Yep…. Tonight the top gif isn’t giffing.
I can see it, but no animation.

This (IBB) one is working fine for me.

Whoa… I didn’t recognize him either….

Then again, to me, he’s always been a bit of a chameleon.

I haven’t seen most of his movies, just a couple, plus bits and clips here and there, and sometimes have to realize halfway through that it’s him.

Oh… right… I should tell you…
This is Robert Shaw.

A little more about him…
He died quite young, at 51, only 3 years after his performance in Jaws.

I remember when I thought author and playwright Robert Shaw was not the same person as the actor…. but he was indeed both.

And he had ten children.

The Northern lights, above Austnesfjorden,Norway (close to Svolvear on the Lofoten islands…. just in case you were planning a trip.)

Taken by Max Reve, in March, 2014.

i found a site where Reve describes the shoot.

It took three days, using Google maps, GPS and weather data, to plan, set up, and get the perfect shot. Reve and his camera are actually only 20 meters below the peak, which looks taller because it’s so slender.

Look carefully … I searched for the story, not just the location, because I noticed that there’s someone standing on the peak, arms outstretched.

Reve said he asked his friend Phillippe Bouillard, to climb up to the top, “And when you see the lights, raise your arms.”

Wow… that’s a friend.

“Secondhand plumbing store, Brockton, Mass.” Jack Delano Kodachrome transparency, December 1940

From Shorpy…. “As of 2007, Saba Mechanical Plumbing & Heating is still in business in Brockton, at an address on Linus Avenue.”

Love to see what it looks like today!

Empire State building, taken from New Jersey, ca 1930.

A few sites said 1941 but there are late 30s pics with taller buildings, so I believe the ones that either say 1930, or early 30s.

“Ornithological symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven” … Oil on canvas, Victory Molev.

I didn’t see a date, but pretty recent, cos the original was for sale on one site, rolled, unframed and unstretched, which seems strange, for $1,050.00

I wasn’t going to mention the repeat, but now that someone did…

I may as well re-post this, in case you missed it….

……………..

I have to think that

this must be the cherry….

Even though …
Cherries can be yellow, too, and there is a repeated yellow fruit that could be a cherry. But the red one is smaller and one of a kind.

You see….?
This is where you put pineapple.

Cake.
Pineapple upside down cake. Mmmmmm.

Sweet. Round. Goes in the oven.

Do not get mixed up and put pineapple on a savory round thing that goes in the oven. Not the same at all.

Bigger, flatter… has cheese and tomato sauce. Not pineapple.

No point in spoilering this one I think.

Alarm! Crocodiles swim in flooded city: “Crocodiles are truly everywhere.” Large areas of northern Australia are flooded after heavy rains. Police warn that hungry crocodiles could appear everywhere.

Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in northern Australia. Now, police are raising the alarm: it’s because of crocodiles. Entire neighborhoods are under water, and authorities are warning people to stay away from flooded streets. This disaster is still unfolding. It’s estimated that over 100,000 of these dangerous reptiles live in the most affected region alone. In the Northern Territory, emergency services are issuing urgent warnings not to enter the water. “Crocodiles are truly everywhere,” said Deputy Chief Operating Officer Shaun Gill. His message is clear: “Please don’t go in the water.” The floods are causing rivers to overflow, pushing water into new areas. This can lead to the sudden appearance of reptiles in places they normally aren’t found, such as drainage ditches, tributaries, or even flooded roads. Katherine residents are also reporting encounters with the animals on social media. One woman described seeing a crocodile swimming along the road. The region was hit by heavy rains over the weekend. Katherine is currently experiencing its worst flooding in 25 years. More than a thousand people have had to be evacuated in the Northern Territory. Helicopters and planes have been deployed to remote communities. Since the beginning of March, heavy rains in northern Australia have caused water levels to rise, notes Giovanni D’Agata, president of the “Sportello dei Diritti” (Rights Desk). The Katherine River reached 19.2 meters on Saturday evening, the highest level since the devastating floods of 1998, which claimed three lives. The Daly River also continues to rise and could exceed 15.3 meters by mid-March. Books & Literature
