out of you. As long as you have running water, you can fill the tub and just sit in it. Or stand under a shower.
With regard to the pothole, my position on hellholes is well-known and unwavering: I am against them!
It’s funny… not “ha ha” sort of funny… but we’re all so complacent about our great weather around here that almost nobody I know has air conditioning.
….
We don’t “need” it, because we get “so few” really hot days, and anyway the breeze picks up an hour or two after the hottest time of day… which is 3 or 4 pm, not noon…
and the nights are “always” cool, often under 50°, even after a scorcher…. and the mornings usually cloudy or foggy.
…
So when we DO get a week like this, between 95 and 104 every day by 11am, and not cooling off till 10 or 11 pm… we’re in denial.
I sit in front of my little electric fan reminding myself that it’s temporary.
Thanks for your answer to me.
Okay, I can get a 341 ml tin of evaporated milk at the Superstore which is so close to 12 fluid ounces U.S. that I’ll pretend I made cookies with the imaginary 2 and a bit ounces.
If it doesn’t set up properly, I’ll just melt it as much farther as needed, and use it on ice cream.
I’ll be using butter though, as I prefer it over margarine.
I’ll be paying attention to your warning about having to stay at the pan while it’s cooking too.
Fortunately, that much sugar, chocolate and fat will freeze well so I won’t have to eat it all at once.
I’ll be making it Saturday, so I’ll let you know on Sunday how it turned out. —
You remind me of a lunchtime chat with our (American) botanist, who told us “I went to see my favorite singer last night, somebody none of you will ever have heard of — he’s called Ian Tyson…”
To which we all replied “Hey, we’re Canadian. We ALL know who Ian and Sylva are!”
Telus has just finished wiring (fibring?) my apartment for the service below. I do wish corporations would actually credit their customers with the ability to read.
Look at the GLARING contradiction in the “rah rah Telus !” blurb below.
If you haven’t had your morning pick-me-up or have just finished your bedtime wind-me-down I’ve broken the questionable parts of the blurb out and emphasised it by underline.

If fibre never degrades should not more resistant be “impervious?” What are you not telling your customers.
The copper lines in my building and in the ground outside it are 40 years old and working just fine, by the way.

A rough neighborhood indeed! I hope there is not a “Do Not Push” button on the side of that building!!
The kind of neighborhood, to re-work a Rodney Dangerfield line, where the restaurants serve broken leg of lamb.
At first, this basset was not much of a goalie, but then he seemed to get the hang of it.
I thought Dean did pretty well. He simply was not about to jump into the air while standing on ice in a questionable attempt to catch a flying projectile. Not after the last time. A dog’s got to know his limitations.
A dog’s idea of a goal involves meat.
You wanna throw pucks past him… fine.
Hamburgers … those, he’ll chase and stop.
That is a really cute video. I’ve seen some hockey games like that.

Dunno what the weather’s been like, at the Cleo and Company Animation Studio…
but had you been here, the minimalist style of this Friday animation would have made perfect sense…
104℉ ! That’s 40° for those of you who think in C.
No wonder barely anything moves… I can’t say I’m doing much of it, either, melted as I am into my chair.
…
The evil clown barely moves his fingers, Cleo’s tail has run out of wags… even the menacing red eyes can’t be bothered to blink.
That pothole looks cool and dark… but considering the flashing sign…. no thanks. It might be the opening to someplace hot.
….
Hot, warm or as chilly as you’d think, considering Claude’s long sleeves… this is no neighborhood for you, Claude or Cleo.
I’ll second what Liverlips suggests…
Go home!
I used to hate leaving California because of the weather…..now, not so much. I’ll take the Idaho winters. We are having a heat wave here….it’s going up to 84!!! Love it! I do feel for you.

At my age and with my memory, they are all new!
Agreed!
You know, I hadn’t even realized, by the time I posted the above, that this was a rerun.
Usually I recognize them… but not always…
And besides, even though it had cooled down, I was still feeling very done in by the weather….
Then today I thought “Oh... maybe I’ve seen that.”
….
Which shows you two things… One, even some of your biggest fans (such as moi) don’t remember every strip, and like to see reruns….
And two… if they do recognise it… it means the stuff you’re apologising for was nonetheless good enough that people remember it.
…
Actually, I thought, new or old.. that you were purposely being minimal for comic effect…
Like an early Jay Ward cartoon.
Ricky and Bullwinkle were not famous because of smooth, seamless Disney style animation.
Their abbreviated movement was part of the humor.
….
In any case.. you have nothing to apologise for!
Ricky? I must have missed the really early stuff. I guess Boris and Natasha had so much success with him that Fearless Leader kept them on the job pursuing his younger brother Rocky.

Is the blinking sign keeping time with the creepy clown hand, or is the creepy clown hand keeping time with the blinking sign?
yes
NIce catch! You made me go back and look.
In most animations, especially gifs, which have far fewer frames than videos, changes tend to be made in the same frame..
so everything that moves in one frame keeps time with everything else that moved then, too.
So in other words @nighthawks was right.
Of course… .
Um….. I think… I mean…. what were we talking about ?

The original singers, with the composer singing.
And just the year before “We Five” there was this British Invasion band…
Honey Lantree left this vale of tears in 2018 at the age of 75.

Love Ian and Sylvia, and can still remember the words to some of their songs.
Is this your audition animation for the people who are going to be remaking “Astro Boy” and “Jonny Quest?”
I’ve spoiled you guys!
