As I said I would, I voted Monday on the first day of the municipal election advance poll. The municipal ballot was straightforward and easy to cast.
Unfortunately Alberta has, in my considered opinion, an idiot (and I do mean idiot) premier (Jason Kenney) who thinks he’s the smartest mammal in any room he walks into.
That is only so if he’s the only mammal in the room and may be so if the only other mammal or mammals in the room are cows (if there is a bull or bulls in the room, he’s not).
As premier of the province he’s hijacking-by-piggybacking the municipal elections (remember they are province-wide) by sticking in two referendum questions; one of which, thank God, he has no power to enforce and is too stupid to realize that it cannot then be called a referendum question — this one:…
Question 1: Equalization
Should section 36(2) of the Constitution Act, 1982 – Parliament and the government of Canada’s commitment to the principle of making equalization payments – be removed from the constitution?
…and this one…
Question 2: Daylight Saving Time
Do you want Alberta to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time, which is summer hours, eliminating the need to change our clocks twice a year?
…which he, sadly, does have the power to enforce.
The second question is legal, but that’s all it is.
It is nowhere close to HONEST.
Note that there is no method for those of us who would like the year round single time to be Standard Time to register a clear vote.
Kenney may be stupid, but like many of the stupid he has cunning. He’ll point to any plurality in the “yes” answer he, (and/or his friends) want and say it’s the will of Albertans when in fact it might not be.
An honest set of questions, asking in some order***
[ Do you want Alberta to …
…keep the Daylight Saving/Standard Time status quo.
…adopt Daylight Saving Time year-round.
…adopt Standard Time year-round. ]
***would provide the accurate answer.
But as Kenney-and-friends might not like the accurate answer, we have only their legal question to vote on.

This comedy sketch belongs up there with “Who’s on First” in my opinion.
It’s a radio sketch, so don’t bother looking at the video loop, just shut your eyes and enjoy.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve tried not to post anything political (or religious) on C&C or Ballard Street. It seems like this should be a place where people can come to just enjoy the comics and cameraderie. Just my two cents.

Pumpkin Seeds: Long popular in Mexican cooking, pumpkin seeds
are relished today by the health-minded; they make a nourisning,
chewy nibble and an interesting garnish for a pumpkin soup. When

Again, thanks everyone for a great birthday party. I had a blast!
The lamb shanks were interesting. Somehow the peppers mellowed during the cooking and they weren’t as spicy as we had thought they would be. While not too spicy, they were still delish. A recipe we’ll do again and again.
As I sit here, finishing my last cup of coffee, and listening and watching Mason Williams play the entire orchestra, we are treated to Claude pushing yet another button!!! Poor Cleo. Next time she needs to take along her bazooka to make him listen to her!

Actually some of us have been inquiring for ages in regards to how he has managed to return from some of his previous button-pushing adventures.
He’s no longer roaming with dinosaurs in prehistoric times, nor does he still fit in Clara’s purse.

Looks like I made my stir-fry a day too early. I made a shrimp and noodle stir-fry with fresh picked zucchini last night.
My wife made carbonara a day too early also. Fortunately there were leftovers for lunch.
I did chicken stir fry with fresh zucchini and mushrooms.
