I was never worried for a second. My shorts, however, seem to have been terrified. That scared the s*** into them!

Excellent reaction by the lorry-driver to the right; congrats to the brakes on the cam-car, too.

Hard to tell whether the driver of the black truck was speeding irresponsibly, and ignoring conditions, while passing another vehicle in a totally unsafe manner and location….

Or managing to control his skidding semi under adverse conditions, while heroically avoiding an almost certain disastrous rear end collision with a distressed vehicle that had stopped or slowed right in front of him.

….

It looks like there might be something in between the guard rail and the oncoming truck that’s being being passed by the black one.

Was it involved in a collision with a smaller vehicle, or is what I’m seeing just a small cloud of snow that it’s throwing to the side?

In any case,, pulling quickly to the shoulder was a good avoidance maneuver by the driver of the truck on our right.

Good thing you posted the website image. I had no idea why some place called “Rise” would have a sign like that in the window.
Before that, I was asking myself what it means? Is it “Sorry that we’re stoned”? “Sorry because we’re stoned”? Are they sorry because you are not stoned? Are they a monument store? A geology/archaeology consulting business?

Okay, I have eight diffs. I am convinced, and will insist until my dying day, that the 9th difference is in the streetlight back left. In the first image, that light is a 1,000 watt floodlight. In the second, it is a 1,000 watt spotlight. That’s my answer. I defy you to prove me wrong.

Stripes is one heckuva fun movie if you haven’t seen it before. You can recognize at least three of the supporting cast, who were outstanding, in the still image for the last video; Warren Oates, John Candy and Judge Reinhold.
The more I see of Warren Oates’s films, and there are many, the more I think he is one of the greatest actors of his generation. His versatility and range were astonishing. If you doubt this, watch Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. It’s a Sam Peckinpah film, so that should tell you something off the top. His deadpan here as Sgt. Hulka is the perfect complement to Harold Ramis and Bill Murray’s protagonist privates.
I don’t know if this was John Candy’s first movie role, but it was certainly an early one. He kills it as Dewey Oxburger every time I watch this movie. One of the funniest people I ever watched perform.

we were watching an episode of ‘Rawhide’ last night where Warren Oates had a bit part. He even got screen credit for it even though it was so brief.

Here I am, Puzzle Pals. Never fear, Cleo family!

I’ve brought the solution, for those who want to check their nine differences against mine, of course….

But also those who just can seem to find that elusive 8th or 9th.

If you’re given it your best shot, and that’s where you’re still stuck, you, too, may

Hmmmm… Lotsa people finding 8 tonight, it seems. I did find nine … It’s my job, and I don’t want to be fired…

but locating that last one, though now I think it’s obvious, took me as long as finding all the rest put together.

And yet, from some comments I see, I get the feeling that not everybody missed the same one.

LOL. Don’t mind me… I’m just plaything Sherlock Holmes.

I’ll explain it, but don’t click on this until you’ve finished solving and/or seen my solution.

Explanation… But it’s a spoiler.
Mr. Sherman was tempted to count the stars on the flag… Which makes me think he didn’t see that there WAS a difference in the flag, but not that…. it’s that the flagpole was shorter in panel 2.

And the same with Liverlips… making a joke about the difference in the source of the brightness of the street lamp… Possibly without noticing that its “arm” was actually shorter in panel two.

…..

Ok… please, let’s NOT openly discuss what you found or missed, as it spoils the puzzle for anyone who hasn’t tried it yet.

Use the spoiler tag…. Highlight your would-be spoiler info, click the [+] at the end of the little black bar below your typing…
Fill in some text for us to click on instead, in the little window that pops up. Then click submit.

Spoiler response
The counting stars comment was just a joke. However, the flag pole was the one I didn’t find. Maybe my subconscious mind found it.

Yes… and….
I could tell.

I knew it was a joke, of course…. πŸ™‚

But your referencing that particular item was a clue that you hadn’t seen the actual difference in it, or you wouldn’t have chosen it to joke about.

Maybe your subconscious was trying to tell you, but if you’d been listening, you’d have thought mentioning it would be a spoiler.

And since you joked about that one and another person joked about a different one, and my last one was yet another, I figured there wasn’t one particular difference that was the hardest for everyone to find.

Forgot to say…

But it’s still a spoiler….
The hardest one for me to notice, that took me all the extra time…. and I don’t know why cos it’s pretty obvious… was that the cloud was lower in panel 2.

You see? I told you! It was the light source. It merely makes the pole look different. It’s all due to the parallax effect, or the coriolis effect, or the coriolanus effect, or some damn thing like that.

My neighborhood is along the busy street that runs through the relatively urban outskirts of a northern California city.

It’s home to quite a few marijuana dispensaries, which can now legally just be called shops… several within a mile of me.

I recognised this one immediately… funny because I thought the real one in the photo was a little harder to identify, until I read the text at the bottom.

I did wonder about the sign… I mean sure, it’s analogous to the ones it resembles, that say “Sorry, We’re closed”…and presumably means the same thing: “We’re not open.”

But first I wondered why they were sorry they were stoned…

I thought they liked it.

Gotta wonder about Clara and Claude.

Are they startled, glad, or disapproving, finding this business in Cleveland?

Do they know what it is?
Have they tried it?

It looks to me like they’re disappointed that it’s closed.
Maybe they’re secretly stoners.

I have no doubt that Cleo is a hipster.

Around here people call them Pot Shops.

SusanSunshine

Here too.

The original “officially” allowed signs, when only medical use was legal, said “Cannabis Dispensary” in small, discreet lettering…

Even then some people called them pot shops.

Now that recreational use is legal, I think pretty much anything goes in the nomenclature…. though… LOL…. I’ve never seen one that said “Dope.”

Not that I’ve really looked…

Sigh… I guess this revolution came too late for me to be interested.
