I found the human version of “The Meteor Man.”
The word “pathetic” comes to mind.
Even Audrey II wouldn’t eat the characters.
The poster is the best part of the film.
I had never even heard of this movie. It had some good actors in it, and I always have liked Robert Townsend, so I’d be willing to give it a go. It can’t be any worse than The Invasion of the Saucer-Men!
Never heard of this movie before, but this strip is well timed to go with the Perseid meteor shower. Cleo’s question is, meatier than what? The human copy looks um… interesting.
We (Max and me) can’t go out in the backyard, so no viewing tonight! (we still have hot, humid and hazy weather, so nothing is visible anyway.)
We have a very “active” skunk lurking about. The last thing I need is one of us getting sprayed tonight. Fingers crossed for tomorrow night! [edit: I meant “fingers crossed” that I can see the meteor shower……NOT that we have that same spraying skunk in the yard again! Just clarifying….. lol]
One satellite, no meteorites. Unusually clear night skies for this particular time of year here in Munich, but too much light pollution – plus a street lamp nearby.
We’ve had storms and clouds, so no meteors. Hoping for better luck tomorrow and Saturday when we’ll be Up North with a lot less light pollution – as long as the clouds hold off.

Like everyone else, it seems, I had never heard of this movie. Or its human doppelganger. Even with some names in the cast, it must have gone straight to video.

I’ve enjoyed all the musical offerings so far. Little Shop of Horrors is a terrific show live, and it really lends itself to the treatment Rick Moranis, Steve Martin et al give it.
For a movie I hate to admit I had never heard of… but I can tell you now, exceeding even the usual comparison… the basset version is FAR superior to the copydog human one.
…
Bassets don’t know how to be frenetic… so their movie can’t move at the jittery pace of the human one.
And Bobby Townshound may be a bit roly-poly for a superhero…. but he’s a fine figure of a basset.
Since this is as much, if not more, of a comedy than a space opera…. he’s perfect.
All those napping bassets also slow down the pace, and give us a fine, gentle comedy about a mild-mannered obedience-school teacher thrust into he role of canine superhero.
…
It’s enhanced by a large supporting cast of well known and favorite performers…
Including Jimmy Earl Bones… even if you could possibly forget his many iconic roles… you can NEVER forget his voice …
especially as Dog InVader from “Basset Wars”.
“Duke, I am your sire.”
…
Marla Kibbles.. surely you loved her as the sassy maid, Florrie on “The Puppersons.”
And then add the mellow howlings of Luther VanFox.
…
It may not be up for a Golden Biscuit as Best Picture… but it’s quite a romp.
Thanks so much for your movie review, Susan! As usual, you were thorough and fair, and all the bassets (and, all the other dogs, too) at the studio are celebrating a rave review by the incomparable SusanSunshine!

Good morning Balladeers, ((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
As with most of you, I had never heard of this……don’t understand that!!
With the ‘most napping bassets in a movie’, though, I can’t wait to watch it. I’m falling asleep just thinking about it.
Great job on the poster, Stel!
[human version]
…
That one’s good, but I crave this one. Hurt me, please!:

Ow!
I like that one, too…along with all the numbers! ! I was just trying to go with the “space” theme tonight.
I like the classic version better.

Well…

As always click out the fluff and go full screen. The movie is there, such as it is.

Oh, that’s too good!!! Well done!
Maybe it should have been called “Meatier Basset” … but no, that brings up the wrong image… and a horrible one, at that.
“Meteor Basset” it is!
Never heard of this movie before. But we just got in from Stargazing, where we saw 7 meteorites and 2 satellites. A very nice night!
G’night. See y’all tomorrow.

Next: “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” – no skunk will be able to resist them!
Last night I drew a blank, but I will try again after midnight tonight. Tomorrow we will have smoke.
Good luck!

In the Fall of ’87, I saw Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway. You’re right…it was TERRIFIC!
The stage ending is very different from the movie ending. I’ve seen both. I prefer the stage ending.
Whoa… a new poster from Stel!

.
All I can say is ‘WOW’!!
I was trying to figure what that was… a steak, or ribs, or some commemoration on National Day of…..
Holy carp! They built that rock?
I wish I had known about this city when I was in Spain. I would’ve loved to have a better look!
Living under a rock? I don’t know about that. I have heard about people who crawled out from under a rock.
Oh wow… See what happens when you get too close to Krytonite? These just keep getting better. How do you do it Stel?
Good Morning Basset philm and Stel poster phans!
?
Y’all stay kewl. (((((HuGz!)))))
..
Wish I still had that.
when I my age was only a single digit, I remember playing this thing
over and over —at 78 RPM
I have to admit that I remembered the words and tune and sang along with it, just like I did sixty some odd years ago
I used to watch all of Donald Duck ‘toons. Loved them all.
if you see Julienne, tell her her fries are up
I prefer these
Thanks, Plods !
Mel Blanc’s successor?
The kid’s very good.
Yes he is!
I had to watch it. I’ll go along with LL….
Same here. He’s got it.
Excellent!!
