when I saw this in our neighborhood movie theatre, in 1958 or so,
it scared the living daylights out of me, especially the part that when the giant crabs got you in their pincers and ate you, you became one of them, but you still had your human voice (albeit a little echoey) to lure other humans to their doom
From the 18th.
Your answers to numbers 6 and 10 are right on. I agree with your question mark for 13 it’s an “if-ish” one (but still a lot better than I had).

Do you suppose they were lip-syncing the whole song (not unheard of “back in the day”)?? It seemed so to me, and maybe that’s why they didn’t have a whole drum set used on stage. Just a guess….
Absolutely they were lip-synching, but better than most bands did. There were clearly percussion sounds coming from instruments that were not on the stage.
The dog i almost got before QT was half bloodhound.
The page on her, at the shelter, recommended that she might not be be good match for apartment dwellers.
I liked the way the Temps video detailed the instruments. And the Gale Garnett also turns out to be a rolling stone, though in a more scheduled way. Cold, really.
Gale Garnett: There is a typographical error in her listed birth date, it’s 1942 by all other references (and there’s no way she’s only 17 in the video), but the rest of the article at this…
Alexi: here’s a site that will convert a .tiff extension to a .png. There are more on the internet if you do a search, as well. I would bookmark it, since from time to time, Nighthawks will post a .tiff extension, EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS THAT NOT ALL OF US CAN OPEN THEM!!! He just forgets…..
(he uses a Mac, so Mac products can open .tiffs. Those of us with Windows are just left waving in the breeze! I found this out early on when I couldn’t open them up on my Windows computer, but had no problem with my iPad.)
Fortunately, there are converting sites available. I’m sure that Tigressy was just remiss in mentioning that.
I used a shell on my laptop, the “convert”-command is part of a preinstalled package under Ubuntu and others.
I downloaded the .tiff, went to the directory containing it and “typed” (copied and pasted)
convert HOWL-O-Test2-46-dragged-1629467686.0042.tiff HOWL-O-Test2-46-dragged-1629467686.0042.jpg
and posted the .jpg…
Imagemagick (“convert” is one of its commands) is preinstalled with the newer versions of Ubuntu, but it’s available for other systems, too: https://imagemagick.org/script/download.php

Wow…. every penny of that $32.67 special effects budget shows!

So glad to see you back. Hope you are doing okay.
Worst case of the crabs I’ve ever seen.
You win
Check out the Hollywood sign in the background. But the smog was so bad no one probably noticed.
I did now.
Love the eyes. 😀
The rest of her isn’t too bad either.
Interesting little fact: Russell Johnson played the part of the “Professor” on Gilligan’s Island!

From yesterday.
Jacques Brel I liked.
Terry Jacks; sorry, I only got about halfway through.
It was too heavy handed for my taste.
agreed
The version I was more familiar with was from Edith Piaf, thanks to my Acadian first wife. Much more emotional, for better or worse..
From yesterday.
That was a well produced animation; as you said, the story is heartwarming too.
Thanks for getting back to me. And, I’m so glad you liked it!
From yesterday.
It was indeed the side of the drum he was hitting.

Aha! I thought so!
Thanks for weighing in on that!
An expert speaks!!!
I had to go back and take a stab at the puzzle I missed….
So…. to you and Saucy and whoever else might still be interested…
I agreed with most of your answers, Alexi…
except that I had the same ones as Saucy for #s 6 and 10.
And totally different ones from either of you for
12. Sorry, a pip is a seed, yes, but not an edible one, as the clue requires…
My best guess that fits the rule might be edamame.
13. And equitable, to me, means even-handed or fair…
to be accepting, OTOH…. is to be tolerant.
Welcome back !
And I think your answers to the puzzle are accurate.
But why the down-thumb on my comment?
Purely accidental!
I’ve been very tired… must have been a stray touch.
So sorry I didn’t notice.
I just gave it a thumbs up to zero it out.
….
(You can only give one positive or negative thumb…
But luckily, you can give one of each …. so if you goof you can set it back to zero. Phew!)
You’re back! You’re back! hope you’re feeling better. xoxo
Thanks!
Getting there.
Looks good to me.
Thanks. I wasn’t doing the highlighting part.

Howdy my Cleo cohort…
I’m here… perhaps not fully, and a little the worse for wear…. but at least in part and in spirit.
Stel was right… Thanks Stel, btw… I was a little under the weather….
More than a little, truth be told… but I’m poking my nose out, and the rest should follow soon.
Thanks for the kind wishes!
…
Meanwhile… Here’s yet another thing that Cleo does differently from other dogs.
But we should be glad, cos if she were exactly the same as every other canine on the block……
and did nothing peculiar, or even just out of the ordinary…. she probably wouldn’t have her own comic strip…
to say nothing of her own WordPress page.
And where would we be meeting then?
Great to see you back, Susan!
Thank you! Great to be back.
WELCOME BACK, SusanSunshine!!!!!!
(substitute “Dolly” with “Susan”!!)
Thanks Stel!
I’ll try to stick around.
how appropriate!
One of his best!
Good to see you back here. Are you a Covid-19 statistic now?
Thanks… And no, nothing related to that, thankfully.
HI! 😀
Good to see yo back again.
Welcome back Sunshine.

And Cleo…SHADDUP!!!
….
At one time, we actually had a radio like this. It could be turned up loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear.
That’s a beauty.
My Favorite Part™ was
STAR TWIRLY THING POUND SIGN TORNADO EXCLAMATION POINT
BLOODY DAGGER SKULL & BONES ANOTHER TWIRLY THING EXCLAMATION POINT
what’s not to like?
Given what I see when I try to open it, there’s nothing to dislike is the best I can do.
“convert” is your friend:

So, then….do ALL computers have this capability?

I knew the Great Rotifer would show and let us know your favorite part!!!
chocolate pecan pie
….
Yes, she is. snerks
Phew – That killed my earworm
Good morning Cleo Animation phans & Ms Susan!
I think I sold these at Radio Shack back in the day.
Y’all have a boomin day. (((((HuGz!)))))
That’s my ringtone.
My favorite part was “I howl. Therefore I am”.
What a sweetheart. So glad our neighbors are far apart. If Cleo lived nearby no one would hear her!
It just occurred to me.
Despite her brave face, is Cleo still lamenting that this role went to Nichelle Poodles?
You are very smart, Cleo. It is healthy to stay on a schedule. Of course it will be healthy to stay far away from your neighbors, too.
