Nope, not London.
That’s the old Toronto, Ontario city hall.

The Fire Hydrant is a big giveaway (amongst other things), we don’t have them in the UK.

The “mouse over” text says “looking North on Bay Street 1929″…

Here’s the same view of Toronto in 2012, but taken, I’d say, a little closer to the courthouse.

I have to say, Stel, that this does not evoke the fond thoughts I have of London. On my third visit there, my prematurely born infant son was airlifted from Syria, and we stayed for a month. We met nothing but kindness in London. His doctor rented his basement flat for us and our daughter – I can’t imagine that happening in the States. Meanwhile we enjoyed the parks with our toddler daughter. Nothing but grateful feelings for London.

I love the British people!
We stayed at B&B’s and got to sit and chat with the locals. Great experiences.

The Tornados! Telstar is another of those guitar solos that came along when I was trying to teach myself guitar. Could get the melody, but not the special effect. Poor guy on the keyboard – They should have gotten him something bigger so he didn’t look like he was playing a toy.

Very fitting – 1969, this date – their last album under the label “Apple Records”.
(Just heard it on “Sonntagsrätsel”.)

I’ve posted this before at GoComics, but why not share a good recipe around again?

From:
My mother’s cook book. (Grandma’s Pancakes)
Instructions mostly from me. I know my mother’s speech patterns; and you want good pancakes.

Pancakes

1 cup whole milk (3.25% milk fat)
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons baking powder (I always use 1 1/2)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
Flour
1 egg
1/4 cup whole milk

Recipe instructions.

Pour the 1 cup of whole milk into a bowl. Add the baking powder, salt and sugar, stir briefly. Add enough flour while stirring to make the batter a little thicker than you want. (The batter will briefly show the stirring swirls.) Add the egg and the other 1/4 cup of milk, and stir in.
Heat a frying pan or cast iron skillet on medium high heat (a little over half the dial) and add enough cooking oil to cover the bottom of the pan completely.
When the oil is hot pour an 1/8 of a cup of batter into the centre of the pan.
Let it cook until there are bubbles on the top of the pancake. When the bubbles appear, flip the pancake over and cook the other side about half the time of the first.
Put the cooked pancakes on a plate in a warm oven until you’re ready to eat.
Continue pouring batter until you have the number of pancakes you want. Add, and heat, (before adding batter) more cooking oil as necessary.
The batter keeps reasonably well for two days in the fridge if it’s in a sealed container. The batter won’t rise as high when cooked, but the pancakes still taste good.
Serve with butter, and syrup of your choice. (Real maple syrup tastes best.)

If you follow “Broom Hilda” at all, here is an interesting link I’ve picked up from Leojim’s comment at GoComics today.
It’s an article / interview with Russell Myers about Broom Hilda’s 50 year history.
