Good morning, Cleophiles… just dropping in for a word or two, on my very late way to bed.
….
Today’s strip has a sketchy, watercolor look to it…
The style makes me want to ask Nighthawks if he’s planning on a submission to the New Yorker…
but the subject matter has more in common with the very un-New-Yorker-ish “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.’ …
….
…
In other news… this is my first comics post from my new laptop!
It’s taking a lot of time to set it up, partly cos, in contrast to the days of multiple disks, whether floppy or CD, everything is online now…
More so than when I set up my last one eight years ago.
But getting a new computer has not solved my slow-crawling internet problem…. sometimes I even get messages saying something can’t finish cos I’m off line… when I’m not.
yes indeed I changed my ‘style’ in this particular comic, as you noted, using a
watercolor brush tool for coloring the sketchy ink drawing .
just having a little fun with it
Remember, 10-Years-before-the-current-date Ballard Street was for 4 years our comments forum for Cleo and Company, after Sherpa lost its own forums in early 2017 …
I posted a link there to Cleo on Sherpa every day from the beginning… having been joined in that effort by Tigressy, Dennis, and others when I had to take a break in 2019.
I also posted a lot of links to the 2007-2011 strip on the 2017-2021 Ballard Street.
….
Early this year, Sherpa closed altogether, and Nighthawks started this site.
At first we still commented there, during the transition, and some still add a bit to that discussion now.
I often posted this link there till recently… Not as often as Tigressy, partly because I just don’t comment on GoComics as much as I did.
…
Even more recently, GoComics has displayed new rules for commenting that warn against outside links…
I’ve almost stopped posting any, unless they pertain to the strip where I’m commenting…
But I still sometimes read the comments on our old Ballard St site.
.
Okay, this is getting kinky.
especially with the cell phone.
and the TV remote.
Who knows what kind of messages they’ve been sending each other!
And now they’re both….I hate to say it… . totally undressed.
Voiceover: “Do you know where your precious pets are, right now?”
,,
Oooh… it’s the opening scene from that great Sam Basset mystery… “Murder on The Midnight Express”!
reminded me of that, also
Gotta wonder how they added the steam.
I think it’s too still to be an actual .gif. The headlight would radiate, a leaf would blow…. There might be a tiny camera wobble.
So it’s some kind of visual trick… probably available in some software.
Anybody know how they create it?
Oh! I LOVE steam engines!
Making the world’s largest cappuccino?
,
I like the hat on the front guy getting blown in the air!
NH, you are never going to get into the funny papers with that kind of stuff!
the first part of your sentence is certainly correct
I think Christine is not appreciated for her contributions to Fleetwood Mac. She has a good voice and is very solid on the keyboards.
She also wrote and composed for the band.
Hard to pick a fave in extra #3.
LOL… we just posted the same clip at almost the same moment!
But you were first by a few minutes… I’ll edit my post and remove it.
No… mine is the longer version.
Hope you don’t mind if I leave it.

Crème de Menthe cake
double cheeseburger
another one of those ‘unhinge your jaw’ necessities to take a bite out of these guys
Linguini
Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
Nighthawks, very cute picture! Best Friends taking a nap! I love it!
glad you specified. thought you meant the linguini (even though I’ve never heard
of cute linguini)
You do know you can reply right under the picture, to the person who posted it, instead of to yourself, right?
That usually eliminates the doubt.
🙂
Good to see you on Cleo, in any case!
The puppy dog and the lizard picture I’m talking about.
Never got there when I was in AZ a few years ago.
Good morning dead thing phans.

Y’all have a cheesy day. (((((HuGz!)))))
Too funny!
‘the chicken that didn’t cross the road’—-LOL!
I thought of the Monty Python sketch as soon as I saw today’s ‘toon, also. But Rotifer and Susan beat me to it. Love Cleo’s take on it.
And the video about more random acts of kindness was so well done! makes you (me) so appreciative of our fellow human beings!
thanks, NH.
As I said on https://www.gocomics.com/ballardstreet/2011/9/15
thanks for the plug, M’lady!
I could says she’s hot, but that would be redundant
I think she is too hot for me.
Did you mean to post that ten years ago today?

Yes.
(and to Susan…)
Ah yes, now I understand.
