Oh – that flute-sequence to the end is “O Du lieber Augustin” (alles ist hin).
Augustin was a famous figure in the times of the Black Plague in Vienna where he was accidentally assumed dead (being dead drunk) and put in a mass grave, awoke, made quite a racket and was torn out – becoming a beacon of hope in those dark times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marx_Augustin https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marx_Augustin
Added, of course, because here, that tune is often played …originally live, on a steam calliope, then with mechanical music rolls, but for many years now, by a recording… on a carousel…
The spinning wheel on which you ride a painted pony.
The flute is probably the closest instrument they had in the band to a calliope.
…
A recorded calliope version is occasionally heard, as well, coming from an ice cream truck.
Plot: A Mad Max movie makes better sense Scene to scene continuity: If there were not the ‘X’ “this-is-what’s-happening” captions, quite nonsensical at times (one’s written on a toilet seat). Pseudo sciences: Chemistry / Biology: Level of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird.
Physics: Coyote / Roadrunner. Fight scenes: Semi-good make-up, a lot of C.G.I. …and they may have thought they were equaling Tarantino (they weren’t). One liners: Badly written and not delivered well. Destruction of the illegal lab building: Unbelievable; but if you’re a Monty Python Fan, there are two split seconds where it’s obvious someone on the C.G.I. crew is too (and I mean split seconds). Language: Superfluous obscenities are at a medium-Stephen King-level (and they do detract). Morality: Characters: We’re supposed to feel sorry for some but I didn’t.
Good versus evil: “Good” won but only because it was supposed to (I think Gunn was trying for good-people-do-bad-things-for the-right-reasons; he failed).
Don’t spend any money, but if you can get it on DVD from your library in future….maybe. Why did I keep watching? Mainly because of the actresses. I was wondering if they would eventually show some of the could-not-be-cut frustration I think they must have felt being the only ones actually earning their cheques (well, maybe Arnie did too, but he was voicing a shark so you never see him). NOT a movie for kids.
While not as bad as 1998’s “Godzilla,” it can easily use either foot to push “Godzilla” off the stairs entirely by planting one in “Godzilla”‘s back (the fall will be very short for either movie). (apostrophe grammar?)
That kitten has no idea what’s going on. It is just looking for a warm place to take a nap. I’m slightly surprised the dog doesn’t just pick the kitten up by the scruff of the neck and move it.
The Beach Boys car songs certainly are catchy, but aside from the Little Old Lady from Pasadena, I can’t really identify with them. I like their beaches and babes songs better.
Susan, I await your solution. I searched up and down the left column of today’s Clio & Co and I can’t find the one that’s different. Aren’t we supposed to find the panel that’s different, or is it the two that match? Anyway, I can’t find either.
Oh, Susan, that was sooooooooooo sweet! Thank you for remembering! 57 years! Do you remember what you were doing 57 years ago? About this time I was getting my hair done, and getting to St. Genevieve’s on time. What a long time ago that was!!!
You are only as old as you feel………so they say. Right now, I must be about 120 ~ spent a day cleaning house….grrrr. Where are those self-cleaning houses????

if I had ran across that in my grandpa’s valuables or something I would have
felt I held an extremely valuable piece of historic U.S. currency in my hot little hands.
I would be wrong, though……although this is a 159 year old paper bill, it’s only
worth between 150 and 300 dollars.
Heck , that’s probably how much the set of encyclopedias from pre ’63 would go for.
When the new $20s came out in1998, I put aside two old ones. Last year I looked to see if they’d gained value, then researched older paper currency. It turns out that the collector value of paper bills closely follows inflation. You don’t gain anything with them, but don’t lose anything either.
focus one wheel and the other moves
By looking at it just right, I can get both moving.
…nope,nope,nope…
Makes me dizzy.
me, too.
I feel cheated.
No matter how I focus on those wheels or on the grid of similar ones you told us a few days ago were NOT moving…
I can’t see any of them move. Ever.
…
I’ve been good.
I’ve posted here.
I made the solution yesterday.
I’ve played nice.
..
I deserve some moving wheels! (sniffle…)

Wow! Thanks for that!
This picture link is the hot-rod from the “Beach Boys” album cover.
According to the article it actually had an Oldsmobile V-8 installed at the time.
THIS ARTICLE says it did the 1/4 mile in 12.9 seconds at 112 miles per hour (I did not do a math check).

OK….now, WWCD*?
(*what would Cleo do?)
That kitten has no idea what’s going on. It is just looking for a warm place to take a nap. I’m slightly surprised the dog doesn’t just pick the kitten up by the scruff of the neck and move it.
And where are the grownups? Oh, behind the camera.
CLEO would get out the bazooka… no doubt.
But goldens are so much sweeter… and so much …um… less smart..
So cute. Luckily the dog didn’t just run in and jump in his bed.
Boo! 😀
I can relate to the marathon of the incontinent.
Punster without a conscience.
Pretty sweet interior on that Deuce Coupe.
The Beach Boys car songs certainly are catchy, but aside from the Little Old Lady from Pasadena, I can’t really identify with them. I like their beaches and babes songs better.
Re the Cyrcle, I always liked this song, but I had no idea they were so clean cut!
Here we go again… the world’s most lenient Dogparents watch indulgently…
as their adored little angel prepares to annihilate a cat, some squirrels, and at least one Amazon drone.
…
Do we hear a “NO!”
Heaven forfend! Harshness like that could cause the poor darling to grow up insecure.
Do we even hear a “Confound it Cleo!” ??
Of course not! It’s not a family member or possession that’s in harm’s way.
…
So what do we hear?
An observational pun.
Really.
…
Now, I like a pun as well as the next person…. probably as well as the next SIX people….
But honestly… this is NOT the best example of parenting skills, nor is it the height of good judgement.
it won’t teach Cleo any lessons… though that ship carrying that opportunity has long since sailed out of the harbor.
…
And besides… some would say it’s not even true.
That rebel has FOUR paws.
It’s called “having a teenage kid” and “resignation”.
Still having some kind/sense of humor left – priceless.

Noticed on my calendar for today… even though I don’t have a record of most peoples’…..
Today, if I’m correct, is Montana Lady and her Mountain Man‘s 57th wedding anniversary.
Happy Anniversary!!
Stop by the Tiki for banana daks… or champagne… or another beverage, if you prefer… on the house, to help you celebrate!
Meanwhile…. just for you:
…
….
This one isn’t an anniversary song, per se… but I love the way the video celebrates long relationships…
Andy Grammer:
Congratulations!
High time to renew their vows and get a blender.
Why not!
Congratulations to you kids!! Enjoy!
Thanks, Kiddo!
Congratulations! Your Mountain Man is a lucky guy
Thanks, Dennis! I also consider myself very lucky!
Happy anniversary, ML and MM!!!
Thanks, JP! 57! Whew!
Oh, Susan, that was sooooooooooo sweet! Thank you for remembering! 57 years! Do you remember what you were doing 57 years ago? About this time I was getting my hair done, and getting to St. Genevieve’s on time. What a long time ago that was!!!
Thanks for the champagne breakfast!
Why, I was only a TODDLER…
No…wait… I was not even a whisper of a dream, 57 years ago…
A future being…. a… um… I mean… I’m only …. uh…. Mumble mumble…..
Why do you ask??
….
Who told you anything different??
What did they say?
Don’t believe EVERYTHING you hear.
….
I COULD be telling the truth…
Maybe…
in ..uh… SOME universe.
But you’re very welcome!
You are only as old as you feel………so they say. Right now, I must be about 120 ~ spent a day cleaning house….grrrr. Where are those self-cleaning houses????
Congratulations, Montana Lady! Something for others to aspire to.
I’m at 39 for this one. Had I remained married to the first, I’d be at 47. Although he died 16 years ago, so I suppose that wouldn’t really count.
Thanks, Dorothea. We are a rare breed, huh?
What a special day for you and your Mountain Man!!! How lucky you are to have each other, and I just know you both treasure every day together!
My best wishes to you and Mountain Man today and for many years to come!
(1964)
Wow…. that was neat! We do treasure each and every day!
xoxo
Cool! Congrats!
Thanks Happy!

Cleo has an agenda. Cleo better hope that package delivery isn’t her order for more supplies.
Oh, Cleo. I have some squirrels I’d like help with. Just don’t blow up the tomatoes.
